RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

April 27, 2005

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 04-21-05, at 9:20 p.m., a 32-year-old Silver Spring man was parked in the 700 block of Langley Dr. in Silver Spring when he was approached by two suspects.  Suspect #1 approached the victim when he got out of the car and displayed a handgun and then ordered the victim to drive to a nearby park.  Once there, both suspects took cash from the victim and suspect #1 hit him on the head with an unknown object. The suspect then took off running towards University Boulevard.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 24-25, 6’0”-6’2”, 200-230 lbs., heavy-set, blue jeans, dark sweater.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 24-25, 5’11”-6’1”, 190-210 lbs., black puffy jacket, blue jeans.

            -On 04-23-05, at 11:00 p.m., a 27-year-old Silver Spring man was in the parking lot of the 13900 block of Castle Blvd. when he was approached from behind by two suspects. One suspect displayed a folding knife and demanded money. The victim complied and then the suspects fled the area in an unknown direction.  Both suspects are described as black males, 20-25, 5’11”-6’, 160-180 lbs., wearing blue jeans, black hooded sweatshirts, and black bandanas.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 04-22-05, at 8:00 p.m., a 52-year-old Kensington woman was in the parking lot in the 3300 block of University Blvd. in Kensington, when a suspect approached her.  As the victim got out of her car, the suspect attempted to grab her purse and a struggle ensued.  The victim fell to the ground and the suspect fled the scene with her purse. The suspect is described as an unknown race male, wearing a blue shirt, tan pants, black boots.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 04-22-05, at 5:36 p.m., a 25-year-old Washington, D.C. woman was involved in a hit and run collision in the area of Rockville Pike and Pooks Hill Road. The victim followed the suspects to a building in the 10200 block of Rockville Pike.  Once there, the suspects got out of the vehicle, a black Nissan Altima with Maryland tags.  The female suspect told the victim she should leave the area and a male suspect displayed a gun.  The suspects then got back into the vehicle and fled the area.  It was later found by police on Alta Vista Rd. in Bethesda with no occupants.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-30, 5’8”-5’10”, 175-200 lbs., dreadlocks, black bomber jacket, blue jeans.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 24-30, 6’4”, 220 lbs., buckteeth, scar on face, tattoo on right arm.
            -Suspect #3 – B/F, 20-30, 5’4”-5’6”, corn rows, white shirt, blue jeans.

 

INDECENT EXPOSURE 

            -On 04-21-05, at 8:30 a.m., a 33-year-old Silver Spring woman was sitting on a bench at Wisconsin Ave. and Cumberland Ave. in Bethesda when a suspect approached and exposed himself.  The victim moved a short distance away and later observed the same man exposing himself to a new occupant of the bench.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic male, 18-25, 5’7”, short black hair, unshaven, brown pants.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT/ARREST 

            -On 04-21-05, at 9:30 a.m., Lee Sauro age 30, of the 200 block of Thaxton St. in Gaithersburg was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd Degree Assault, Attempted 1st Degree Assault, Theft Under $500, and Malicious Destruction of Property Under $500. The arrest was the result of an incident at the Giant Food on Falls Road in Potomac.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

            -NORMANDY FARMS RESTAURANT, 10710 Falls Road in Potomac, between 12:01 a.m. on 04-23-05 and 7:45 a.m. on 04-24-05.  Forced entry, nothing taken. 

RESIDENTIAL

            -8200 block of Raymond Lane in Potomac, between1:00 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. on 04-21-05.  Forced entry, nothing taken.

            -10800 block of Kirkwall Terrace in Potomac, between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on 04-25-05.  Entry made, no force, property taken.

            -11200 block of Tara Road in Potomac, between 12:00 p.m. on 04-19-05 and 7:18 p.m. on 04-22-05.  Entry made, no force, property taken.

            -8700 block of Liberty Lane in Potomac, on between 9:25 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on 04-21-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

 

3rd DISTRICT

COMMERCIAL 

            -FOREST GLEN APARTMENTS, 2102 Belvedere Blvd., in the Forest Glen area of Silver Spring, between 5:00 p.m. on 04-24-05 and 9:00 a.m. on 04-25-05.  Forced entry, property taken. 

RESIDENTIAL

            -11400 block of Lockwood Drive in the White Oak area of Silver Spring, between 10:40 a.m. and 10:55 a.m. on 04-24-05.  Forced entry, nothing taken.

            -1900 block of Grace Church Rd. in the Rosemary Hills area of Silver Spring, between 2:30 p.m. on 04-15-05 and 6:00 a.m. on 04-18-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

 

6th DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -18400 block of Mayapple Court in Gaithersburg, between 7:45 p.m. on 04-21-05 and 8:30 a.m. on 04-23-05.  Entry made, no force, property taken.

            -100 block of Watkins Mill Road in Gaithersburg, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on 04-13-05.  Entry made, no force, property taken.

            -20000 Cinnabar Drive in Gaithersburg, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on 04-12-05.  Forced entry, nothing taken.

            -18500 block of Sweet Autumn Drive, between 7:35 a.m. and 6:59 p.m. on 04-20-05.  Forced entry, property taken.
