RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

May 12, 2005

 

RAPE 

-On 05-07-05, at 11:00 p.m., a 16-year-old Montgomery Village female reported that a known adult male picked her up at her job in Germantown.  The individual drove her to Stedwick Elementary School where he raped her.  He then drove her home.  The suspect is known and the investigation is continuing. 

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

      -On 05-07-05, at 9:30 p.m., a 49-year-old Gaithersburg man was leaving the Festival Shopping Center on Muddy Branch Rd. when he was approached from behind by two suspects. Suspect #1 knocked the victim to the ground and tried to take his necklace. Suspect #2 placed a silver handgun to the victim’s head. The victim stopped struggling and gave up his necklace and wedding ring. The suspects fled by foot towards Muddy Branch Road.
            -Suspects #1 and #2 – B/M’s, 28, 6’2”, 160 lbs., both wearing dark sweaters, jeans, and black knit face masks. 

            -On 05-04-05, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a LA-UNION Market truck was being operated by a male in the 400 block of N. Summit Rd. in Gaithersburg. He was selling products from his truck when suspects approached, displayed a black handgun, and robbed him of cash.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, red T-shirt, black T-shirt, black jeans, black mask.
            -Suspect #2 and #3 – B/M’s

 

ARMED ROBBERY / ARREST 

            -On 04-26-05, Nicholas Shane Brown, age 25, of the 400 block of Christopher Ave. in Gaithersburg, was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, First-degree Assault, Use of a Handgun in Commission of a Felony Crime of Violence, Theft under $500, CDS Possession, and Possession of Paraphernalia. The arrest was a result of an incident on 04-05-05 where the defendant robbed a victim at gunpoint in the unit block of Montgomery Village Avenue. 

            -On 05-06-05, at approximately 12:13 a.m., Christopher William Maphis, age 23, of the 13100 block of Vandalia Dr. in Silver Spring, was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery, First-degree A-ssault, Second-degree Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and Reckless Endangerment. The arrest was a result of an incident that had just occurred in the 2000 block of Harlequin Terrace in Silver Spring where the defendant raised a weapon and threatened the victim. 

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 05-07-05, at 1:30 p.m., a 25 year-old Gaithersburg man was in the hallway of an apartment building in the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle when he was approached from behind by two black males. The victim was hit on the head with a gun held by one of the suspects. They demanded money, but the victim fought them off and no property was taken.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20 to 25, 5’7” to 5’8”, 150 to 170 lbs., black long sleeve shirt, black sweatpants.
            -Suspect #2 – same description, except wore a black mask. 

            -On 05-06-05, at 11:39 p.m., a 21-year-old Gaithersburg man reported that while he was walking home along Apple Ridge Rd. between Shadow Oak Dr. and Montgomery Village Ave., he had been robbed by four teenagers who shot him nine times with BB guns (pistols), stole his backpack and tried to steal his shoes. The suspects knocked him to the ground and also kicked him. The suspects were all described by the victim as teenaged black males. 

            -On 05-06-05, at 11:00 a.m., a 37-year-old Gaithersburg woman reported that she was staying at a friend’s place in the 400 block of Christopher Ave. when a suspect entered the residence and displayed a handgun. He held her hostage for 12 hours and did not harm her. He then let her go.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 30-35, 5’5”-5’6”, 175 lbs., moustache, beard, black jacket, blue jeans. 

            -On 05-07-05, at 9:30 p.m., an 18-year-old Gaithersburg man was leaving the Festival Shopping Center and headed towards West Side Dr. when he observed three male suspects. They came towards him with baseball bats. They struck him repeatedly and caused numerous injuries, but took nothing. All three male suspects wore black clothing and had their faces covered. 

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT / ARREST 

            -On 05-06-05, at 11:34 p.m., Lincoln G. Gill, age 34, of the 300 block of Eisner St. in Silver Spring, was arrested and charged with First-degree Assault, 2 counts of Second-degree Assault, Failure to Obey a Lawful Order, and Obstructing and Hindering. The arrest was a result of a domestic fight involving a handgun earlier that evening. 

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 05-06-05, at 7:20 p.m., a 13-year-old Silver Spring male was riding his bike with a friend in the area of Ruatan St. and Quebec Terrace when a suspect approached. The suspect knocked the victim off his bike and then kicked him in the legs. The suspect took the bicycle and fled it the direction of Carroll Avenue.

            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 14, 5’2” to 5’8”, spiked dark brown hair, black sweater, blue jeans.

3rd DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -1700 block of Hampshire Green Lane in the Hillandale area of Silver Spring, between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. on 05-05-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -11200 block of Columbia Pike in the White Oak area of Silver Spring, between 11:30 a.m. on 05-07-05 and 11:30 a.m. on 05-08-05.  Possibly used key, property taken.

            -12900 block of Falmouth Drive in the Colesville area of Silver Spring, between 8:00 a.m. 05-06-05 and 12:05 p.m. on 05-07-05.   Forcible attempt.

            -12700 block of Laurie Drive in the East Springbrook area of Silver Spring, between 2:30 p.m. and 5:35 p.m. on 05-04-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

 

5th DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -18500 block of Split Rock Lane in Germantown, between 8:00 a.m. on 05-06-05 and 5:00 p.m. on 05-08-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

 

6th DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL 

            -GAITHERSBURG HIGH SCHOOL, 314 S. Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg, on 05-07-05 at 5:24 a.m.  Forced entry, nothing taken. 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -9900 block of Shelburne Terrace in Gaithersburg, between 4:00 p.m. on 04-17-05 and 4:00 p.m. on 05-02-05.  Possibly used key, property taken.

            -Unit block of N. Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg, between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on 05-08-05.  Possibly used key, property taken.

            -18300 block of Lost Knife Circle, between 3:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. on 04-26-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -100 block of Watkins Mill Road in Gaithersburg, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:41 p.m. on 05-09-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -100 block of Watkins Mill Road in Gaithersburg, between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on 05-09-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -8800 block of Cochrane Court in Gaithersburg, between 10:45 a.m. and 11:14 a.m. on 05-09-05.  Attempt only.
