RECENT CRIME SUMMARY
June 1, 2006
ARMED ROBBERY
-On 05-27-06 at
11:37 p.m., two female friends, one a 16-year-old and the other an
18-year-old, both from Bethesda, had been walking in the area of
5700 Nicholson Ln., when a suspect approached them from behind and
displayed a silver handgun. He demanded they drop their purses and
walk away. They complied. The suspect then fled in a white,
older-model SUV parked nearby, and drove southbound on Woodglen Dr.
toward Security Lane. The victims were not injured.
*Suspect –
unknown male wearing black pants, a black sweater, and a black knit
hat.
-On 05-27-06 at 7:59
p.m., a 29-year-old woman from Rockville reported that she was in
the parking lot of the 8500 block of 16th St., when a
black male approached her from behind and asked for her purse. When
the victim refused, the suspect displayed a handgun. He took the
victim’s purse, as well as the purse of the victim’s 58-year-old
mother, who was in the car, He also took other property. As the
suspect fled the scene, he met up with a second black male. Both
suspects fled on foot toward East-West Highway. No one was injured.
*Suspect 1 – B/M, 18-22, 6’0”, 150 pounds, thin build, wearing a white
t-shirt and blue jeans, and a white bandana on his head.
*Suspect 2 – B/M, 16-20, 5’7” to 5’8”, medium collar length hair, wearing
a black t-shirt.
-On 05-29-06 at
12:13 a.m., the victim, a 25-year-old woman from Gaithersburg, was
approached by a black male while she sat in her car in front of the
Cider Mill Apartments. A Hispanic male approached her car and
demanded money. He also displayed a large kitchen knife. The
victim gave the robber cash. He forced her into her car, but she
managed to escape and contact police. The victim was not injured.
*Suspect – H/M, 45-50, 6’2”, 190 pounds, wearing a yellow t-shirt with red
writing and blue denim shorts.
CARJACKING ATTEMPT
-On 05-28-06, at
12:22 a.m., police responded to the area of Grandin Ave. and Reading
Ave. in Wheaton for the report of an attempt carjacking. The
29-year-old female victim from Silver Spring advised that she was
driving in the area, when a Hispanic male approached the car and
demanded they get out of the car. The victims drove away instead,
and contacted police. The suspect fled the scene after stealing a
blue mini BMX bike from the yard of a neighboring home.
*Suspect – H/M, 17-18, 5’10”, 160-165 pounds.

STRONG ARM ROBBERY
-On 05-29-06, at
11:40 p.m., a 27-year-old Gaithersburg man was using the
drive-through ATM in the area of E. Gude Dr. and Southlawn Dr. in
Rockville. He was approached by five or six black males in their
late teens/early twenties, who demanded cash from him. The victim
drove away without providing the suspects with any money.
*One of the suspects is described as a black male wearing a black
short-sleeved shirt and black jeans.
-On 05-27-06 at
11:30 p.m., the victim, a 49-year-old man from Montgomery Village,
was walking home from the Montgomery Village Shopping Center in the
19000 block of Montgomery Village Drive, when three black males
approached him from behind and began to beat the victim, and search
his pockets. They fled with the victim’s cell phone and cash,
before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction. The victim was
treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The
only description of his attackers, is three black males.
-On 05-28-06 at 3:20
p.m., a 30-year-old man from Orlando, Florida and his wife, age 21,
were in the parking lot of Gold’s gym at 398 Muddy Branch Rd. in
Gaithersburg. They were selling jewelry as they sat in their car.
The victims attempted to sell the suspect jewelry, and also showed
him cash. The suspect then punched the victim in his face, grabbed
the wife’s arm, took the cash, and fled on foot towards West Side
Dr. The victims suffered only minor injuries.
*The suspect is described as a black male wearing a white t-shirt and blue
jeans.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
-On
05-23-06 at 5:45 p.m., a 24-year-old Silver Spring man was
attempting to change a flat tire in the area of Piney Branch Road
and Barron Street, when a Hispanic male approached him, and for
unknown reasons, displayed a knife. The suspect then cut the victim
on the hand, before entering a red Honda Civic with unknown tags,
and driving away. The victim drove himself to Washington Adventist
Hospital to seek treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
*Suspect – H/M, 22-26, 5’8”, 150 pounds, wearing a white shirt and blue
jeans.
