ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 03-28-04, at 9:50 p.m., a 22-year-old Wheaton man was the victim of an armed robbery in the 12100 block of Shorefield Road in Wheaton.  Two suspects approached the victim from behind, displayed a knife, and demanded money.  The victim complied and the suspects left in an unknown direction.  The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 16-18 years, 5’7”, 140 pounds, wearing all dark clothing.  The second suspect was described as a white male, 16-18 years, 6’0”, 160 pounds, wearing a white shirt and white pants.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 03-29-04, at 2:00 p.m., a 19-year-old Wheaton man was the victim of a strong-armed robbery and assault near Randolph Road and Glen Allen Avenue in Wheaton.  As the victim was walking he accidentally bumped into the first suspect.  A few minutes later, four suspects approached the victim from behind.  One suspect punched the victim and the victim fell to the ground.  As the victim was on the ground, the suspect punched and kicked him.  One of the suspects took the victim’s wallet and they left in an unknown direction.  The first suspect was a black male, 15-17 years, 5’7”, wearing a black shirt and jeans.  The second suspect was a black male, 15-17 years, 5’10”, wearing a white shirt and shorts.  The third and fourth suspects were described as black males. 

            -On 04-01-04, at 4:45 p.m., a 34-year-old Silver Spring woman was the victim of a strong-arm robbery in the parking garage of White Flint Mall located at 11301 Rockville Pike in Kensington.   The suspect grabbed the victim and her purse.  The victim began to scream and the suspect pushed her down.  The suspect fled the area in an unknown direction.  The suspect was described as a black male, 5’9”, short black hair, wearing a green jacket.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

            -On 03-25-04, at 2:35 p.m., a 55-year-old Gaithersburg man was the victim of an aggravated assault near East Village Avenue and Welbeck Way in Gaithersburg.  As a witness was driving by, he saw two suspects hit the victim with a bottle.  When the witness stopped to help, the suspects ran towards Snouffer School Road.  The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The first suspect was described only as a black male, 17-26 years of age.  The second suspect was described only as a white male, 17-26 years of age.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

          -On 03-31-04, Rory Wade Leftwich, age 35, of the 8200 block of Wellington Place, Jessup, Maryland, and Thomas Randy Westbrook, age 39, of the unit block of Barkwood Court in Rockville were arrested and charged with burglary.  The arrests were a result of an incident in the 10700 block of Rock Run Dr. in Potomac. ***Previous release written on this incident.*** 

            -On 03-29-04, at 9:15 a.m., James Towon Mozee-Leyser, age 24, of the 400 block of Deerfield Ave. in Silver Spring, was arrested and charged with Fourth-degree burglary. The arrest was a result of an incident in the 500 block of Deerfield Ave. in Silver Spring. 

            -On 03-29-04, at 4:00 a.m., a 17-year-old juvenile from Bethesda and Andrew Richard Furness, age 19, of the 1300 block of Massachusetts Avenue, Washington, D.C. were arrested and charged with First-degree burglary.  The arrests were the result of an incident in the 4100 block of Oliver Street in Chevy Chase.

1ST DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -9200 Winterset Dr., Potomac, between 4:00 a.m. and 4:11 a.m. on 03-30-04. Forced open door, shoulder bag, wallet, cosmetics, cell phone, and cash taken.

 

2ND DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -BETHESDA COMMUNITY STORE, 8804 Old Georgetown Rd., Bethesda, between 12:00 a.m. and 12:08 a.m. on 03-30-04.  Pried open door, cigarettes and money taken.

            -JOLIE DAY SPA, 7200 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, between 11:45 p.m. on 03-30-04 and 8:35 a.m. on 03-31-04. Entered business, money taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -100 block of Grafton St., Chevy Chase, at 2:05 p.m. on 03-26-04.  Broke through window, stereo equipment, Gameboy, and jewelry taken.  Suspect identified.

            -3700 block of Nimitz Rd., Kensington, between 1:00 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. on 03-29-04.  Broke through window, camera and money taken.

            -8400 block of Irvington Ave., Bethesda, between 9:00 a.m. on 03-22-04 and 5:00 p.m. on 03-26-04. Pried open window, orange juice taken. 

           

3RD DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -SHAPIRO & DUNCAN MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR, 7891 Eastern Ave., Silver Spring, between 2:15 p.m. on 03-26-04 and 6:00 a.m. on 03-29-04.  Forced door, construction equipment and power tools taken.

            -BURNT MILLS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, 11211 Childs St., Silver Spring, between 4:00 p.m. on 03-26-04 and 7:45 a.m. on 03-29-04. Climbed through window, CD player taken.

            -PATS LAWN MOWER SERVICE INC., 15408 Columbia Pike, Burtonsville, between 5:00 p.m. on 03-30-04 and 6:45 a.m. on 03-31-04. Attempt only, pried garage door. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -1900 block of Treetop Lane, Silver Spring, between 12:00 p.m. and 1:16 p.m. on 03-28-04.  Pried door, stereo equipment, Nintendo Game System, Gameboy, and money taken.

            -9500 block of Dallas Ave., Silver Spring, between 10:30 a.m. and 8:35 p.m. on 03-31-04.  Forced open door, jewelry taken.

            -11300 block of Crescendo Place, Silver Spring, between 7:18 a.m. and 7:19 a.m. on 03-31-04.  Entered home, nothing taken.

 

4TH DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -11100 block of Lund Pl., Kensington, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. on 03-29-04.  Entered home, jewelry and money taken.

            -11400 block of Sherrie Lane, Wheaton, between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on 03-26-04.  Forced open window, liquor taken.

 

6TH DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -SPORT & HEALTH CLUB, 700 Russell Ave., Gaithersburg, between 6:00 p.m. on 03-27-04 and 6:45 a.m. on 03-28-04.  Entered business, money taken.

            -GUARDIAN REALTY MANAGEMENT, 702 Russell Ave., Gaithersburg, between 4:00 p.m. on 03-26-04 and 6:00 a.m. on 03-29-04.  Cut lock on shed, generator taken.

            -WHETSTONE ELEMENTARY, 19201 Thomas Farm Rd., Montgomery Village, between 9:25 p.m. and 11:39 p.m. on 03-29-04.  Forced open door, unknown what was taken.

            -RYLAND HOMES, 200 Sapling Hill Way, Gaithersburg, between 5:00 p.m. on 03-31-04 and 8:30 a.m. on 04-01-04. Cut lock on construction trailer, shop-vac, and carpet cleaner taken.

            -THE CRAFT SHOP, 405 S. Frederick Ave., Gaithersburg, between 6:30 p.m. on 04-01-04 and 9:00 a.m. on 04-02-04. Pried open door of storage trailer, nothing taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -9800 block of Brookridge Ct., Montgomery Village, on 03-20-04 during unknown times.  Attempt only, pried window frame.

            -9900 block of Gable Ridge Terr., Rockville, between 7:15 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on 03-29-04.  Climbed through window, weapon, DVDs, and money taken.

            -18700 block of Nathans Place, Gaithersburg, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on 03-31-04. Entered home, television and X-Box with games taken.
