RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

 

March 22, 2006

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 03-11-06, at 9:30 p.m., a 14-year-old Gaithersburg youth was walking with 3 friends on Century Way in Germantown when he was approached by 3 suspects. Suspect #1 said he had a knife and demanded money. The victim complied. All suspects then fled on foot.
            -Suspect #1 – W/M, 15-18, 5’6”-5’8”, 150-160 lbs., ponytail, thin, black doo- rag hat, blue jeans, white T-shirt.
            -Suspect #2 & #3 – B/M’s, 15-18, 5’05”-5’07”

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 03-17-06, at 10:13 p.m., a 33-year-old Gaithersburg woman was leaving the Giant in the Unit block of Bureau Dr. in Gaithersburg when she was approached by a suspect. The suspect attempted to take the victim’s purse and a struggle ensued. The suspect fled with the purse. Cash, credit cards, cell phone, and license were taken.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, camouflage jacket, black jacket, black mask.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 03-10-06, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a 37-year-old delivery truck driver from Gaithersburg was stopped at the intersection of Airpark Rd. and Stratos Lane when 2 suspects, operating motorcycles, approached him. Suspect #1, with a white cycle, cut in front of him. He began to curse at the victim and broke his windshield wiper. Suspect #2 raised a handgun on the driver’s side and threatened to shoot the victim. Both suspects then left heading southbound on Airpark Rd. towards Muncaster Road.
            -Suspect #1 – W/M, 35-40, 5’10”-5’11”, 160-180 lbs., goatee, tattoos, white Harley-Davidson/Super Glide motorcycle with saddle bags.
            -Suspect #2 – W/M, 35-40, 5’9”-5’10”, 230-250 lbs., goatee, black leather jacket, tattoo, black Harley motorcycle with saddle bags. 

            -On 03-16-06, at 7:20 p.m., a 20-year-old Gaithersburg man and a friend got off a bus at Lost Knife Rd. and observed several suspects in the area. One of the suspects was holding a pit bull. Words were exchanged and a fight broke out. The victim was struck in the eye by a bottle wielded by one of the suspects. The third suspect got into a white car and drove all the suspects in an unknown direction. The victim was taken to the local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, NFD
            -Suspect #2 – Unknown race M, NFD

-On 03-15-06, at 4:00 a.m., a 28-year-old Germantown woman was involved in a domestic incident with a known suspect in the 13000 block of Open Hearth Way.
            -Suspect #1 H/M, 30-years-old. 

            -On 03-18-06, at 12:04 a.m., a fight broke out at Tommy Joe’s Restaurant in Bethesda involving a 26 year-old victim from Odenton, Md. and 2 suspects.
            -Suspect #1 W/M, 25-27 years-old
            -Suspect #2 W/M, 25-27 years-old

 

RAPE 

            -On 03-12-06, a 26-year-old Rockville woman reported that she had been raped by a known suspect at a motel in Rockville several months ago.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 03-15-06, a 31-year-old Gaithersburg woman reported that she had been raped by a known suspect in an apartment in Gaithersburg. The incident took place on 03-10-06. The suspect no longer lives in the apartment. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 03-09-06, a 27-year-old Germantown woman reported that she had been raped and assaulted by a known suspect. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 03-10-06, at 9:51 p.m., a 38-year-old Montgomery Village woman reported that she had been raped earlier in the evening somewhere close to the lake that is part of RIO Mall in Gaithersburg. She had met the suspect on-line originally, and had a date with him at the RIO center. The suspect’s identity is not known and the investigation is continuing.
            -Suspect #1 – W/M, 5’11”, 170 lbs., short hair. 

            -On 03-16-06, a 59-year-old mentally challenged Rockville woman reported that she had been raped by a known suspect. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

 

ARMED ROBBERY/ARREST 

            -On 03-13-06, at 2:00 p.m., Joseph Hallowell, age 20, of the 400 block of W. Diamond Ave. in Gaithersburg was arrested and charged with armed robbery, theft under $500, and 1st degree assault. Also arrested was Addisu A. Biri, age 19, of the unit block of Bralan Ct. in Gaithersburg. He was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and theft under $500. The arrests were a result of a robbery at Wal-Mart in Germantown where one of the defendants threatened a security guard with a large knife.

            -NORTH LAKE CENTER, 15101 Bauer Drive in Rockville, between 8:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. on 03-10-06. Forced entry, property taken.

            -LOURIE CENTER, 12301 Academy Way in Rockville, between 8:00 p.m. on 03-10-06 and 6:45 a.m. on 03-13-06. Forced entry, property taken.

 

2nd DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL 

            -LAKE AMOCO, 8550 Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase, at 1:30 a.m. on 03-11-06. Forced entry, no property taken. 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -6200 block of Maiden Lane in Bethesda, at 11:30 a.m. on 03-11-06. Forced entry, property taken.

 

3rd DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL 

            -AMERICANA GROCERY, 8541 Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring, at 4:49 a.m. on 03-14-06. Forced entry, property taken. 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -1900 block of Bronzegate Boulevard in Silver Spring, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on 03-15-06. Forced entry, property taken.

 

4th DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL 

-WINCHESTER HOMES, 17724 Auburn Village Drive in Sandy Spring, between 5:00 p.m. on 03-10-06 and 1:00 a.m. on 03-13-06. No forced entry, property taken.

-HOMELAND VILLAGE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION, 18111 Homeland Drive in Olney, between 1:00 a.m. on 01-01-06 and 3:47 p.m. 03-15-06. Forced entry, nothing taken. 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -10800 block of Georgia Avenue in Wheaton, between 10:21 p.m. on 02-20-06 and 10:15 a.m. on 02-21-06. Forced entry, no property taken.

            -18100 block of Prince Phillip Drive in Olney, between 7:30 p.m. on 03-03-06 and 10:30 a.m. on 03-06-06. Forced entry, no property taken.
