RECENT CRIME SUMMARY
April 20, 2005
ARMED ROBBERY
-On
04-17-05, at 12:12 p.m., the 7-11 store, located at 9254 New
Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring, was robbed. A lone suspect entered
the store, displayed a gun, and demanded cash. The suspect took cash
from the register and then left the store on-foot traveling in an
unknown direction.

-Suspect #1 B/M, 60,
180 lbs., black clothes, white gloves.
-On
04-17-05, at 4:50 p.m., a 25 year-old Pennsylvania man was sitting
in his Dodge Durango in the 8300 block of Colesville Rd. in Silver
Spring when 3 black males jumped out of a white vehicle and
approached the victim. They began to assault the victim and took
his keys and cash; and then fled in the white vehicle. It was last
seen headed west on Eastern Ave. towards Georgia Avenue.

-Suspects three B/Ms,
18-20, 58-510, 130-150 lbs., wearing blue jeans, two with white
T-shirts, one with a black T-shirt.
ARMED
ROBBERY/ARREST
-On
04-09-05, at 8:17 p.m., Fredis Otero Caranza, age 26, of the unit
block of Frederick Ave. in Gaithersburg, was arrested and charged
with Armed Robbery, and 1st and 2nd Degree Assault. The
arrest was a result of altercation involving a knife at an apartment
in Gaithersburg where the defendant and another suspect fought with
2 victims.
-On
04-15-05, at 8:50 p.m., Tavaughn Deonte Funderburk, age 28, of the
16900 block of Longdraft Rd. in Gaithersburg, was arrested and
charged with Robbery. The arrest was a result of an attempted
robbery of the CVS Pharmacy at 18080 Mateny Rd. in Germantown.
-On
04-19-05, at 1:20 a.m., a 46-year-old Gaithersburg woman was in the
9700 block of Hellingly Place in Gaithersburg when she was
approached by a suspect. The suspect demanded her wallet and pushed
her to the ground. The suspect took her purse and fled on foot
towards Christopher Avenue.

56-59, 160-185 lbs., black clothes.
STRONG ARM
ROBBERY
-On
04-16-05, at 9:35 p.m., a 41-year-old Silver Spring woman was
walking on Newell St. at Kennett St. in Silver Spring when a red
Jeep Cherokee pulled up to her. Three suspects exited the Jeep and
began to follow the victim. Eventually, they began to punch the
woman and took her purse. They then fled in the Jeep onto East West
Hwy. towards Colesville Road.

-Suspects three B/M,
20-25, 57-60, two with black clothes, one with long white
T-shirt and dark trousers.
-On
04-15-05, at 11:45 a.m., a student at Blair High School was walking
around the side of the building when 2 suspects approached and asked
for money. He said he had none. They walked away and the came back
and took his cell phone.

Suspect #1 and #2 B/M,
14-17, 55-59, blue and gray Northface jacket.
-On
04-15-05, at 8:46 p.m., an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old male, both
from Silver Spring were in standing on the sidewalk in the 8500
block of Colesville Road in Silver Spring when the suspect
approached with a group of males. Both victims started to walk away
when the suspect removed a cap from the victims head. The suspect
also took a jacket and cash. The Suspect then fled on foot. Only
one suspect description was provided.

Suspect black male, 20
to 22, 58 to 59, 150 to 160 lbs., black dread-locks, goatee and
was wearing all black clothing.
STRONG ARM
ROBBERY ARREST
-On
04-14-05, George Eugene Howard, 40, and John Daniel Collins, 44,
both of no fixed address were arrested and charged with Robbery and
2nd Degree Assault. The arrests were the result of an
incident that occurred in the unit block of N. Summit Drive in
Gaithersburg.
AGGRAVATED
ASSAULT
-On
04-16-05, at 1:30 a.m., a 21-year-old male from Gaithersburg, was
assaulted with a box cutter after a domestic argument. The incident
occurred in Gaithersburg earlier in the day.
AGGRAVATED
ASSAULT ARRESTS
-On
04-12-05, John William Tripp, 34, of the 4300 block of Ambler Drive
in Kensington, was arrested and charged with two counts of 1st
Degree Assault and two counts of Reckless Endangerment. The arrest
was the result of an incident against two juveniles from the area.
PEEPING
TOM
-On
04-10-05, at 6:00 a.m., a 23-year-old female was awakened by the
suspect shining a flashlight through the basement window of a
residence in the 4300 block of Western Avenue in Chevy Chase. The
suspect fled in an unknown direction. The Suspect is described as a
white male, 511 to 602, thin build, medium length curly hair,
wearing a navy blue or black hooded sweat shirt, dark jeans, and a
dark colored baseball cap.

-8200 block of Meadowbrook Lane in Chevy Chase, between 1:00 p.m.
