ARMED ROBBERY
-On
05-25-04, at 10:09 p.m., a 31-year-old Silver Spring man was in the
area of Elkin St. and Hickerson Dr. in Wheaton when four to five
Asian male suspects approached him. The suspects (Asian/M, 20s,
58) demanded money and fired a shot striking the victim in the
torso. The suspects then ran across the parking lot towards Amherst
Avenue. The victim was transported to local hospital. ***Previous
release was written on this incident.**
-On 05-21-04, at 2:50 a.m., a 24-year-old
Rockville man and a friend were in the parking lot of the 8200 block
of Whispering Oak Way in Gaithersburg when two suspects approached
them. Suspect #1 (B/M, 16-20, 55, skinny, white scarf over nose
and mouth, blue jeans) displayed a handgun and demanded money from
the Rockville man. The victim complied. Suspect #2 (B/M, 16-20,
white scarf) confronted the friend but did not obtain any property.
Both suspects ran towards Woodfield Road.
-On 05-25-04, at 10:55 p.m., a
41-year-old Montgomery Village man was walking on Watkins Mill Rd.
at Travis Lane, in Gaithersburg, when a car stopped in front of him,
two suspects got out, and walked towards him. Suspect #1 (B/M, late
teens, black sweatshirt with hood pulled up, black pants) pointed a
handgun at the victim and demanded money. The victim complied. A car
drove up, a silver Suzuki, and the suspects jumped in. Inside the
Suzuki there were four to five occupants and the driver was
described as heavyset. Suspect #2 had the same description as
Suspect #1.
-On 05-26-04, at 10:45 p.m., a 29
year-old Silver Spring man was walking in the 8700 block of First
Ave. in Silver Spring when a vehicle pulled up along side him. Two
black male suspects got the car. Suspect #1 (B/M, 20s, thin, white
T-shirt, dark jeans) produced a handgun and demanded money. Suspect
#2 (B/M, 20s, with a husky build) removed the victims shoulder bag,
containing cash. The suspects returned to the car and it was last
seen turning onto Fenwick Lane towards Georgia Avenue.
-On 05-22-04, at 3:00 a.m., a 22-year-old
Gaithersburg man was sitting in a vehicle at the intersection of E.
Diamond Ave. and N. Summit Ave. when Suspect #1 (Hispanic/M, 20-25,
57, 160 lbs., white and red stripe shirt) and several other
Hispanic males got out of a vehicle that was in front of them. The
suspect used a baseball bat to break out the windshield and the rear
window of the victims vehicle. The suspects then got back into
their car. The victim followed them to the area of Ridge Road where
another confrontation took place and a cell phone was taken from the
victim.
-On 05-24-04, at 12:08 a.m., a
42-year-old Gaithersburg woman was in the 8200 block of Streamside
Place in Gaithersburg when two suspects approached her. One suspect
struck her on the back of the head with a blunt object and she fell
to the ground. The suspects then grabbed her purse and were last
seen heading towards Honey Locust Circle. The victim was
transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening
injuries. The suspects were described as black males, 56-58,
with dark clothing.
STRONG ARM ROBBERY
-On 05-21-04, at 4:30 p.m., a 73-year-old
Silver Spring woman was walking on the footpath between University
Blvd. W. and the Kemp Mill Shopping Center, in Wheaton, when she
came upon a group of people on the path. They asked for money and
when she said she had none, they grabbed her purse. A struggle
ensued. When a citizen approached, the suspects let go and ran in
an unknown direction. The victim was only able to described one
suspect as a Hispanic male, 14-15 years, wearing a white shirt and
blue pants.
-On 05-19-04, at approximately 11:00
p.m., a 28-year-old Gaithersburg woman was at her car in the 19000
block of Quail Valley Blvd., in Gaithersburg, when she was pushed
from behind by a suspect. The suspect (Hispanic/M, 20s, 510,
mustache, white shirt, blue jeans) reached into her trunk and
grabbed her gym bag. The suspect then got into a car that was
described as silver or beige in color.
-On 05-30-04, at 4:30 p.m., a 23-year-old
Montgomery Village woman was at the bus stop at Russell Ave. and
Odenhal Ave., in Gaithersburg, when she was approached from behind
by the suspect. The suspect (B/M, 58-510, black hooded
sweatshirt, blue jeans) pushed her and took her purse. A witness saw
the suspect running from the bus stop towards Odenhal Avenue.
-On 05-30-04, Citgo-Daytona Auto Care,
located at 409 E. Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg was robbed. The
suspect posed as a customer and when the clerk opened the register,
the suspect grabbed the money. The suspect ran out of the store in
an unknown direction. The suspect was described as a black male,
25-30 years, 60 180 pounds, short black hair, wearing a white
shirt and blue jeans.
-On May 27, at 10:45 p.m., a 24-year-old
Wheaton woman was the victim of an attempted strong-armed robbery in
the 1100 block of University Blvd., in Wheaton. As the victim was
walking through a parking lot two suspects approached her. One
suspect grabbed her purse, and a struggle ensued. During the
struggle, the victim was punched in the face. The victim maintained
control of her purse and the suspect ran in an unknown direction.
The first suspect was a male, 17-18 years, 54, thin build, wearing
a ski mask. The second suspect was a male, 17-18 years, 50, thin
build, also wearing a ski mask.
STRONG
ARM ROBBERY ARREST
-On 05-22-04, William Ndongo, age 33, of
the 8500 Freyman Drive in Chevy Chase, was arrested and charged with
Robbery, Second-degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment.
The arrest was the result of an incident in the 8300
block of Colesville Road in Silver Spring.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
ARREST
-On 05-23-04, Dannel Evans, age 26, of
the 800 block of Quince Orchard Blvd., in Gaithersburg was arrested
and charged with First-degree Assault. The arrest was the result of
an incident on Quince Orchard Blvd in Gaithersburg on the same day.
-On 05-27-04, a 14-year-old Gaithersburg
juvenile was arrested and charged with two counts of First-degree
Assault, and one count of Attempted Second-degree Murder. The
arrest was the result of an incident on Gentle Circle in
Gaithersburg on 05-26-04.
-On 05-20-04, a 13-year-old Gaithersburg
juvenile was arrested and charged with First-degree Assault,
Second-degree Assault, and Carrying a Deadly Weapon on School
Property. The arrest was the result of an incident at Shady Grove
Middle School, 8200 Midcounty Highway, in Gaithersburg on the same
day.
BURGLARY ARREST
-On 05-27-04, a 16-year-old Silver Spring
juvenile was arrested and charged with Second-degree Burglary, Theft
Under $500, Destruction of Property, and Fleeing and Eluding. The
arrest was the result of an incident at Dr. Charles R. Drew
Elementary School, 1200 Swingingdale Dr., in Silver Spring on
05-27-04.
-On 05-26-04, Shawn Detmer, age 30, of
the 1400 block of Grand Prix Road in Gaithersburg, was arrested and
charged with First-degree Burglary and Destruction of Property. The
arrest was the result of an incident in the unit block of W. Deer
Park Rd., Gaithersburg on 05-29-04.
