RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

May 1, 2006

 

PEEPING TOM 

            -On 04-21-06, at 10:30 a.m., a 49-year-old Gaithersburg woman reported that she had seen a Hispanic male peering into her window and he ran off when she threatened him with a knife. The blinds were up and her bed is in easy view of the window.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, 18, 5’7”, 160 lbs., thin.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 03-17-06, at 10:13 p.m., a 33-year-old Gaithersburg woman was leaving the Giant on Bureau Dr. in Gaithersburg when a suspect approached her. He grabbed the victim’s purse and tried to take it from her. A struggle ensued. She lost the purse containing cash, credit cards, Va. License, and a cell phone. The suspect fled toward Firstfield Road.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, camouflage jacket, black jeans, black mask. 

            -On 04-23-06, at 6:30 p.m., a 34-year-old Germantown woman was walking in the 19100 block of Montgomery Village Ave. with another adult female and 2 children when she was approached by several young black males and one white male. Suspect #1 grabbed her purse and the strap broke. The suspects fled on foot. A purse and cell phone were taken.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 15-16, 5’4”, 180 lbs., stubble, white shirt, white bandana, blue pants.
            -Suspect #2 – W/M, 15-16, 5’2”, white shirt, blue shorts, purple bandana.
            -Suspect #3 – B/M, 15-16, 5’8”-6’0”, thin, white shirt.

ATTEMPT BANK ROBBERY 

            -On 04-25-06, at 12:47 p.m., the Provident Bank, located at 5110 Nicholson Lane in Kensington was the scene of an attempted bank robbery. A lone suspect entered the bank and approached the teller. The teller recognized the suspect from a photo taped to his desk as a suspect in a previous robbery. The teller stalled the suspect and the suspect eventually left the bank. No property was taken.

            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’5”-5’6”, 155-165 lbs., braids, goatee and sideburns, thin, white shirt, black hat, shorts, and gloves.

 

ARRESTS 

            -On 04-22-06, at 8:55 p.m., Tanya Mae Patterson, age 24, of the 11300 block of Bent Creek St. in Germantown was arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery of a business. The arrest was a result of an attempted robbery of a gas station in the 19300 block of Montgomery Village Avenue in Montgomery Village. 

            -On 04-20-06, at 11:45 p.m., Fernando Rodas, age 31, no fixed address, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The arrest was a result of an incident in the 200 block of East Diamond Avenue, outside a restaurant in Gaithersburg where the defendant threatened a police officer among others. 

            -On 04-16-06, at 7:10 p.m., Pauline Elaine McMilliam, age 45, of the 8500 block of Snouffers School Rd. in Gaithersburg was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault. The arrest was a result of a domestic dispute at the couple’s home. 

            -On 04-24-06, at 5:40 p.m., Joseph Crawford McNeil, age 23, of the 8700 block of Carroll Ave. in Silver Spring was arrested and charged with indecent exposure. The arrest was a result of an incident in the 8700 block of Carroll Ave. when the defendant became angry at a female and he dropped his pants. 

            -On 04-21-06, at 2:38 a.m., John Vanathayan, age 35, of the 1000 block of Katharyn Rd. in Silver Spring was arrested and charged with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct. The arrest was a result of an incident in the 700 block of Roeder Rd. in Silver Spring where the defendant exposed himself to a woman.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 04-21-06, at 9:15 p.m., 4 Silver Spring youths, all aged 14, were arrested and charged with 4th degree burglary. The arrests were a result of a burglary at a vacant apartment in the 13900 block of Castle Blvd. in Silver Spring.

COMMERCIAL 

            -MIDIYA JEWELERS, 7902 Old Georgetown Rd. in Bethesda, between 5:00 p.m. on 04-22-06 and 12:53 p.m. on 04-23-06. Front door glass shattered, jewelry taken.

            -MERIDIAN CAPITAL GROUP, 7475 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda, between 8:00 p.m. on 04-12-06 and 7:30 a.m. on 04-17-06. Pried door lock, computer and camera taken.

            -CHICKEN ON THE RUN RESTAURANT, 4933 St. Elmo Ave. in Bethesda, between 9:00 p.m. on 04-17-06 and 7:30 a.m. on 04-18-06. Front door window broken, cash taken. 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -7500 block of Spring Lake Dr. in Bethesda, between 2:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on 04-23-06. Forced entry, nothing taken.

            -9800 block of Carter Rd. in Bethesda, between 8:00 a.m. on 03-19-06 and 1:30 p.m. on 04-21-06. Forced entry, nothing taken.

            -4700 block of Cumberland Ave. in Bethesda, between 12:40 a.m. and 12:47 a.m. on 04-25-06. Forced entry, nothing taken.

            -4400 block of Woodfield Rd. in Kensington, between noon on 04-16-06 and 11:00 a.m. on 04-23-06. Forced entry, property taken.

 

3rd DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -9900 block of Indian Lane in Silver Spring, between 6:00 p.m. on 04-21-06 and 10:00 a.m. on 04-23-06. Forced entry, no property taken.

            -300 block of Williamsburg Drive in Silver Spring, between 7:30 a.m. on 04-22-06 and 8:15 a.m. on 04-23-06. Forced entry, property taken.

            -1600 block of Treetop View Terrace in Silver Spring, between 8:00 p.m. on 04-17-06 and 5:30 p.m. on 04-22-06. Forced entry, property taken.

            -11400 block of Stewart Lane in Silver Spring, at 5:30 p.m. on 04-22-06. Forced entry, property taken.

 

5th DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -18900 block of Beallsville Road in Beallsville, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:55 p.m. on 04-21-06. Forced entry, no property taken.

            -17800 block of Falconcrest Circle in Germantown, between 6:00 p.m. on 04-19-06 and 7:30 a.m. on 04-20-06. Forced entry, property taken.

            -20400 block of Century Boulevard in Germantown, between 9:00 p.m. on 04-20-06 and 7:00 a.m. on 04-21-06. Forced entry, property taken.

            -25500 block of Long Corner Road in Laytonsville, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:50 p.m. on 04-21-06. Forced entry, no property taken.

COMMERCIAL
