RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

April 12, 2006

 

ARMED COMMERCIAL ROBBERIES

            -On 04-10-06 at approximately 11:30 p.m., a pizza delivery driver was making a delivery in the 1700 block of Mt. Pisgah Lane in Silver Spring, when he was confronted by a man with a handgun who demanded money from the delivery driver.  After getting the money, the suspect ran up the street and got into a red car driven by a second suspect.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’9”, 165 lbs., black hair in cornrows or braids, black hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants, armed with a handgun.
            -Suspect #2 – Unknown, no description given. 

            -On 04-03-06 at 8:30 p.m., a suspect with a gun entered the Excell Gas Station located at 13455 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring, and demanded money.  After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect exited the store in an unknown direction.
            - Suspect – B/M, 18 to 25, 5’8” to 5’9”, 170 to 180 lbs., brown hair, wearing black sweatshirt, black pants, armed with a handgun. 

            -On 04-06-06 at 12:45 a.m., a Barwood cab driver picked up a man at the Hyatt in Bethesda.  The man said he wanted to go to Clopper Road and Great Seneca Highway in Gaithersburg.  When they got to that intersection, the man told the driver to go to the dead end of Swiss Circle.  The man then produced a handgun and demanded money from the cab driver.  After getting cash, the man got out of the cab and was last seen running down Wonderland Way toward Chalet Drive.
            -Suspect – B/M, 20 to 25, 6’0”, 185 lbs., wearing a blue nylon jacket with stripes on the sleeves, blue jeans, black knit cap, tennis shoes, armed with a handgun. 

            -On 04-04-06 at 4:20 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Quince Orchard Road to take the report of armed robber of a cab driver that had occurred earlier.  Officers learned that an Aspen Cab driver had picked up a man at Connecticut Avenue and M Street in Washington, D.C., who asked to be driven to the 18000 block of Cottage Drive in Germantown.  Once they arrived there, the man produced a gun and took money from the driver.  The man then got out of the cab and got into a small black car with unknown tags that headed toward Interstate 270.
            -Suspect – B/M, 25 to 30, 6’1”, 165 lbs., wearing a dark blue athletic jacket, blue jeans and white sneakers, armed with a handgun.

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 04-09-06 at 1:00 a.m., a 28-year-old man and a 16-year-old female, both from Damascus, were driving on Walter Johnson Drive approaching  Wisteria Drive in Germantown, when their vehicle was block off by a vehicle in the front and rear.  Suspect #1 opened both doors of the victim’s vehicle, assaulted the male, and threatened additional violence.  Suspect #1 implied he has a weapon and then took property from the male victim before leaving the scene in his car.
            - Suspect #1 – B/M, 25 to 35, 6’0 to 6’3”, 280 lbs., heavy build, bald head, moles on his face, wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood, black jeans, driving a dark green Ford Crown Victoria.
            - Suspect #2 – unknown, driving a dark green 2-door Honda Civic CRX. 

            -On 04-04-06 at 8:20 p.m., a 72-year-old man from Burtonsville was in the 12500 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring when he was approached from behind by a suspect with a gun who demanded money.  After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled on foot toward the Glenmont Metro station.
            -Suspect – B/M, 25 to 35, 5’09 to 5’10”, 180 to 210 lbs., wearing dark-colored sweatshirt and pants, armed with a handgun. 

            -On 03-31-06 at 11:00 p.m., a 44-year-old man from Silver Spring was in the 14200 block of Weeping Willow Drive in Silver Spring, when he was approached by a man with a gun.  After getting property from the victim, the suspect assaulted the man and fled they area in a black car that headed toward Bel Pre Road.
            - Suspect – B/M, wearing all black clothing. 

            -On 03-31-06 at 9:10 p.m., a 24-year-old man from Wheaton was in the area of the 2600 block of Dawson Avenue in Silver Spring, when he was approached by three men.  While one of the men pointed a gun at the victim, the other two suspects searched the victim and took property from him.  The suspect with the gun then physically assaulted the victim and the three suspects ran from the area to a silver/gray, 4-door car and drove off toward Grandview Avenue.
            - Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’8” to 5’9”, 180 to 190 lbs., wearing blue jeans, black puffy jacket, armed with a handgun.
            - Suspect #2 – B/M, wearing blue jeans and a black puffy jacket.
            - Suspect #3 – B/M, wearing black jeans and a black hooded sweater. 

