RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

April 26, 2005 

 

RAPE 

      -On 04-13-05, a 32-year-old female from Hyattsville reported that she had been raped between 07-01-04 and 08-31-04 in a vehicle in the area of Hampshire West Court and Avenel Road in the Hillandale area of Silver Spring.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 04-16-05, a 22-year-old female from Silver Spring reported she had been raped by two individuals in a residence in Rockville.  One suspect is known, investigation is continuing. 

            -On 04-18-05, at 11:40 a.m., an adult female from Takoma Park was in the area of Piney Branch Rd. in Silver Spring, visiting a friend, when a man talked her into coming to an apartment with him. Once there, he raped her and then fled in a 1993 Dodge mini van. The suspect’s identity is known, and in fact, he was later arrested by police.

 

ATTEMPT RAPE/KIDNAPPING 

            -On 04-14-05, between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., a 16-year-old Gaithersburg girl was held against her will in a house in Silver Spring and threatened with rape. The suspects’ identifies are known and the investigation is continuing.

 

PEEPING TOM 

            -On 04-19-05, at 11:30 p.m., a person at a residence in the unit block of Quincy St. in Chevy Chase reported that a suspect was seen looking in a window at this address. The victim went outside to confront him, but he fled and was last seen running toward the 3800 block of Bradley Lane.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-40, 5’8”-5’10”, thin, black skullcap, blue T-shirt.

 

INDECENT EXPOSURE 

            -On 04-21-05, at 8:50 a.m., a 25-year-old Washington, D.C. woman reported that she was walking north on Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda when she encountered a man walking by her and exposing himself. The suspect is described as an Hispanic male, 28-35, 5’6”-5’7”, 140-150 lbs., thin mustache, wavy greasy hair, brown work boots, dark T-shirt, brown and tan hunting styled patterned pants, dark complexion, and of a Central American decent.

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 04-21-05, at 4:10 p.m., a home in the 12800 block of Esworthy Rd. in North Potomac was the scene of a home invasion robbery. Suspect #1 knocked on the door and the Au Pair inadvertently left the door open. The suspect forced his way in and sprayed the eyes of the victim. He threatened her with a silver handgun. The victim went upstairs and the suspect took a safe from the master bedroom. He and another suspect fled westbound on Esworthy in the direction of River Road.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 25, 5’11”, 150 lbs., slight moustache, black clothing.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, red shirt.

            -On 04-20-05, at 7:35 a.m., the U. S. Postal Service office, located at 7945 MacArthur Blvd. in Cabin John was the scene of an attempted armed robbery. A lone suspect entered the office and displayed a large pistol. He demanded money. They said there was none and the suspect left the building and fled on a new looking black bike with black tape on the handlebars.
            -Suspect #1 – M, 5’11”, 180-200 lbs., dark blue pants, black jacket, ski mask.

            -On 04-21-05, at 9:00 p.m., a 32-year-old Silver Spring man was parking his truck in the 700 block of Langley Dr. in Silver Spring when he was approached by 2 suspects. Suspect #1 displayed a handgun and ordered the victim back into the vehicle. They drove to the park where the suspects demanded money. The victim handed over some cash.  The suspects took off running towards University Boulevard.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 24-25, 6’0”-6’2”, 200-230 lbs., heavy build, blue jeans, dark colored sweater.

            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 24-25, 5’11”-6’1”, 190-210 lbs., medium build, blue jeans, black puffy jacket. 

            -On 04-21-05, at 7:05 p.m., a 25-year-old Gaithersburg man was cleaning his car in the 400 block of Muddy Branch Rd. in Gaithersburg when he was approached from behind by a suspect. The suspect struck the victim with a handgun and demanded his wallet. The suspect took cash from the wallet. The suspect then fled into the building next door. The suspect emerged, and fled on a blue bicycle.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 18, 5’6”, 150 lbs., black jacket, blue jeans, blue shirt, black bandana. 

-On 04-21-05, at 12:30 a.m., an adult male from Wheaton was stopped by two suspects at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Reedie Drive.  The victim was pushed to the ground and Suspect #1 displayed a knife.  Both suspects fled the scene towards the Wheaton Metro Station after obtaining the victims wallet.

        Suspect #1 – Hispanic male, 5’6” to 6’, 160 lbs., wearing a black shirt and black pants.

        Suspect #2 – Hispanic male, 5’3”, 150 lbs., wearing an orange shirt and black pants. 

