RECENT CRIME SUMMARY
March 23, 2005
RAPE
-On
02-24-05, at 5:00 p.m., a 22-year-old Washington, D.C. woman
reported that she had been forced to perform a sex act on a man at a
theater in Silver Spring. The suspect is known and the investigation
is continuing.
-On 03-19-05, at midnight, a 17-year-old
Potomac female reported that she had been raped by three suspects in
a park in downtown Rockville. The victim and a male friend
accompanied the suspects to the park where the rape occurred after
they drank alcohol together. The suspects are two black males and
one white male, ages 17-19. The investigation is continuing.
-On 02-22-05, at 11:00 p.m., a
14-year-old Montgomery Village female reported that she had been
raped by a male at a house party, at an unknown house in Rockville.
The suspect was described a black male, 18-19, 6’1”, 130-150 lbs.,
with black hair. The investigation is continuing.
ARMED ROBBERY
-On
03-20-05, at 7:30 p.m., a pizza delivery driver for Dominos Pizza
was making a delivery to the 400 block of Branch Dr. in the Woodmoor
area of Silver Spring when two suspects approached him. The first
suspect displayed a revolver and demanded money, while the second
suspect stood nearby. The victim complied and both suspects fled the
scene on foot. Both suspects are described as black males,
unknown age. One was wearing a blue jacket and one was wearing a
khaki, jean jacket.
-On
03-20-05, at 8:20 p.m., a 21-year-old Silver Spring man and his wife
were approached by two suspects in the 11600 block of Lockwood Dr.
in the White Oak area of Silver Spring. Both suspects were wearing
masks and both pointed revolvers at the victims. One of the
suspects removed property from the male victim. The suspects then
fled on foot across Lockwood Dr. Both suspects are described as
black males, 20-25, 5’8” to 6’0” tall, skinny, wearing black masks
and black puffy jackets.

03-21-05, at 4:10 p.m., an 11-year-old Silver Spring male was at a
bus stop in the 13900 block of Castle Blvd. in the Briggs Chaney
area of Silver Spring, when he was approached by two suspects. One
suspect displayed a knife and demanded money, then pushed the victim
to the ground. No property was taken. The suspects fled on foot
towards the Castle Gate Apartments. The first suspect is described
as a black male, 15-17, 5’4”=5’6” tall, 120-130 pounds, with a black
“afro”, wearing a black t-shirt with a Scooby-Doo™ cartoon on it,
black pants, sneakers, and a white rag wrapped around his head. The
second suspect is described as a black male, 15-17, 5’4”-5’6” tall,
120-130 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, a black t-shirt with the
Tazmanian Devil™ cartoon on it.

03-19-05, at 3:58 p.m., a 25-year-old man from Wheaton was drinking
with the suspect in the unit block of W. Diamond Avenue in
Gaithersburg, when the suspect demanded money. The suspect then
struck the victim with a beer bottle, took an undisclosed amount of
cash and left in an unknown direction. The victim was taken to a
local hospital for treatment. The suspect is described as a
Hispanic male, 20s, 5’10”, 160 lbs., black hair, and was wearing
casual clothing.
STRONG
ARMED ROBBERY
-On
03-19-05, at 1:30 a.m., a 15-year-old Potomac male was with a friend
on the football field at Cabin John Middle School, 10701
Gainsborough Road in Potomac when they were approached by four to
six suspects who were all dressed in black and wearing bandanas.
The victim was punched in the head and pushed to the ground. After
obtaining the victim’s wallet and money, the suspects fled the
scene. Victim received minor injuries and refused treatment.
-On
03-18-05 at 8:40 p.m., a 14-year-old Silver Spring male was walking
with friends along University Blvd. toward Northwood High School in
Wheaton when six suspects ran up to the victim, knocked him to the
ground, and punched and kicked him. The suspects took the victim’s
sneakers, and then fled on foot towards Arcola Avenue. All
suspects were described as either black or Hispanic males, 16-17
years of age, wearing dark clothing.
-On
03-19-05, at 6:00 p.m., 17-year-old male from Gaithersburg and a
“friend” were in the parking lot of the Brighton Village Apartments
on West Side Drive in Gaithersburg when they were approached by two
suspects. The victim was kicked and punched in the face by the
suspects and his “friend”. Cash was obtained and the suspects all
fled in the direction of the Muddy Branch Shopping Center. The
friend’s identity is known and the two other suspects are described
as black males, 18-19, and 5’09” – 5’10” tall. The victim was
treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
AGGRAVATED
ASSAULT
-On
03-19-05, at 3:18 p.m., a 35-year-old female and her 18-year-old son
from Germantown were in the 600 block of University Blvd., East in
Silver Spring. When the female victim saw Suspect #1 approach her
son with a knife, she chased him and Suspect #2. They ran to a car
where two more suspects were waiting. The third and fourth suspects
threatened the female with guns. All four suspects fled the scene
in a Silver GMC truck towards Prince Georges County on University
Blvd. East.
Suspect #1 – Hispanic male, 20’s, 5’0”, 140 lbs., brown eyes,
short black hair, wearing a black shirt and black pants and was
armed with a knife.
Suspect #2 – Hispanic male, 20’s 5’4”, 145 lbs., brown eyes,
short black hair, mustache, wearing a black shirt
and blue jeans.
Suspect #3 - Hispanic male, 20’s, 145 lbs., brown eyes, short
black hair, mustached, wearing a black shirt, black pants and was
armed with a gun.
Suspect #4 - Hispanic male, 20’s, 145 lbs., brown eyes, short
black hair, mustached, wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and was
armed with a gun.
ROBBERY
ARREST
-On
03-19-05, a 14-year-old Rockville male and a 15-year-old Silver
Spring male were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery for an
incident that occurred that day in the 11500 block of Lockwood Drive
in Silver Spring.
AGGRAVATED
ASSAULT ARREST
-On
03-19-05, Derek Carlton Dewitt, 37, of the 15500 block of North
Platte Drive in Bowie was arrested and charged with two counts of
First-degree Assault, three counts of Second-degree Assault,
Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest. The arrest was the result
of an incident that occurred at the Holiday Inn at 8777 Georgia
Avenue in Silver Spring that day.
CDS
ARREST
-On
03-19-05, Cedric Lamont Armstrong, 28, of the 3400 block of Floral
Street in Wheaton was arrested and charged with Second-degree
Assault, Possession With Intent To Distribute CDS - Cocaine,
Carrying a Handgun, and Carrying a Handgun While Drug Trafficking.
The arrest was the result of an incident that occurred in the 18400
block of Lost Knife Road in Gaithersburg that day.
