RECENT CRIME SUMMARY
May 30, 2006
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
-On 05-11-06 at 8:45 p.m., a 20-year-old
female from Gaithersburg made a police report at the Gaithersburg
police station, accusing a 20-year-old male acquaintance from
Woodbridge, Virginia of threatening and annoying phone calls, and of
displaying a handgun while threatening to sexually assault her on
05-09-06, while she was on the Rockville campus of Montgomery
College. The victim was not injured.
-On 05-20-06 at 9:16 p.m., it was reported
that a 29-year-old man from Silver Spring was involved in an
argument with several male suspects, in the 12100 block of Dewey
Road in Silver Spring, as a result of a traffic altercation. The
suspects followed the victim home, and when the victim got of his
car, he was chased and beaten by the suspects, before they fled in
an unknown white-colored vehicle. His injuries were
non-life-threatening, and he was treated at a local hospital.
-Suspect 1 H/M, 27-28, 54-55, 150 pounds, wearing a white t-shirt
with a design, and blue jean shorts.
-Suspect 2 H/M, 27-28, 170 pounds, heavy build, wearing a gray tank top
and shorts.
-Other Suspects Unknown description.
-On 05-16-06, at
9:38 p.m., a group of friends, all male, advised that they were
standing outside of the Dunkin Donuts at 12200 Veirs Mill Road,
when they were approached by three unknown males. The suspects
argued with the victims, before one of the suspects displayed a
handgun and shot at the group of friends. One of the victims, a
22-year-old Silver Spring man, was struck in the lower back and left
wrist. His injuries were non-life-threatening, and he was treated
at a local hospital.
-Suspect 1 H/M, 20-25, 57-58, 170 pounds, wearing a black hooded
sweatshirt and baggy blue jeans.
-Suspect 2 H/M, 20-25, 56-57, 140-150 pounds, with a mustache,
wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and baggy blue jeans.
-Suspect 3 H/M, 18-20, 52-54, 140-150 pounds, with a mustache,
wearing a green t-shirt and baggy blue jeans.
-On 05-14-06, at
5:55 p.m., a 53-year-old man from Germantown was arguing with his
roommate, a 53-year-old woman, about the rent. During the argument,
the woman physically attacked the man with a knife, who defended
himself by swinging at the suspect with a floor fan. No one was
injured.
-On 05-17-06 at
11:46 a.m., 38-year-old man from Gaithersburg was alerted to an
underage drinking party that was to occur at his home while he was
away, hosted by his 16-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son. The
man responded to his home, found teenaged strangers in his home, and
asked several unknown persons to leave. While out in the area of
Whitman Rd. and Chadburn Pl. in Gaithersburg, looking for his
daughter, who had fled the home upon the arrival of her father, he
was approached by two of the partygoers and physically beaten. He
was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious, but
non-life-threatening injuries.
-Suspect 1 B/M, 17-18, 510-511, 190-210 pounds, dark skin tone,
wearing a dark blue shirt, dark blue pants, and a black baseball
cap.
-Suspect 2 B/M, 17-18, 511, 130-150 pounds, heavy build, wearing a
white tank top and slightly baggy blue pants.

SEX ASSAULT
-On 05-10-06 at 1:45
p.m., a 27-year-old female from McLean, Virginia, had parked in the
area of Bethesda Ave. and Woodmont Ave. in Bethesda, when she was
approached by a man who asked for directions to Rt. 50 in Virginia.
He displayed a map to show her, and as he did so, came into physical
contact with her several times, touching her inappropriately several
times. He finally walked away from the scene.
-Suspect W/M, 28-32, 59, 180-190 pounds, wearing a blue dress shirt
and dark blue dress pants.
-On 05-16-06 at 1:30
p.m., a 18-year-old man from Gaithersburg reported that he had been
abducted in the area of E. Deer Park Rd. and Frederick Ave., beaten,
and sexually molested by unknown men driving a red pick-up truck.
No suspect description available.
ARMED ROBBERY ARREST
-On 05-20-06 at 6:53
p.m., officers responded to a larceny and armed robbery call for the
theft of an iPod, that occurred in the area of 2nd Ave.
and Colesville Rd. in Silver Spring. Police developed information
that the suspect had boarded a Ride-On bus and had left the scene.
When police stopped the bus, the suspect exited the bus and began to
run. He was apprehended. Antonio Taylor, age 19, of the 200 block
of Stevenson St. in Alexandria, Virginia, was charged with armed
robbery, theft under $500, and resisting arrest.
STRONG ARM ROBBERY ARRESTS
-On 05-10-06 at 10:14 p.m., a 29-year-old
Silver Spring woman was walking in the area of the 2300 block of
Greenery Ln. in Silver Spring, when she was approached from behind
by two male suspects. One grabbed her purse. The victim struggled
to hang on to it, but could not. The two suspects fled on foot.
Officers apprehended two juvenile males, and developed information
implicating them both in another similar attempt that day against
another 57-year-old Silver Spring woman, in which they chased her in
the same neighborhood, but did not obtain her purse. The two were
charged with robbery, attempt to commit robbery, theft under $500,
and conspiracy to commit robbery.
-On 05-18-06 at 12:24 p.m., police were
flagged down in the area of Club House Rd. and Watkins Mill Rd. by
a 47-year-old Gaithersburg man, who claimed his 17-year-old son was
robbed, and that he was holding two male subjects, a 15-year-old,
and an 18-year-old, for the robbery. The man and his son had
approached the two subjects after the son told his father he had
been robbed, and an argument ensued. The man displayed a handgun
and held the two until arrival of police. The man was charged with
first degree assault. The investigation into the actions of the two
subjects being held is pending.
BURGLARY ARRESTS
-On 05-12-06 at 3:06 p.m., officers
arrested 18-year-old Darnell Antoine Taylor of the 12600 block of
English Orchard Ct. in Silver Spring, and charged him with theft
over $500 and with CDS paraphernalia for the burglary of a home that
had just occurred in the 2800 block of Ashmont Terrace in Silver
Spring, where forced entry was made and property taken.
-On 05-20-06 at 6:07 a.m., officers
responded to the area of the 19500 block of Crystal Rock Drive in
Germantown, where 19-year-old Henry James Ochoa and 21-year-old
Ashley-Saitiage Jerome Oliver, both of Germantown, were charged with
the vandalism and burglary of an apartment in that area.
-On 05-13-06 at 6:40 a.m., officers
arrested 42-year-old Thomas Travis Taylor of no fixed address, for
the break-in of the St. Martin Church at 201 S. Frederick Ave. in
Gaithersburg. He was charged with second degree burglary, fourth
degree burglary, and malicious destruction of property under $500.
