RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

April 6, 2005

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 03-31-05 at 11:00 p.m., a 27-year-old male from the Northwest Park area of Silver Spring was walking along Avenel Road when the suspect approached him from behind, and demanded the victim’s cash.  The suspect had an object the victim believed to be a gun.  The victim had no money.  Suspect fled in an unknown direction.  The suspect is described as a black male, 17 to 18, 5’10” 130 to 140 lbs., wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black warm up pants. 

            -On 04-03-05 at 5:50 p.m., a 50-year-old male from Gaithersburg was walking in the wooded area to the rear of the 600 block of Gatehouse Court in Gaithersburg when he was approached from behind by the three suspects.  Two of the suspects were carrying sticks and struck the victim numerous times.  The suspects removed cash from the victim’s pockets. The victim was treated for lacerations at a local hospital.  The suspects fled in an unknown direction.  All three suspects are described as black males, about 16-years-old, 5’7”, 130 pounds and wearing dark blue jeans, and a parka. 

            -On 04-05-05, at 10:45 p.m., a 23 year-old New Jersey man who was staying at the Marriott in Gaithersburg went to the nearby Exxon station when he encountered a suspect. The suspect displayed a gun and demanded his wallet. The victim complied. Cash was taken from the wallet and the wallet returned. The suspect fled and was last seen crossing Christopher Avenue.

            -Suspect #1 – W/M, 20-25 years-old, 6’1”-6’3”, 170-190 lbs., crew cut hair, goatee, thin, white T-shirt, grey sweatshirt, grey pants.

 

CHILD ABUSE 

            -On 03-07-05, a 14 year-old female reported that she had had sexual intercourse with a 21 year-old male. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

 

SEX ASSAULT 

            -On 04-04-05, at 2:50 p.m., a 38-year-old female from the Pheasant Run area of Gaithersburg had just returned home, and was in the kitchen when a suspect approached her and displayed a knife.  The suspect ordered the victim to take her clothes off.  The suspect began to sexually assault the victim.  When the victim’s son called out from another area of the home, the suspect fled the residence through the front door.    The suspect is described as a black male, 20’s, 5’9”, with medium black hair, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. 

            -On 03-28-05, at 11:15 p.m., a 25-year-old female was walking in the area of Dalewood Drive and Bluehill Road when she observed the suspect on the sidewalk.  The victim was grabbed from behind.  There was a struggle between the victim and suspect during which, the suspect ripped the victim’s shirt and pants while attempting to assault her.  The victim broke free, and ran towards Bluehill Road.  The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5’0”, 100 lbs., with medium length black hair with dark skin.  He was wearing blue jeans, red wool hat and a gray sweatshirt. 

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARREST 

            -On 03-31-05 Jorge Adelberto Herrera-Matute, 30, of the 3000 block of Argendale Street in Dale City, Virginia, was arrested and charged with First Degree Assault.  The arrest was the result of an assault that occurred in the 4700 block of Chestnut Street in Bethesda.

 

WEAPONS ARREST 

            -On 04-02-05, at 11:30 p.m., in the 400 block of Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg, Darius Tyre Hoes, 23, of no-fixed address, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Possession of CDS – Crack Cocaine and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia.

 

INDECENT EXPOSURE ARREST 

            -On 04-03-05, James Edward Wyche, 34, of the 11400 block of Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring, was arrested and charged with Indecent Exposure.  The arrest was the result of an incident that had just occurred in the 11400 block of Lockwood Drive. 

            -On 04-02-05, Buruk H. Berhane, 24, of the 12700 block of Middlevale Lane in Silver Spring, was arrested and charged with Indecent Exposure, Possession of CDS – Cocaine and Possession of CD paraphernalia.  The arrest was the result of an incident that occurred in the 100 block of Watkins Mill Road in Gaithersburg.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 04-02-05, Mickel Paul Petricak, 25, of the 13200 block of Lake Geneva Way in Germantown, was arrested and charged with 4th Degree Burglary, Destruction of Property, 2nd Degree Assault and Trespassing.  The arrest was the result of an incident that had just occurred in the 03-25-05, at 12:27 p.m., Michael Lawrence Tinsley, 18, of the 2300 block of Blueridge Ave. in Silver Spring, was arrested and charged with 1st and 4th Degree Burglary and Malicious Destruction of Property Under $500.  The arrest was a result of an incident in the 12300 block of Brookhaven Drive.

1st DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -MIDAS MUFFLER, 16077 Frederick Rd. in Rockville, between 12:01 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on 04-04-05. Pried door, attempt only.

            -HOBBY WORKS, 12274 Rockville Pike, at 1:52 a.m. on 04-04-05. Pried front window, items taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -8100 block of Paisley Place in Potomac, between 9:00 a.m. on 03-27-05 and 9:00 a.m. on 03-31-05. Forced entry, nothing taken.

 

2ND DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -MYER EMCO, 10490 Auto park Dr. in Bethesda, at 4:54 a.m. on 04-03-05. Broke out front window, unknown amount taken.

            -FAIRFIELD RESIDENTIAL LLC., 1901 East West Hwy. in Silver Spring, between 5:00 p.m. on 04-01-05 and 10:30 a.m. on 04-02-05. Pried door, electric tools taken.

 

3RD DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -SPORT AND HEALTH, 11313 Lockwood Dr. in Silver Spring, between 11:00 p.m. on 03-30-05 and 5:45 a.m. on 03-31-05. Unlocked front door, cash taken.

            -LA BAMBA RESTAURANT, 8241 Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring, between midnight and 10:00 a.m. on 04-02-05. Pried front door, cash taken.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -1900 block of Lyttonsville Rd. in Silver Spring, 12-26-04 and 01-03-05. Forced entry, property taken.

            -11500 block of Lockwood Dr. in Silver Spring, between 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on 03-31-05. Forced entry, property taken.

            -9900 block of Gardiner Ave. in Silver Spring, between 3:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on 04-01-05. Threw rock, no entry, nothing taken.

 

5TH DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -HIGH POINT FARM, 17001 Germantown Rd. in Germantown, between 5:45 p.m. on 03-31-05 and 9:00 a.m. on 04-01-05. Broke out window, computer equipment taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -19500 block of Frederick Rd. in Germantown, between 10:20 a.m. and 10:15 p.m. on 04-03-05. Forced entry, property taken.

            -11100 block of Yellow Leaf Way in Germantown, between 8:00 p.m. on 03-30-05 and 11:30 a.m. on 03-31-05. Forced entry, property taken.

            -19900 block of Choctaw Ct. in Germantown, between 7:00 p.m. on 03-25-05 and 2:00 a.m. on 04-04-05. Forced entry, property taken.

            -7400 block of Cutty Sark Way in Laytonsville, between 12:30 p.m. on 03-30-05 and 9:00 p.m. on 03-31-05. Forced entry, property taken.

 

6TH DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -9100 block of Centerway Rd. in Gaithersburg, between 8:10 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. on 04-04-05. Forced entry, cash taken.
