RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

April 4, 2005

 

RAPE 

      -On 03-30-05, a 13-year-old female from Germantown reported that she had been raped at her residence in Germantown.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 03-31-05, a 16-year-old female from Silver Spring reported that she had been raped at her residence in Silver Spring.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 03-29-05, at 8:10 a.m., a 39-year-old male employee of Domino’s Pizza returned to his vehicle in the 2500 block of Kimberly Street in Wheaton after delivering pizza and found Suspect #1 in his car.  Suspect #1 displayed a gun and demanded cash.  Suspect #2 stood behind the victim’s vehicle.  After obtaining money, Suspect #1 attempted to take the victim’s car, but ultimately fled on foot.  Both suspects were last seen running towards Westfield Shoppingtown -Wheaton.

         Suspect #1 – black male, 5’8”, thin build, short curly black hair, wearing black pants and a black pullover.

         Suspect #2 – black male, wearing a grey hooded sweat shirt, NFD. 

            -On 03-28-05, at 11:40 p.m., three Gaithersburg males, ages 25, 24, and 23, and a 27-year-old Frederick male were inside a residence in the unit block of Wheatfield Ct. in Gaithersburg, when seven suspects came to the residence and were allowed inside.  Once inside, the suspects displayed knives and guns, and assaulted all four victims.  The suspects then took property from the residence and fled in two vehicles.  The 27 and 25-year-old males received minor injuries, not requiring hospital treatment.  The seven suspects were all described only as black males, in their late teens to mid-twenties, and were wearing dark clothing.  There is no description of the vehicles. 

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 03-29-05, at 7:36 p.m., a male driver (age unknown) for Kensington Pizzeria was making a delivery in the 1800 block of Tilton Drive, when two suspects approached him.  Suspect #1 struck the victim, knocking him to the ground, and demanded his wallet.  Both suspects took the pizza and fled on foot Forrest Grove Drive.  The victim was treated on the scene for minor lacerations.
          -
         Suspect #1 – black male, 20’s., wearing a dark jacket, black pants and a blue baseball cap.

         Suspect #2 – Hispanic male, 5’8”, 175 pounds, wearing a gray jacket with brown letters and gray jeans. 

            -On 03-28-05, at 2:40 p.m., a 49-year-old Rockville man was approached by a suspect in the 700 block of Hungerford Dr. in Rockville. The suspect demanded money, ripped the victim’s clothing and fled on foot with a package the victim was carrying.

        Suspect #1 – B/M, 20s, 6’0”, black knit hat, black puffy jacket.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY ARRESTS 

            -On 03-28-05, Crystal Jackson, 26, of the 7900 block of Riggs Rd. in Adelphi, was arrested and charged with Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Theft Over $500, and 2nd Degree Assault.  The arrest was the result of an incident that day in the Briggs Chaney area of Silver Spring. 

            -On 03-24-05, four juvenile males, ages 13, 14, 15, and 16, all of Silver Spring, were arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Attempted Robbery. The arrests were the result of an incident that day in the Fairland area of Silver Spring.

 

CARJACKING ARREST 

            -On 03-10-05, William Garfield Lytle, 33, of the 200 block of Castleton Ter. in Upper Marlboro, was arrested and charged with Violation of a Protective Order, Carjacking, Theft Over $500, 2nd Degree Assault, Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.  The arrest was the result of an incident on January 19, 2004 in Germantown.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 03-26-05, at 4:00 p.m., a 20-year-old male from Rockville was in the parking lot adjacent to 25 Grand Corner Avenue in Gaithersburg when he was struck by the suspect’s vehicle after a verbal altercation.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 03-26-05, at 9:30 p.m., a 42-year-old male from Kensington was struck in the with a beer bottle after a verbal argument at Savannah’s, 10700 Connecticut Ave. in Kensington.  He was then struck in the forehead causing a small laceration.  The suspect left in a vehicle.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 03-28-05 at 8:30 p.m., a 21-year-old Silver Spring male and a 20-year-old Olney male were injured in an altercation at the Wheaton Metro Bus turnaround in the 11100 block of Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring.  The 21-year-old victim was with two friends at the bus turnaround when the 20-year-old victim and four friends confronted them.  A fight ensued and the 20-year-old victim was stabbed.  He was transported to a trauma center for treatment.  The 21-year-old suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment.  The suspects are known and the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 03-24-05 at 4:00 p.m., a 17-year-old Silver Spring male was assaulted by three acquaintances in the area of the 12600 block of Dalewood Dr. in the Glenmont area of Silver Spring.  The victim was treated at a local trauma center for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.  The suspects are known and the investigation is continuing.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARREST 

