RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

April 27, 2006

ARMED ROBBERY

            -On 04-22-06, at 11:35 p.m., a 24-year-old Silver Spring man was taking out the trash in the 2100 block of Belvedere Blvd. in Silver Spring when he was approached by 3 suspects. Suspect #1 displayed a gun and took his cell phone and wallet. The suspects fled towards Georgia Avenue.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’8”-5’9”, 150 lbs., black clothing.
            -Suspect #2 and #3 – Hispanic/M, 5’8”-5’9”, 150 lbs., black clothing.

BANK ROBBERY

            -On 04-20-06, at 10:15 a.m., the Wachovia Bank, located at 110 Congressional Lane in Rockville was robbed. Two suspects entered the bank and demanded cash. Suspect #1 displayed a gun. Cash was taken from the bank and the suspects fled the scene by exiting out the front door.
-Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’8”-5’10”, 150-170 lbs., black mask, navy blue long sleeve coveralls, white sneakers.
-Suspect #2 – B/M, black mask, navy blue long sleeve coveralls.

ATTEMPT ROBBERY 

            -On 04-21-06, at 10:30 p.m., a 19-year-old Silver Spring man was in the area of the 9100 block of Bradford Rd. in Silver Spring when 3 suspects approached him. They demanded money and when the victim did not respond, they sprayed him with mace. The suspects then entered an unknown van. No property was taken.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, teen, 5’11”, m180 lbs., black clothing.
            -Suspect #2 – Hispanic/M, teen, 5’5”, 140 lbs., black clothing. 

            -On 04-24-06, at 7:35 p.m., a 41-year-old Silver Spring man was standing in the 1600 block of Sanford Rd. in Silver Spring when a suspect approached and asked for a cigarette. The suspect then produced a folding knife and demanded money. The victim said he had none. A resident from a home came out and scared the suspect away.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 15-20, 5’5”-5’7”, 150 lbs., very short hair, mustache.

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 04-20-06, at 2:40 p.m., a 15-year-old Silver Spring youth got off a bus and was on Oak Leaf Rd. near Lockwood Dr.  in White Oak when a suspect followed him off the bus and threatened him, demanding his cell phone. An unknown person pulled up in a vehicle and scared the suspect off. The suspect fled on foot with the victim’s cell phone.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 17-19, 6’0”-6’2”, 180-190 lbs., white shirt with green painted design, blue jeans, white sneakers.

            -On 04-01-06, at 3:30 p.m., a 16-year-old Gaithersburg youth was walking in the tunnel under Stedwick Rd. near Watkins Mill Rd. in Montgomery Village when 3 black males approached him from behind. Suspect #1 pulled the victim’s hat and Suspects #2 and #3 stole a wallet, radio, and cell phone. The suspects then fled on foot towards the Mills Choice Apartments. The victim did not report the incident until 4/20/06 and there was no description of the suspects provided.

            -On 04-22-06, at 12:20 p.m., a 28-year-old Silver Spring man was making a delivery to a restaurant in the 11400 block of Cherry Hill Rd. when Suspect #1 grabbed him from behind and Suspect #2 tried to get his wallet. A struggle ensued and the suspects got the wallet and fled towards Maryland Farms Apartments. The victim refused medical treatment for minor injuries.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 6’1”, thin, black T-shirt, black jeans, black sweater.
            -Suspect #2 – W/M, wearing a white t-shirt, NFD.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

            -On 04-22-06, at 9:55 a.m., a 23-year-old Germantown woman was making a bank deposit for Blockbuster Video, 12619 Wisteria Drive in Germantown when she was confronted by a suspect. The suspect demanded cash and a brief struggle ensued. The suspect took cash and fled on foot.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’6”-5’7”, bald, thin, black pants, gray sweatshirt, black sneakers.

            -On 04-19-06, at 9:45 p.m., a 23-year-old Silver Spring man was leaving City Place Mall in his vehicle when he noticed a suspect following him. When the victim stopped for a red light at Colesville Rd. and Sligo Creek Parkway, the suspect pulled along side and displayed a gun. The suspect then pulled a U turn and headed south on Colesville Road.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 18-23, 5’4”-5’6”, 160-180 lbs., corn rows, white T-shirt, blue baseball hat.

INDECENT EXPOSURE 

            -On 04-19-06 at 7:10 a.m., a 27-year-old Burtonsville woman reported that she encountered a naked man while she was walking her dogs in the wooded area between Angelton Terrace and Childress Terrace. The suspect passed her while clothed in a white t-shirt and blue jean shorts and then disappeared. When she saw him again he had discarded his clothes and was jogging past her. The victim did not report the incident until 4:27 p.m.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 34-35 years-old, 6’0”, 170 lbs., beard, short hair.
