RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

March 21, 2005

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 03-16-05, at 2:05 p.m., the Briggs Chaney Cleaners, located at 13828 Outlet Dr. in the Briggs Chaney area of Silver Spring was robbed. A lone suspect entered the store, displayed a gun, and demanded money. The suspect fled out the back door.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 5’10”-5’11”, skinny, black shoes, ski mask, gloves, black shirt and pants, possibly a black hooded sweatshirt. 

            -On 03-16-05, at 2:25 p.m., a 29-year-old Silver Spring man was in the 2400 block of Ross Rd. in Silver Spring when he was approached by three suspects. Suspect #2 displayed a shotgun and asked for money. Suspect #1 displayed a knife. They took cash from the victim. All suspects then left in a Toyota Camry. Suspect #3 stayed in the background.
            -Suspect #1 - Hispanic/M, 24-25, 5’3”-5’4”, 150 lbs., skinny build, grey sweatshirt with hood, pants with multi-colored patches, gold ring in right ear.
            -Suspect #2 – Hispanic/M, 24-25, 5’11”-6’0”, 190 lbs., with pimples, back coat with hood, blue pants.
            -Suspect #3 – Hispanic/M, 24-25, black coat, 5’11”. 

            -On 03-17-05, at 11:03 p.m., the 7-Eleven, located at 10524 Connecticut Ave. in Kensington was robbed. Two suspects entered the store.  Suspect #1 approached the clerk and displayed a knife. The victim gave Suspect #1 some money. Suspect #2 remained at the front door.  Both suspects exited the store and entered a vehicle which drove west on Knowles Avenue.
            -Suspect #1 and #2 – W/M, 5’8”-5’10”, 150-170 lbs., dark clothes, mask, gloves.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 03-16-05, at 6:45 p.m., a 16-year-old Silver Spring youth exited a bus in the area of Ruatan St. and Quebec Terrace, a suspect, who had been following, approached the victim and asked a question. The suspect then struck the victim and knocked him to the ground. The victim’s shoes were taken. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, 25, 5’9”-5’11”, mustache, black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans. 

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 03-18-05, at 12:09 a.m., an 18-year-old North Carolina man was leaving the Red Rock Cafe at the Festival Shopping Center located at 385 Muddy Branch Rd. in Gaithersburg when a suspect followed him out of the Cafι and a confrontation ensued. The victim punched Suspect #1 and then ran across the parking lot.  Suspect #1 pulled out a handgun and fired 2 shots at the victim, one of them striking him in the back. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspects left in a black 4-door Acura.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 24-25, 5’9”, 195-200 lbs., short hair, full beard, black leather jacket, glasses, dark skin.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 24, 6’0”, 200 lbs., sweat suit with hood. 

            -On 03-17-05, at 8:45 p.m., a 14-year-old juvenile male from Silver Spring exited a Metro Bus, in the 10700 block of Columbia Pike in the Fairland area Silver Spring.  The victim was assaulted by a suspect after a verbal altercation.  The suspect displayed a knife and swung it at the victim, causing a minor scratch.  Victim ran across the street, followed by a group of five to six suspects.  The victim was struck in the head. The victim was able to flee the area.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M 18029, 5’10-5’11, 190-200 pounds, black hair, wearing a black shirt and black pants.
            -Suspect #2 – Hispanic/M, 18-20, 5’11, wearing a black shirt and black pants.
            -Suspects 3-6 - no description.

        

ARREST 

            -On 03-15-05, Beoku Bolaji Williams, age 18, no fixed address, was arrested and charged with Strong-Arm Robbery, Theft under $500, and 2nd degree Assault. The arrest was a result of a robbery in the 11400 block of Lockwood Dr. in Silver Spring.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT/ARREST 

            -On 03-17-05, Johnny Lynn Keene, age 50, of the 17300 block of Dowden Way in Poolesville was arrested and charged with one count of 1st degree Assault. The arrest was a result of an assault that occurred at the Exxon station located at 5143 River Rd. in Bethesda. 

            On 03-15-05, a 16-year-old juvenile from N. Potomac was arrested and charged with two counts of Third Degree Burglary, Second Degree Assault, Attempted Burglary, and Malicious Destruction of Property.  The arrest was the result of an incident in N. Potomac that had just occurred.

 

BURGLARY 

1st DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -13100 block of Ridge Road in Rockville, between 11:00 a.m. on 03-12-05 and 10:00 a.m. on 03-16-05.  No force, nothing taken.

            -14300 block of Cartwright Way in N. Potomac, between 8:00 a.m. on 03-06-05 and 9:15 p.m. on 03-13-15.  Forced entry, property taken.