            -On 03-30-06 at 9:50 p.m., a 26-year-old woman from Wheaton was walking in the 2200 block of Greenery Lane in Wheaton when a man approached her and demanded her property.  The victim, who believed that the suspect had a gun, gave him her property and the suspect fled on foot up Greenery Lane toward Layhill Road.
            - Suspect – B/M, 20 to 30, 5’08”, medium build, wearing blue jeans and a black and white baggie hooded jacket. 

            -On 04-09-06 at 9:27 p.m., a 54-year-old man from Silver Spring was in the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace in Silver Spring, when he was approached and physically assaulted.  Suspect #1 displayed a handgun and another one of the suspects removed property from the victim.  All three suspects then ran toward New Hampshire Avenue.
            - Suspect #1 – M, wearing a black winter coat, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes, armed with a handgun.
            - Suspect #2 – M, wearing a gray winter jacket, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes.
            - Suspect #3 – M, wearing a black winter coat, blue jeans and black tennis shoes. 

 

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 04-10-06 at 10:13 p.m., a 15-year-old female and an 18-year-old male, both from Silver Spring, were in the 11300 block of Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring, when they were confronted by a group of male suspects who began to follow them.  One of the suspects assaulted the 18-year-old and took property from the 15-year-old.  The group of suspects then ran off toward New Hampshire Avenue.
            - Suspect #1 – M, wearing black pants and a gray and green vest.
            - Additional Suspects – M, no further descriptions. 

            -On 04-11-06 at 8:40 p.m., a 30-year-old man from Silver Spring was in the 11500 block of Stewart Lane in Silver Spring, when he was approached from behind by three suspects who grabbed property from him and casually walked away down Stewart Lane toward Lockwood Drive.
            - Suspect #1 – B/M. 13 to 17, 5’6”, 140 lbs., wearing a white t-shirt and black pants.
            - Suspect #2 – B/M, 143 to 17, 6’4”, 130 lbs., wearing a blue half-shirt, black pants, and black knit cap.
            - Suspect #3 – B/M, 13 to 17, 5’3”, 120 lbs., wearing a gold short sleeve shirt. 

            -On 04-06-06 at 11:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man from Burtonsville was at a bus stop at New Hampshire Avenue and Powder Mill Road in Hillandale when he was approached by two suspects.  After a short conversation, the suspects assaulted the victim and took property from him.  The suspects then ran behind some nearby buildings.
            - Suspect #1 – M, wearing a black North Face jacket and a black hat.
            - Suspect #2 – M, wearing a long black jacket and black pants. 

            -On 04-07-06 at 10:45 p.m., a 17-year-old male from Silver Spring was at the intersection of E. Schuyler Road and Long Branch Road in Silver Spring when two suspects approached him.  The suspects grabbed property from the victim and fled toward a nearby park.
            - Suspect #1 – B/M, no further descriptions.
            - Suspect #2 – B/M, no further descriptions. 

            -On 03-29-06 at 8:00 p.m., a 26-year-old man from Gaithersburg was in the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Road in Germantown when a suspect assaulted him and searched him for property.  The suspect did not take any property and left the area in a car with Maryland tags.
            - Suspect – B/M, 25 to 30, 6’0” to 6’1”, 250 to 260 lbs. 

            -On 04-07-06 at 1:49 p.m., a 58-year-old woman from Germantown was putting her purchases into her car in a parking lot in the 10900 block of Frederick Road in Germantown  when a male suspect grabbed her property and ran to a vehicle occupied by a female suspect.  They were last seen driving out of the parking lot.
            - Suspect #1 – W/M, 30 to 35, very short hair, wearing blue jeans, green jacket and black hat.
            - Suspect #2 – W/M, 30 to 35, ponytail, driving a maroon, 2-door car with Maryland tags.

            -12300 block of Village Square Terrace in Rockville, between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 04-05-06.   Forced entry, property taken.