            -On 03-28-05, a 46-year-old Bethesda woman was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd Degree Assault.  The arrest was the result of a domestic incident that day in her Bethesda home. 

            -On 03-29-05, at 11:30 p.m., Nicholas Jemmell Collington age 25, of Bowie, Md. was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd Degree Assault and 2nd Degree Escape. The arrest was a result of a domestic incident that day in Silver Spring.

 

SEX ASSAULT 

            -On 03-28-05, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., a 17-year-old female of Jacksonville, Florida, and a female friend (age unknown) met the two male suspects at City Place Mall in Silver Spring.  When the friend left the group, the victim went with the suspects to Bethesda.  After an unknown amount of time, they returned to Silver Spring to look for her friend.  Once in Silver Spring, one of the suspects attempted to remove the victim’s pants in a stairwell of the parking garage at 801 Ellsworth Ave.  The victim then was taken back to Bethesda where she called her friend.  The suspects are described as black males, 17 years old, 5’7” to 5’8” tall, wearing dark clothing.

 

INDECENT EXPOSURE 

            -On 03-27-05 at 3:00 p.m., two 6-year-old Chevy Chase girls were walking in the area of Park Street and Belmont Street in Chevy Chase, when they observed the suspect urinating with his genitals exposed.  The suspect then approached the girls.  The girls screamed and ran away.  They saw the suspect leave in a pastel green VW Beetle with no front tag.  The suspect is described as an olive-skinned, white male, 20, 6’ tall, 160 pounds, brown eyes, short, dark hair, and a mustache.  He was wearing blue jeans and new-looking tennis shoes, and spoke with an accent.

 

PEEPING TOM 

            -On 03-26-05 at about 1:41 a.m. a 59-year old Gaithersburg male and his two daughters, returned to their home in the Willow Ridge neighborhood of Gaithersburg.  Shortly after returning home, one of the daughters saw a male looking in her second floor bedroom window.  The father ran outside the residence and saw the male on a ladder, then went back inside to call police.  When the father went back outside, he saw the suspect run to a neighbor’s house, leave the ladder in the yard, and run away.  The suspect is described as a black male, 20-25, 6’ tall, medium build, dark clothing, with short braids in his hair. 

            -On 03-27-05 at 5:30 a.m., the 27-year-old Gaithersburg female saw a male looking in her ground-floor bedroom window.  He fled when his cell phone rang.  The only description of the suspect is that he was wearing dark clothing and a dark hat, and was carrying two plastic bags.

 

UNDERAGE ALCOHOL PARTY 

            -On 04-01-05, at 11:00 p.m., police responded to a residence in the 8600 block of Rapley Gate Terrace in Potomac for the report of an underage alcohol party. There were 30 people in attendance.  Ten juvenile alcohol citations and three furnishing citations were issued.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 03-25-05, at 12:27 p.m., Michael Lawrence Tinsley, 18, of the 2300 block of Blueridge Ave. in Silver Spring, was arrested and charged with 1st and 4th Degree Burglary and Malicious Destruction of Property Under $500.  The arrest was a result of an incident in the 12300 block of Brookhaven Drive. 

            -On 03-29-05, at 1:45 p.m., Alexander Shahid Gault, 26, of the Unit block of Dalmar St. in Gaithersburg, and Babie Robert Simpson, 23, with no fixed address, were arrested and charged with burglary.  The arrests were a result of an incident in the Unit block of Locbury Ct. in Germantown.

            -FLOWER BRANCH APARTMENTS, 8628 Piney Branch Road in the Flower Avenue Park area of Silver Spring, at 11:00 a.m. on 03-26-05.   Attempt only.
