ARMED ROBBERY

 

      -On 03-21-04, at 8:35 p.m., a 29-year-old Silver Spring man and a 16-year-old female were in the laundry room of the Hampshire West Apartments in Silver Spring, when they were confronted by two suspects. Suspect #1 (B/M, 25-30, 5’8”-5’9”, 200-220 lbs., goatee, white T-shirt, with blue jeans) placed a gun to the head of the male victim and removed some cash from the victim’s pocket. Suspect #2 (B/M, 19-25, 5’8”-5’9”, 140-150 lbs., goatee, white T-shirt with blue jeans) also had a gun and demanded money from the female victim. She complied and handed over some cash. Both suspects then fled out the door in an unknown direction.

 

            -On 03-28-04, at 9:40 p.m., the Ledo’s Pizza Restaurant, located at 7213 Muncaster Mill Rd. in Derwood, was robbed. Three suspects entered the rear door and one brandished a black firearm. Another carried a metal bat and a third held a metal object. They wore dark clothing and ski masks and appeared to be white males, ages 18 to 30. Three employees were pulled from their jobs and placed in a small room. The suspects took cash from the safe and placed it in a duffel bag. The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 03-19-04, at 8:50 p.m., a 38-year-old Silver Spring man was the victim of a strong arm robbery on the 3rd floor pedestrian bridge leading from the Wheaton parking garage to the Wheaton Metro Bus Station.  Four suspects approached the victim from behind and beat him, causing him to lose consciousness.  The suspects took the victim’s wallet and other property.  The victim was transported to a local hospital for observation. The suspects were described as black males.  No further description was provided for the suspects.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 03-25-04, Mario Juarez Cabrera, age 25, of the 7400 block of New Hampshire Ave. in Takoma Park, was arrested and charged with Second-degree burglary, Theft Under $500,  Destruction of Property,  Fourth-degree Burglary, and Resisting Arrest. The arrest was a result of an incident at the Eastern Carryout on Piney Branch Rd. in Silver Spring, earlier that evening.

            -HAIR CUTTERY, 7214 Muncaster Mill Rd., Rockville, between 9:00 p.m. on 03-20-04 and 10:00 a.m. on 03-21-04.  Attempt only, pried front door.

            -ABBOTT HOME CENTER, 12948A Travilah Rd., Potomac, between 3:00 p.m. on 03-15-04 and 11:57 a.m. on 03-15-04.  Forced open rear door, equipment taken.

            -POTOMAC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, 10311 River Rd., Potomac, between 5:00 p.m. on 03-22-04 and 7:30 a.m. on 03-23-04. Unlocked front door, cash taken.

            -DUNKIN DONUTS, 7739 Tuckerman Lane, Potomac, between 9:45 p.m. on 03-22-04 and 4:08 a.m. on 03-23-04. Entered front door, cash taken.

            -TRI-MINI STORAGES LLC, 15750 Paramount Dr., Derwood, between 7:00 p.m. on 03-25-04 and 8:00 a.m. on 03-26-04. Broke lock on door, broke thru wall between units, nothing taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -11200 block of River View Dr., Potomac, between 12:00 a.m. and 6:15 a.m. on 03-19-04.  Entered garage with opener, purse and money taken.

            -12600 block of Three Sisters Rd. Potomac, between 9:30 p.m. on 03-16-04 and 8:00 a.m. on 03-17-04.  Entered rear door, baby clothes, money, and telephone taken.

            -15000 block of Spring Meadows Dr., Darnestown, between 12:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on 03-21-04.  Forced open side door, purse and money taken.

            -9200 block of Overlea Dr., Potomac, between 7:55 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on 03-22-04.  Broke front window, climbed through window, unknown what was taken.

            -7800 block of Buckboard Ct., Potomac, between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on 03-22-04.  Forced open rear door, car, telephone, camera equipment, DVD players, and jewelry taken.

            -Unit block of Calabash Ct., Potomac, between 8:30 am. 2:40 p.m. on 03-19-04.  Entered basement door, computer equipment taken.

            -13200 block of Wye Oak Dr., Darnestown, between 10:30 p.m. on 03-22-04 and 8:00 a.m. on 03-23-04. Entered rear door, handbag taken.

            -7900 block of Declaration Lane, Potomac, between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on 03-26-04. Forced open front door, camcorder taken.

 

2ND DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

            -11200 block of Edson Park Place, Bethesda, between 3:00 p.m. on 03-06-04 and 6:00 p.m. on 03-17-04.  Entered front door, money taken.

            -9500 block of Kensington Pkwy., Kensington, between 3:00 p.m. on 03-20-04 and 8:00 a.m. on 03-21-04.  Forced open side door, unknown what was taken.

