RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

March 25, 2005

 

RAPE 

      -On 03-24-05, a 31-year-old female from Silver Spring reported that she had been raped sometime during December 2004 in the White Oak area of Silver Spring in the suspect’s vehicle.  The suspect is described only as a white male, 40’s, and thin. 

            -On 03-23-05, a 23-year-old female from Silver Spring reported that she had been sexually assaulted and raped in the Gaithersburg.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

-On 03-19-05, at 2:35 a.m., a 19-year-old male from Wheaton was walking in the 2100 block of Georgian Woods Place in Wheaton, when he was approached by three suspects.    Suspect #1 displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet.  A second suspect picked up the wallet, and then all three suspects fled towards Georgia Avenue.
            -Suspect #1 – black male, 18 to 20, 5’7” to 5’9”, 150 lbs., wearing a black puffy jacket, black hat, jeans and high top boots.
            -Suspect #2 – black male, 19 to 20, 5/7” to 5’9”, 165 lbs.
            -Suspect #3 – black male, 18 to 20, 5’5” to 5’7”, 150 lbs., thin, wearing a puffy blue jacket and black high top boots.

 

HOME INVASION ROBBERY 

-On 03-19-05, at 2:30 p.m., a 30-year-old Wheaton male answered a knock at his front door and was confronted by two suspects, both of whom were armed with a knife.  The suspects threatened the victim with a knife and demanded money and property.  After obtaining property, both suspects fled the residence and left the scene in an older model, 4-door green Chevrolet sedan.
          -Suspect #1 – white Hispanic male, 30, 5’8”, 220 lbs., brown eyes, short black hair,  medium build, wearing an orange short sleeved t-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.
          -Suspect #2 – black Hispanic male, 35, 5’0” to 5’4”, 160 to 170 lbs., brown eyes, black hair, thin build, wearing a blue baseball hat, blue long sleeve shirt, blue            jeans, black sneakers, and black framed glasses.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 03-24-05, at 6:40 p.m., a 17-year-old male from Silver Spring was walking with a friend in the 8500 block of 11th Street in the Quebec Terrace Park area of Silver Spring when they were approached by two suspects.  Suspect #1 asked for change, struck the victim in the face knocking him to the ground.  While on the ground, Suspect #2 removed property from the victim.  Both suspects fled the area in an unknown direction.
            -Suspect #1 – black male, 18, 6’2” tall, 180 pounds, wearing a black “Northface” coat, black ski mask and black knit hat.
            -Suspect #2 – black male, 18, 6’ tall, 175 pounds, wearing a black “Northface” coat, black knit hat, and blue jeans.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 03-24-05, at 5:30 p.m., 20-year-old male from Silver Spring was walking on Georgia Avenue in the area of Prospect Place, when he observed three males following him.  The victim heard several shots and observed the three suspects running north bound on Georgia Avenue.   The victim observed later that he had been shot in his leg.  All three suspects are described as black males 15 to 19 years of age. Victim was treated at a local hospital. 

-On 03-22-05, at 9:41 a.m., a Montgomery County Police officer from the 3rd District arrived to investigate an incident that had occurred earlier in the 8000 block of Takoma Avenue in Silver Spring.  The officer heard wheels spinning and observed that a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed towards him.  The officer ordered the driver to stop however, the suspect’s vehicle accelerated and drove towards the officer.   The vehicle was described as a Red Mitsubishi with Virginia registration.  The driver is described as a black male, 18 to 25, long black hair, wearing a dark colored winter coat.  The investigation is continuing.

 

ROBBERY ARREST 

            -On 03-18-05, Andre Lamote Linthicum, 18, of the 400 block of Webster Street in Washington, D.C. and Faneshia Davita McGee, 18, of the 600 block of Girard St., N.E. Washington, D.C., were arrested for an incident that had just occurred in the parking garage near Hecht’s at Westfield Shoppingtown at Wheaton.  Linthicum was charged with Carrying Mace/Chemical Device With Intent to Injure, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, 2nd Degree Assault, Attempt Theft, Attempt Robbery, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Attempt Rogue and Vagabond.  McGee was charged with Robbery, Carrying Mace/Chemical Device with Intent to Injure, Concealed Deadly Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, 2nd Degree Assault, and Attempt Theft. 

            -On 03-23-05, Theodore Joseph Wilkins, 45, of the 300 block Taylor Street, NW in Washington DC, was arrested and charged with four counts of Armed Robbery, two counts of 1st Degree Assault,  two counts of 2nd Degree Assault, Theft Over $500.00, Theft Under $500.00, Possession of CDS- Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  The arrest was the result of a robbery that occurred in the 10200 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring.  Wilkins was also charged with Driving on a Suspended License. 

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY ARREST 

            -On 03-24-05, Billie Jay Genies, 27, of the 12600 block of Tobytown Drive in Potomac, was arrested and charged with Robbery, 2nd Degree Assault, and Theft Under $500.00.  The arrest was the result of an incident that occurred in the 10000 block of Darnestown Road in Rockville.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARREST 

            -On 03-21-05, a 21-year-old female from Bethesda was arrested and charged with two counts of 1st Degree Assault, two counts of 2nd Degree Assault and two counts of Reckless Endangerment.  The arrest was the result of domestic incident that had just occurred in the area of their residence. 

            -On 03-23-04, Kyu Sung Hwang, 35, from Gaithersburg, was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment.   The arrest was the result of an incident that occurred at his residence, not domestic related.

 

WEAPONS ARREST 

            -On 03-23-05, Eric Tate Dawes, 19, from the 14200 block of Amberleigh Terrace in Silver Spring, was arrested and charged with Illegal Possession of a Registered Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Handgun in a Vehicle, and Possession of a Firearm/Ammunition by a Minor Under 21.  The arrest was the result of an incident in the 620 block of N. Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 03-22-05, Jose Rubio Guevarra, 27, of the 5000 block of Georgia Avenue in Washington, DC was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Burglary, Disorderly Conduct, 1st Degree Assault and Attempted 1st Degree Assault.  The arrest was the result of an incident that occurred in the 2300 block of Blueridge Avenue in Wheaton.

2nd DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL           

            -3945 block of Lantern Court in the Connecticut Avenue Park area in Wheaton, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on 03-22-05.  Forced entry, property taken. 

 

3rd DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -1900 block of Alabaster Drive in the Fairland community of Silver Spring, between 7:30 p.m. on 03-22-05 and 11:30 a.m. on 03-23-05.  Entry made, no force, destroyed property.

 

4th DISTRICT

RESIDENTIAL  

            -2900 block of St. Helen Circle in the Aspen Hill area of Silver Spring, between 4:30 p.m. on 03-20-05 and 4:38 p.m. on 03-22-05.  Entry made, no force, unknown if anything is missing.

 

6th DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL 

-K & W CONSTRUCTION, 7500 Warfield Road in Gaithersburg, between 5:00 p.m. on 03-23-05 and 8:00 a.m. on 03-24-05.  Forced entry, property taken. 

RESIDENTIAL             

            -400 block of Christopher Avenue in Gaithersburg, between 5:00 p.m. on 03-23-05 and 7:00 p.m. on 03-24-05.  Forced entry, property taken.
