RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

May 3, 2006

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 04-19-06, at 5:00 a.m., a 49 year-old Silver Spring man was walking to a bus stop on Grand Pre Rd. in Silver Spring when several suspects approached him. They started to strike the victim with pistols and he fell to the ground. One of the suspects went through the victim’s pockets taking a wallet and cash. The suspects then fled on foot south on Grand Pre Rd. towards Connecticut Avenue.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 5’5”-5’6”, 150-180 lbs., black jacket and hat, blue jeans.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 20-25, 5’05”-5’06”, 150-180 lbs., black jacket, black baseball hat, bule jeans.
            -Suspect #3 – B/M, 20-25, 5’05”-5’06”, 150-180 lbs., black jacket, black baseball hat, bule jeans. 

            -On 04-22-06, at 9:45 p.m., the Giant Grocery Store, located at 1361 Lamberton Dr. in Silver Spring was robbed. A lone suspect entered the store and went to the service desk, displayed a gun and announced a robbery. The victim handed over money from the safe. The suspect then walked out of the store and went around to the back of the building.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 30, 5’9”, 175 lbs., black suit, red tie, black coat, scarf, and backpack. 

            -On 04-24-06, at 10:27 p.m., a 24-year-old Montgomery Village man was sitting in his car at the intersection of Nathan’s Place and Docena Dr. in Montgomery Village when he was approached by an unknown black male. The suspect reached into the car, placed something metallic against his ribs, and demanded the victim exit his car. The victim slammed the door against the suspect and the suspect ran off.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 16-20, 5’5”, blue jeans, black shirt and hat.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 04-24-06, at 1:50 a.m., a 21-year-old Silver Spring man was walking down Parker Ave. at Broadview Rd. toward Newport Mill Rd. in Silver Spring when 3 suspects approached. They demanded money. The victim tried to run but was tripped and fell to the ground. The suspects took earrings, necklace, and cash from his wallet.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 18-23, 5’8”-6’0”, 150-190 lbs., blue pants, black shirt, hat, and jacket.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 18-23, 5’8”-6’0”, 150-190 lbs., black pants, black t-shirt, hat, and jacket.
            -Suspect #3 – B/M, 18-23, blue pants, black t-shirt, hat, and jacket.

            -On 04-24-06, at 10:50 p.m., a 35-year-old Wheaton man was in the 2500 block of Ennalls Ave. in Wheaton when he was approached by 4 suspects. One of the suspects demanded his money. The victim tried to flee but was stopped by the suspects and assaulted and fell to the ground. One of the suspects removed a wallet and cash from the victim. All suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 25-30, 5’10”, 160 lbs., black shirt, black slacks.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 25-30.
            -Suspects #3 and #4 – Hispanic/M, 25-30. 

            -On 04-23-06, at 1:30 p.m., two women, ages 19 and 20, from Bethesda and Chevy Chase were in the parking lot at Westfield-Wheaton Mall, 11160 Veirs Mill Rd in Wheaton, when they were approached by 5-6 Hispanic males, all in their mid-20s. They grabbed both of the victim’s purses and after a brief struggle, yanked them away. The suspects then fled on foot toward Veirs Mill Road. 

            -On 04-25-06, at 7:00 p.m., a 21-year-old Gaithersburg man reported that he had been attack at a store in the unit block of Maryland Place in Gaithersburg by a suspect who he had an argument with earlier in the day at a local gas station. He was transported to a local hospital and treated for injuries.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 5’10”-5’11”, 200-210 lbs., bald, blue jeans.

 

BURGLARY ARREST

            -On 04-13-06, at 11:05 p.m., Rosana Mohammed, age 23, no fixed address, was arrested and charged with burglary, trespassing, and escape. Also arrested and charged accordingly was Lyle A. Lowe, age 21. The arrest was a result of an incident at a residence in the 13300 block of Dauphine St. in Silver Spring that had just occurred.

 

UNDERAGE DRINKING PARTY

            -On 04-29-06 at 1:29 a.m., members of the Alcohol Initiatives Section responded to the Marriott Suites hotel in Gaithersburg for the report of an underage drinking party.  The party, held after a high school prom, resulted in six adults receiving alcohol citations, six juveniles receiving alcohol citations and one citation being issued for furnishing alcohol to underage drinkers. 

            -On 04-30-06 at 12:16 a.m., members of the Alcohol Initiatives Section responded to the Summerfield Suites hotel in Gaithersburg for the report of an underage drinking party.  The investigation led to issuing three adult alcohol citations, five juvenile alcohol citations, and one citation being issued for furnishing alcohol to underage drinkers.

            -400 block of Deerfield Rd. in Silver Spring, between noon and 2:30 p.m. on 04-25-06. No forced entry, property taken.

            -14600 block of Monmouth Drive in Burtonsville, between 5:50 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on 04-25-06. Forced entry, property taken.

            -200 block of University Boulevard in Silver Spring, between 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on 04-24-06. Forced entry, property taken.

 

4th DISTRICT

            -17300 block of Pond Road in Ashton, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:01 a.m. on 04-26-06. Forced entry, property taken.

            -1300 block of Swingingdale Drive in Silver Spring, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on 04-24-06. Forced entry, property taken.

            -17900 block of Dumfries Circle in Olney, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:53 p.m. on 04-25-06. Forced entry, property taken.

            -13200 block of Bluhill Road in Silver Spring, between 9:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. on 04-24-06. Forced entry, property taken.