            -4800 block of Fairmont Ave., Bethesda, between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on 03-18-04. Front door entry, unknown amount taken.

            -7100 block of Meadow Lane, Chevy Chase, between 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 03-24-04. Forced open rear door, nothing taken.

            -7100 block of Connecticut Ave., Bethesda, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on 03-24-04. Unlocked front door, cash taken.

            -7000 block of Selkirk Dr., Bethesda, between 7:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on 03-25-04.  Forced open front door, jewelry taken.

            -10800 block of Hidden Trail Ct., Potomac, between 6:30 a.m. on 03-25-04 and 5:00 p.m. on 03-25-04. Forced open front door, vehicle taken.

 

3rd DISTRICT

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -10200 block of Edgewood Dr., Silver Spring, between 5:40 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. on 03-22-04.  Attempt only, pried rear door.

            -2800 block of Lemar St., Silver Spring, between 12:00 a.m. on 03-13-04 and 4:45 p.m. on 03-21-04.  Broke through rear window, unknown what was taken.

            -600 block of Ritchie Ave., Silver Spring, between 12:01 a.m. on 12-15-03 and 12:01 a.m. on 01-01-04.  Forced open basement door, television and stereo equipment taken.

            -2800 block of Mozart Dr., Silver Spring, between 2:00 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. on 03-14-04. Unlocked rear window, cash, boots taken.

 

4TH DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -BRIGGS CHANEY MIDDLE SCHOOL, 1901 Rainbow Dr., Silver Spring, between 1:05 a.m. and 1:12 a.m. on 03-22-04.  Forced open rear door, unknown what was taken.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -3900 block of Gannon Rd., Wheaton, between 1:00 p.m. and 1:05 p.m. on 03-18-04.  Attempt only, pried doorframe.

            -2200 block of Norbeck Rd., Rockville, between 2:00 p.m. on 03-10-04 and 7:00 a.m. on 03-19-04.  Attempt only, pried door on shed.

            -19100 block of Starkey Dr., Olney, between 12:25 p.m. and 12:29 p.m. on 03-18-04.  Entered shed, beer taken.

            -3600 block of Pear Tree Ct., Wheaton, between 2:00 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. on 03-18-04.  Entered front door, Playstation and games, and money taken.

            -13600 block of Parkland Dr., Rockville, between 9:50 a.m. and 1:59 p.m. on 03-20-04. Broke through rear window, camera, computer equipment, knives, jewelry, and money taken.

            -1200 block of Windmill Lane, Silver Spring, between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on 03-19-04.  Entered front door, Playstation, computer, and movies taken.

            -5300 block of Manorfield Rd., Rockville, between 12:00 a.m. on 03-17-04 and 6:00 p.m. on 03-21-04.  Broke through rear window, unknown what was taken.

            -14700 block of Westbury Rd., Rockville, between 8:20 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on 03-22-04.  Entered rear door, stereo equipment taken.

            -2900 block of Ivydale St. in Silver Spring, between 10:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. on 03-24-04. Broke through window door, cash and jewelry taken.

            -1700 block of Westchester Dr. in Silver Spring, between 2:00 p.m. and 2:05 p.m. on 03-23-04. Broke through rear door, camera and camcorder taken.

 

5TH DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -EQUITY REALTY, 20030 Frederick Rd., Germantown, between 12:00 a.m. on 03-22-04 and 7:55 a.m. on 03-23-04.  Climbed through front window of vacant apartment, unknown what was taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -Unit block of Lake Park Ct., Germantown, between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 03-24-04. Pried lock on sliding glass door, coins taken.

 

6TH DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

         -MONTGOMERY COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION, 2 Teachers Way, Gaithersburg, at 12:46 a.m. on 03-22-04.  Attempt only, pried front door.

            -GAITHERSBURG PET CENTER,  632 Quince Orchard Rd., Gaithersburg, between 9:00 p.m. on 03-21-04 and 7:40 a.m. on 03-23-04.  Pried open front doors, unknown what was taken

            -CITY OF GAITHERSBURG – GAITHERBURG TEEN CENTER, 402 E. Diamond Ave., between 9:15 p.m. and 10:10 p.m. on 03-27-04. Broke out window, no entry. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -7900 block of Capricorn Terr., Derwood, between 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on 03-18-04.  Entered home, Playstation and games taken.

            -18300 block of Lost Knife Circle, Gaithersburg, between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on 03-23-04.  Climbed through rear window, DVD player, camera, and radio taken.

           

UNDERAGE ALCOHOL PARTY 

            -On 03-26-04, at midnight, police responded to an address in the Chevy Chase Village community of Bethesda for the report of an underage alcohol party. There were 40 people in attendance. There were 14 juvenile alcohol citations issued and seven adult alcohol citations issued.
