RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

 

May 19, 2006 

 

ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 05-06-06, at 1:10 a.m., the 7-11 store, located at 18120 Georgia Ave. in Olney, was robbed.  Two suspects entered the store, and Suspect 1 displayed a handgun and demanded money from the register. The victim kept saying he did not know what the suspect was talking about. Both suspects then left the store with taking any property.

  • Suspect 1 – B/M, 24-25, 6’3”-6’4”, thin, white T-shirt, blue jeans, blue bandana worn on face.
  • Suspect 2 – B/M, 24-25, 6’4”, gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans.

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 05-11-06, between 12:15 and 12:20 a.m., a 54 year-old man from Saint Mary’s, PA, was walking to his daughter’s residence in the 8000 block of Eastern Drive in Silver Spring, when he was approached by a suspect, who drove up in an older model, turquoise Suzuki.  The suspect exited the car, produced a handgun, and demanded the victim’s wallet. After obtaining property from the victim, the suspect hit the victim in the face with his weapon. The suspect then headed toward Washington, D.C. in the suspect car.  The victim refused medical treatment.

  • Suspect – B/M, 22-27, 6’0”, 185-190 lbs., short hair, black jacket.

            -On 05-11-06, between 7:50 and 7:55 p.m., a delivery person for Papa Johns in Silver Spring was attempting to make a delivery to the 8800 block of Piney Branch Rd. in Silver Spring, when he was approached by three male suspects. Suspect 1 held a gun to the victim’s head and demanded money. The victim complied. All 3 suspects fled on foot.

  • Suspect 1 – B/M, 20-23, 5’9”, 200 lbs., mustache, black jacket with fur on the hood.
  • Suspect 2 – B/M, 20-23, 5’7”, 170 lbs., black jacket, red bandana.
  • Suspect 3 – B/M, 20-23, no further description.

 

SEX OFFENSE/ARREST 

            -On 04-13-06, Billy Roberto Cordero Alarcon, age 21, of Gaithersburg, was arrested and charged with two counts of 2nd degree rape. The arrest was a result of a rape of a 12-year-old Gaithersburg girl in October of 2005.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

-On 05-04-06, at 10:45 p.m., Abraham Allen Elarar, age 39, of the 5400 block of Marinelli Rd. in N. Bethesda, was arrested.  Elarar was said to have forced entry into an occupied apartment in the 5400 block of Marinelli Rd., uninvited, and tried to steal items.  He dropped the items upon being approached by the homeowner, fled out of the apartment, and attempted to force entry into another apartment without success.  He was later captured by police at his own apartment, and was charged with 1st degree burglary, attempt burglary, attempt theft, and disorderly conduct. 

-On 04-29-06, at 1:20 a.m., Oscar Ramirez, age 23, of the 5400 block of 54th Avenue in Riverdale, MD, was arrested and charged with 4th degree burglary for entering the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department firehouse at 10620 Connecticut Avenue in Kensington, without permission, and without having business at the firehouse. 

-On 04-27-06, at 7:30 a.m., two females from Silver Spring, ages 14 and 15, were arrested and charged with 1st degree burglary and malicious destruction of property, for several burglaries that have occurred in the Wheaton area, after being caught attempting to break into a home in the 2300 block of Glenmont Circle in Wheaton. 

-On 04-30-06, between 7:13 and 7:20 p.m.,Arrested was James Mena, age 19, of the 1600 block of East 174th Street in the Bronx, NY, who was charged with 4th degree burglary.  Mena was arrested for being inside of Einstein High School at 11135 New Port Mill Rd., after school hours and without permission. 

-On 04-30-06, between 11:00 and 11:30 p.m., the owner of Le Jewelry and Gifts at 2905 Ennalls Ave. in Wheaton, responded to an alarm at his business.  He witnessed the break-in and theft of items from the business by a male suspect.  The suspect fled, but was caught by responding officers.  Arrested was Allan Kevin Acosta, age 29, of the 12000 block of Livingston St. in Wheaton.  He was charged with 2nd degree burglary, theft under $500, and malicious destruction of property. 

            -On 05-02-06, between 1:00 and 1:15 a.m., police responded to a burglary alarm at the New Fortune Restaurant at 16515 S. Frederick Ave. in Gaithersburg.  They found evidence of forced entry, and found inside was Jose Antonio Martinez, age 21, of no fixed address.  He was arrested and charged with 2nd degree burglary, theft under $500, and malicious destruction of property.   

-On 05-05-06, at 12:30 a.m., a 14 year-old male juvenile from Germantown was arrested and charged with 2nd degree burglary, for breaking into McNair Elementary School at 13881 Hopkins Road in Germantown.  The youth was arrested when officers found forced entry into the school, and the juvenile inside the school. 

            -On 05-01-06, between 12:01 and 8:24 a.m., police responded to a call for a burglary in progress at a vacant restaurant located at 20260 Goldenrod Lane in Germantown.  There they found evidence of forced entry, and Thomas Travis Taylor, age 42, no fixed address, inside sleeping.  He was arrested and charged with 4th degree burglary, malicious destruction of property, and trespassing. 

            -On 05-05-06, between 9:00 and 10:45 a.m., police responded to a report of several individuals sleeping in a vacant apartment in the 400 block of N. Summit Ave. Zakkee Irith Hill age 18, of Landover, Md. was arrested and charged with 4th degree burglary and trespassing. Also arrested were 15 year-old and 16-year-old male juveniles from Gaithersburg. They were charged with 4th degree burglary.
