RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

May 13, 2005

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 05-05-05, at 10:59 p.m., a 62-year-old Rockville woman was in the area of the 500 block of Woodston Rd. in Rockville, when she was approached by a suspect. The suspect pushed the victim to the ground and demanded her purse. The suspect threatened her with a knife. The suspect grabbed the purse and fled on foot down Woodston Rd. toward Burgandy Drive.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, 25, 5’8”, 160 lbs., red hat, red shirt, black jeans.

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 05-09-05, at 8:30 p.m., a 19-year-old Silver Spring woman was on the handicap ramp next to Rite Aid in the 12200 block of Veirs Mill Rd. when a suspect approached and pushed her and tried to yank her purse off of her shoulder. The victim held on to her purse but the suspect obtained cash from the side of her purse. The suspect ran off toward the Rodman’s store.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, 35 to 40, 5’6” to 5’7”, 140 lbs., gray T-shirt, blue jeans, blue baseball hat.

            -On 05-11-05, at 1:40 a.m., the 7-Eleven store, located at 5114 River Rd. in Bethesda, was robbed. Two suspects entered the store and forced the employees to the rear of the store. They took coins from a jar and packs of cigarettes. The suspects then exited the store and entered a parked green SUV.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 30, 5’7” to 5’8”, black skullcap, white shirt, black slacks.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 30-39, 5’9” to 5’10”, glasses, thin, black sweatshirt with hood.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 05-06-05, at 10:09 p.m., John Paul Charbonneau, age 26, of the 300 block of Mannakee St. in Rockville, was arrested and charged with First-degree Assault. The arrest was a result of an earlier incident that evening where the defendant rode his motor bike in a reckless manner, threatening the safety of the children in the area of Mannakee St. When he was confronted by a neighbor, the defendant displayed a screwdriver or a spike in a threatening manner. 

INDECENT EXPOSURE 

            -On 04-29-05, at 10:30 p.m., a 20-year-old Germantown male and an 18-year-old Gaithersburg male were caught on camera inside Lakeforest Mall engaging in an unlawful sex act. The suspects’ identities are known and the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 05-10-05, at 5:20 p.m., a 29-year-old Silver Spring woman reported that a man exposed himself from a window of a home in the 8700 block of Carroll Ave. in Silver Spring. The suspect identity is not known and the investigation is continuing.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, light blue pants.

SEX ASSAULT 

            -On 05-08-05, at 1:00 a.m., a 21-year-old Germantown woman reported that she was out with friends and then returned to a home in the 4900 block of Asbury Lane in Bethesda. Later that morning, one of the males in the party entered her bedroom and sexually assaulted her. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 05-10-05,  Kent Powell, 47, no fixed address, was arrested and charged with Second-degree Burglary, Fourth-degree Burglary, Trespassing, and Theft over $500.00.  The arrest was the result of a burglary that just occurred at the Silver Spring International School at 313 Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring. 

            -On 05-05-05, Jayson Drew Mosley, 19, of the 18100 block of Chalet Drive in Germantown, was arrested and charged with Fourth-degree Burglary and Theft under $500.00.  The arrest was the result of a burglary that had just occurred in the 11000 block of Grassy Knoll Terrace in Germantown. 

            -On 05-06-05, Junior Ridore, 27, 2400 block of Lyttonsville Road in Silver Spring, was arrested and charged with First-degree Burglary and Malicious Destruction of Property under $500.00.  The arrest was the result of a burglary that had just occurred in the 10400 block of Barrie Avenue in Wheaton.
