RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

April 13, 2006

 

ROBBERY 

-On 4-9-06 at 6:15 p.m., a 29-year-old man and his 35-year-old brother, both of Germantown, were walking in the area of the Fox Chapel Park in Germantown, when they were approached by two subjects.  The suspects asked for money, and when they were refused, they beat the victim and his brother about the body with their fists.  No property was reported missing.  The victim and his brother sustained minor injuries.

        Suspect #1 – B/M, 18-24, 5’4”-5’6”, 140-150 lbs., thin build.  He had a dark brown complexion, and wore his hair in cornrows.  He wore a white t-shirt and baggy black jeans.

        Suspect #2 – B/M, 18-24, 5’4”-5’6”, 140-150 lbs.  He wore his hair in cornrows, and had a beard.  He was wearing a white t-shirt and baggy blue jeans. 

 

ROBBERY ARREST 

     -      On 04-07-06 at 1:49 p.m., a 58-year-old woman from Germantown was putting her purchases into her car in a parking lot in the 10900 block of Frederick Road in Germantown when a male suspect grabbed her property and ran to a vehicle occupied by a female suspect. Nicholas Shane Brown, age 26, of no fixed address, was developed as the male suspect and he was arrested on 04-12-06.  He was charged with robbery and theft under $100 and is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Center on a bond of $15,000.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARRESTS 

      -     On 4-6-06 at 7:58 p.m., a 24-year-old Silver Spring man reported that he and his brother had argued, and that his brother had threatened him with a knife while the victim worked in a restaurant located in the 900 block of Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring.  The altercation caused patrons of the restaurant to flee.  Police arrived, and arrested the man, 28-year-old Thanh Nguyen of no fixed address.  He was charged with attempted 1st degree assault, two counts of 2nd degree assault, carrying a dangerous/deadly weapon with intent to injure, disorderly intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.  The victim received no injuries. 

       -   On 4-10-06 at 6:35 p.m., a 30-year-old Germantown woman and a 27-year-old woman, Jacqueline Lavern Ford of the 18000 block of Perrone Drive in Germantown, got into a verbal altercation.  Ford was angry about her son being hit with a baseball bat by the other woman’s son, and had brought the bat with her, and the argument became very heated.  The other woman retrieved a knife to defend herself.  Ford got into her vehicle, a white 2002 Ford Taurus, and struck the victim in her legs with the vehicle, before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.  A witness gave police information, which led them to arrest Ford.  She was charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault.  The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.

THEFT

      -     On 4-10-06 at 11:00 a.m., a 65-year-old Rockville man entered the elevator at 50 Edmonston Drive, along with two black males.  One tried to distract the victim by dropping an item to the elevator floor.  At this time, Suspect #2 removed the victim’s wallet from his back pocket.  The victim grabbed his wallet and punched Suspect #2 in the stomach.  Both suspects fled the elevator.  The victim was not injured. 

 

INDECENT EXPOSURE 

      -     On 4-7-06 at 6:05 a.m., a 52-year-old Rockville woman reported that she was in her kitchen, when she noticed a man on her back deck exposing himself.  He fled before the arrival of police.

        Suspect – Unknown/M, 6’0”, 200 lb., wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

 

UNDERAGE DRINKING PARTIES 

     -      On 04-08-06 at 1:00 a.m., officers from the Alcohol Initiatives Section responded to a residence in the Bancroft community of Sandy Spring for the report of an underage drinking party.  Eight juvenile citations were issued. 

     -      On 04-07-06 at 9:51 p.m., officers from the Alcohol Initiatives Section responded to a residence in the Westlake area of Bethesda for the report of an underage drinking party.  Ten juvenile citations and six adult citations were issued. 

 

BURGLARY 

1st DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

      -     8500 block of Horseshoe Lane in Potomac, between 8:00 a.m. on 4-6-06 and 2:45 p.m. on 4-10-06.  Forced entry, property taken.    

 -          12300 block of Selfridge Road in Silver Spring, between 5:15 p.m. and 5:24 p.m. on 4-11-06.  Forced entry, nothing taken. 

      -     12800 block of Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville, between 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 4-12-06.  Forced entry, property taken.