           -On 04-19-05, at 10:45 p.m., a 58-year-old Silver Spring man was in the 1700 block of Hampshire Green Lane when he was hit on the head by an unknown suspect. The victim fell to the ground and was unconscious. Police arrived and the victim was transported to the local hospital with severe head injuries. Property taken included clothing, briefcase, and two cell phones.
      -Suspect #1 – B/M, 19-20, 5’11”-6’0”, 200-230 lbs., long blue jean shorts, white T-shirt.

 

CARJACKING 

            -On 04-17-05, at 12:04 a.m., was pumping gas in the 11400 block of Rockville Pike in Rockville, when the suspect entered the vehicle and attempted to start it.  Victim yelled at the suspect to get out of her car.  Suspect refused, victim reached into the vehicle to try and stop him.  While they struggled the victim struck her head and arm on the car as the car drove off.  The vehicle was last seen southbound on Rockville Pike.

        Suspect – black male, 20 to 30, 6’3”, 240 lbs., short black chair, wearing a red jacket, shirt and jeans.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARREST

            -On 04-16-05, William Andre Brown, 27, of the 8600 block of 16th Street in Silver Spring, was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd Degree Assault and 1st Degree Burglary.  The arrest was the result of an incident that had just occurred in the 8600 block of 16th Street. 

            -On 04-18-05, at 7:40 p.m., Robert D. Turner, age 34, of the 17600 block of Kohlhoss Rd. in Poolesville and Keith D. Delts age 32, of the 8200 block of Amity Circle in Gaithersburg, were arrested and charged with 1 count of disorderly conduct and 1 count of Malicious Destruction of Property. The arrests were a result of a fight at a restaurant in Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 04-22-05, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a 22-year-old Silver Spring man was leaving a restaurant at White Flint Mall in Rockville when a suspect punched him in the back in the parking lot. Later, on the ride home, he discovered blood and knew he had been stabbed. He was taken by his friend, the driver, to the local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The victim said he had never seen the suspect before. He had encountered him a short time earlier in the restaurant but thought nothing of it.
            -Suspect #1 – Asian/M, 21-24.

            -On 04-12-05, at 8:45 a.m., a 30 year-old man was stabbed in the leg when he attempted break up a fight between two co-workers. The victim was taken to the local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  No suspect information was given.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 04-20-05, at midnight, Ming Yi Jang, age 23, of the 1300 block of Crockett Lane in Silver Spring was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, Theft over and under $500, Malicious Destruction of Property, and Resisting Arrest. The arrest was a result of a burglary at The Lynbrook Center in Bethesda.

1ST DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -5600 block of Hogenhill Terrace in Rockville, at 7:20 p.m. on 04-15-05. Forced entry, property taken.

 

2nd DISTRICT

RESIDENTIAL

            -5600 block of Western Ave. in Chevy Chase, between 9:00 p.m. on 04-13-05 and 7:30 a.m. on 04-14-05. Broke through garage door, bike taken.

            -5300 block of Wilson Lane in Bethesda, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on 04-14-05. Broke through garage door, bike and wine taken. 

COMMERCIAL

            -POOK’S HILL MARRIOTT, 5151 Pooks, Hill Road in Bethesda, between 6:00 p.m. on 04-11-05 and 3:00 p.m. on 04-12-05.   Entered hotel room, property taken.

            -DUNMOOR BEER AND WINE, 8013 Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda, between, 3:58 a.m. on 04-16-05.   Forced entry, property taken.

            -MIZELL LUMBAR AND HARDWARE, 10500 St. Paul St. in Kensington, between 3:00 p.m. on 04-16-05 and 7:00 a.m. on 04-17-05.    Forced entry, property taken.

            -MONTGOMERY CO. PUBLIC SCHOOLS – LUXMANOR, 6201 Tilden Lane in Rockville, at 11:11 p.m. on 04-20-05. Ripped screen, attempt only.

            -MYER EMCO, INC., 10490 Auto Park Dr. in Bethesda, at 3:02 a.m. on 04-20-05. Smashed window, unknown amount taken.

 

3RD DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -1200 block of Prospect St. in Takoma Park, between 10:30 p.m. and 11:44 p.m. on 04-17-05. Forced entry, property taken.

 

5TH DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -24000 block of Sugar Cane Lane in Damascus, between 9:45 a.m. and 3:05 p.m. on 04-19-05. Climbed through rear window, property taken.
