RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

May 18, 2006

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 05-07-06, at 4:20 a.m., a 27-year-old Silver Spring man and a 21-year-old Rockville man were walking in the 8500 block of 16th St. in Silver Spring when they were approached by 2 suspects. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded the victims’ wallets and cell phones. One of the victims gave up his cash and cell phone. The suspects fled on foot north on 16th Street.
            -Suspect #1 – W/M, 14-16, 5’6”-5’8”, 130-150 lbs., thin, blue hat, black sweatshirt.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 14-16, 5’8”-5’10”, 140-160 lbs., thin, white sweatshirt, black hat, gray pants. 

            -On 05-05-06, at 1:05 a.m., a 21-year-old Silver Spring man pulled into a parking lot in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring when he noticed a blue Honda Civic in the lot. Three suspects approached the victim and one of the suspects produced a gun. They took his wallet with cash and a cell phone. The suspects then fled in the Honda on Lockwood Dr. towards Rt. 29.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 25, 5’11”, 165 lbs., stubble facial hair, thin.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 25, 5’11”, 150 lbs., black shirt, blue jeans.
            -Suspect #3 – B/M, 30, 6’0”, 250 lbs., heavy, black sweater, black hat. 

            -On 05-06-06, at 1:25 a.m., a 42-year-old cab driver picked up two Hispanic males in the 11500 block of Rockville Pike and dropped one of them off on Ross Rd. in Silver Spring. The other passenger was dropped off at Spencer Rd. in Silver Spring. He produced a handgun and did not pay the fare. He did not demand any property. The suspect fled on-foot.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, 24-25, 5’9”-5’10”, blue jeans, green shirt.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 04-27-06, at 11:00 p.m., a 20-year-old Gaithersburg man stated that he got off a bus at Lost Knife Place where two suspects approached him and took his cell phone.  Suspect #1 punched the victim and then displayed a silver revolver. They took cash from the victim.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 6’1”-6’3”, 190-200 lbs., black shirt, blue jeans, black sneakers.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 20-25, 5’8”-5’10”, 175-185 lbs., blue jeans, white shirt and sneakers.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 05-06-06, at 10:54 p.m., an 18-year-old Silver Spring man and another man were standing in the 8200 block of Greenwood Ave. in Silver Spring when they were approached by 2 suspects. Suspect #1 grabbed one of the victims and was armed with a knife. Suspect #2 pushed

the same victim to the ground. They took wallets, cash, and both victims’ vehicles. Suspect #1 carjacked a victim’s Honda Civic. Suspect #2 took the other victim’s Chevy Cavalier.
            -Suspect #1 – Short, fat, Hispanic male.
            -Suspect #2 – Thin taller, Hispanic male. 

            -On 04-29-06, at 10:02 p.m., two Hyattsville males, 21 & 18, were robbed by three unknown suspects in the 1600 block of St. Camillus Drive in Silver Spring. The victims lost cash and a cell phone. One of the suspects had a knife. One of the victims had cuts and abrasions.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, heavy.
            -Suspect #2 – Hispanic/M, 16-18, ponytail.
            -Suspect #3 – Hispanic/M, 16-18, long hair. 

            -On 05-04-06, at 3:15 p.m., a 29-year-old Silver Spring man was in the area of the 11600 block of Stewart Lane in Silver Spring when he was approached by two suspects. Suspect #1 approached him with a knife and a fight ensued. The victim was cut on his hand. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. No property was obtained. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20, corn rows hair, white T-shirt, white shoes, black jeans.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 20’s, wearing blue jeans and blue t-shirt.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARRESTS 

            -On 04-30-06, at 1:01 a.m., a 33-year-old H/M of Greenlock Rd. in Silver Spring was arrested and charged with 2 counts of 1st degree assault, 2 counts of 2nd degree assault, 2 counts of reckless endangerment, and 1 count of false imprisonment. The arrest was a result of a domestic dispute at the home in Silver Spring that had just occurred. 

            -On 05-07-06, at 3:30 p.m., a 14-year-old female juvenile from Hyattsville was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, possession of a deadly weapon, and criminal trespassing. The arrest was a result of an assault on another teen near a playground in the 1400 block of Hampshire West in Silver Spring that had just occurred. 

            -On 05-02-06, at 7:45 a.m., Lorenzo Ellis Funderburg, age 36, of the 20400 block of Waters Point Lane in Germantown was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault and destruction of property. The arrest was a result of an incident at the above location that had just occurred. 

            -On 04-29-06, at 10:30 p.m., Darrell Shamoan Bibb, age 47, of the 100 block of Lazy Hollow Dr. in Gaithersburg was arrested and charged with 1st degree burglary and malicious destruction of property. The arrest was a result of a burglary in the 400 block of Muddy Branch Rd. in Gaithersburg.
