RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

May 8, 2006 

ARMED ROBBERY 

             -On 04-29-06, at 12:15 a.m., a 23 year-old Silver Spring woman exited a bus at Connecticut Ave. and Veirs Mill Road. At the intersection of Connecticut Ave. and Delano St., a suspect grabbed her around the neck and placed a sharp object to her rib cage. The victim handed over her purse. The suspect fled on foot toward Veirs Mill Road.
            -Suspect #1 - W/M, 40-50, 5’7”-6’0”, 180-190 lbs., thin, black baseball cap, white shirt, light blue baggy jeans. 

            -On 05-03-06, at midnight, a 21 year-old Silver Spring man was walking on Thayer Ave. in Silver Spring when he encountered three male suspects. The victim tried to force his way past the three suspects, but was stabbed in the abdomen by Suspect #1. The victim tried to punch the suspects, but missed. Still, it was enough to send the suspects fleeing. No property was taken. The victim was transported to the local hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 15-18, 5’4”-5’6”, 140-160 lbs., braids, blue jeans, black jacket.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 16-20, 6’2”-6’4”, 180-200 lbs., dredlocks, black clothing.
            -Suspect #3 – B/M, 16-19, 5’8”-5’10”, 160-170 lbs., corn rows, black clothing.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 05-04-06, at 6:40 a.m., a Gaithersburg man of an unknown age was walking near the 700 block of Clopper Rd. when Suspect #1 approached him from behind and put a “head lock” on him. Suspect #2 approached and demanded the victim’s wallet. They grabbed the wallet, pushed the victim to the ground, and fled on foot towards Quince Orchard Boulevard.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 5’9”-5’10”, 160-170 lbs., white t-shirt.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 20-25, 5’9”-5’10”, 200-210 lbs., muscular.

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 05-02-06, at 3:20 p.m., two males from Silver Spring, ages 14 and 15, were walking north on Lockwood Dr. in Silver Spring when they were approached by 15-20 black male juveniles. One of the suspects demanded one of the victim’s shoes and money. He complied. The suspects then fled on foot north on Lockwood Drive. 

            -On 05-03-06, at 12:15 a.m., a 28-year-old Silver Spring man was walking down Garland Ave. toward Piney Branch Rd. in Silver Spring, when he was approached by three suspects. One of the suspects pushed the victim to the ground and took his cell phone. The suspects then ran down Garland Ave. and into a courtyard.
            -Suspect #1, #2, and #3 – B/M, 5’7”, 150 lbs., blue jeans, black shirt, white bandana.

ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 05-02-06, at 10:23 p.m., a 26 year-old Gaithersburg man and a 34 year-old Gaithersburg woman were waiting at the bus stop on the corner of Muncaster Mill and Woodfield Road when a black male suspect approached in a dark colored vehicle. He implied a handgun in his waist. The male victim went across the street to call police. The suspect fled on Woodfield Road.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, green sweatshirt, green pants, black hat.

RAPE 

            -On 04-26-06, at 10:00 a.m., a 20 year-old Gaithersburg woman reported that she had been raped by a male who she had invited into her apartment to help her pack. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

COMMERCIAL ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 04-30-06, at 9:15 p.m., a delivery person for Kenny’s Sub Shop in Wheaton was attempting to make a delivery to the 10800 block of Bucknell Dr. in Silver Spring, when he was approached by two suspects. They pointed a gun at him and demanded money. One suspect patted the victim down and took cash. Both suspects then fled the scene on foot.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, thin, light blue baseball cap, blue pants, blue jacket with a red waist band, armed with a handgun.
            -Suspect #2 – W/M, black hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans, black bandana, armed with a handgun. 

            -On 05-03-06, at 10:30 p.m., a delivery person for Pizza Hut in Gaithersburg was making a delivery to the 100 block of Duvall Rd. in Gaithersburg, when he was approached by a suspect who demanded money. The victim turned over some cash. The suspect then fled on foot behind the 100 block of Duvall Lane.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’7”-5’9”, 150-165 lbs., black shirt, blue jeans, red hat. 

            -On 05-03-06, at 10:35 p.m., a delivery person for Dominos Pizza on Frederick Ave. in Gaithersburg was attempting to make a delivery to the 18400 block of Lostknife Ave. in Gaithersburg when a female suspect asked for a ride. Then, two male suspects appeared and pointed a knife at the victim and demanded money. They took cash and a cell phone and wanted the car keys, but the victim refused. The suspects fled.
            -Suspect #1 - B/F, no further details.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 6’3”-6’5”, 200-210 lbs., black jeans and coat, chrome T-shirt, white bandana.
            -Suspect #3 – B/F.
            -Suspect #4 – same as Suspect #2.
