RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

June 10, 2005

 

ARMED ROBBERY
 

            -On 06-06-05, at 11:00 p.m., a 31-year-old Silver Spring woman was in the area of the 11500 block of Lockwood Dr. in Silver Spring, when she was approached by two suspects. Suspect #1 exited a parked vehicle, walked up to the victim with a gun, and demanded money. Suspect #1 pulled the purse away from the victim. Suspect #1 then fled back to the parked passenger car which was driven by Suspect #2.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20’s, 5’10”, 160 lbs., white hat, silver chain, white shirt.
            -Suspect #2 – Unknown 

            -On 06-07-05, at 3:00 a.m., a 22-year-old Silver Spring man was walking in the area of Quinton Dr. and Lanier Dr. when he was approached by two suspects. Suspect #1 displayed a knife and knocked the victim down. Suspect #2 went though the victim’s pockets and took cash. Both suspects were last seen running towards the Rosemary Hills Recreation Center.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20’s, 5’6”, 180 lbs., shaved head, white short with Ύ sleeves, #16 on back of shirt, black or blue baggy pants.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 20’s, 5’6”, 140 lbs., long side burns, zip-up sweater with long sleeves and hood, black pants. 

 

SEX ASSAULT 

            -Between 05-30-05 and 06-05-05, a 76-year-old Silver Spring woman reported that she was sexually assaulted several times by a male suspect while she was a patient at a nursing and rehabilitation facility in Silver Spring. This was reported by her 54-year-old daughter who lives in Washington, D.C.. The suspect’s identity is not known and the investigation is continuing.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 50 to 55, 5’8”, short black hair, medium build.

 

ATTEMPT ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 06-07-05, at 1:43 p.m., a 22-year-old Silver Spring man was outside an apartment complex on the corner of Garland Ave. and Domer Ave. when he was chased, but not caught by four suspects. Victim #2, an 18-year-old Silver Spring man, was caught by the suspects. They tackled him, punched, and kicked him, and took his necklace. They left in a vehicle described as a 1991 Ford Taurus, 4-door sedan, blue in color, with DC tags.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20’s, 6’4”, 190 lbs., black bandana, black hooded sweatshirt, grey pants.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 20’s, 5’4”, 140 lbs., red bandana, black T-shirt, tan shorts.
            -Suspect #3 – B/M, 20’s, 5’4”, 140 lbs., black bandana, black T-shirt, brown shorts, armed with silver knife.
            -Suspect #4 – B/M, 20’s, red hat, long hair, possibly dreadlocks, white T-shirt, blue jersey.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 06-06-05, at 2:30 p.m., a 16-year-old male was on a Ride On bus. At the bus stop at Clubhouse Rd. and Ridgeline Dr. in Montgomery Village, he tried to get back a cell phone which had been taken from him on the bus by Suspect #1. Suspect #3 began punching the victim on the side his head. The suspects then left and walked to the Montgomery Village Shopping Center.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 18 to 19, 5’8” to 5’9”, 150 to160 lbs., small goatee, white T-shirt, light blue jeans.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 17 to 18, 6’0”, 190 lbs., white T-shirt, dark blue jeans.
            -Suspect #3 – B/M, 18 to19, 6’0”, 190 lbs., bald, black tank top, black jeans, dark complexion. 

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 06-03-05, William Edward Ruth, age 42,  of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with burglary. The arrest was a result of burglary that had just occurred in the 13200 block of Cool Brook Lane in Clarksburg. 

            -On 06-08-05, Leon Taylor Sherman, 18, of the 19000 block of Marksburg Street in Germantown, was arrested and charged with Second and Fourth Degree Burglary, Malicious Destruction of Property over $500.00, Theft under $500.00, Trespassing, Possession of Burglar Tools and Obstructing and Hindering.  The arrest was the result of an incident that had just occurred at the Germantown Aquatic Center at 18909 Kingsview Road in Germantown. 

            -On 05-30-05, Donald Kenneth Epps, Jr., 29, of no fixed address in Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with Second and Fourth Degree Burglary, and Theft under $100.00.  The arrest was the result of an incident that had just occurred in the 8000 block of Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda.

            -WALTER JOHNSON HIGH SCHOOL, 6400 Rock Spring Drive in Bethesda, on 06-07-05 at 12:33 a.m.  Forced entry, nothing taken.

RESIDENTIAL 

            -2400 block of Lyttonsville Road in Silver Spring, between 4:00 p.m. on 05-31-05 and 12:00 p.m. on 06-06-05.  Possibly used key, property taken.           

 

3rd DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL 

-SENIOR SERVICES AMERICA, INC., 8403 Colesville Road in Silver Spring, between 7:30 p.m. on 06-02-05 and 7:50 a.m. on 06-04-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

RESIDENTIAL 

-14900 block of Saddle Creek Drive in Burtonsville, between 1:00 p.m. and 3:05 p.m. on 06-02-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -8500 block of Springvale Road in Silver Spring, between 8:00 a.m. on 05-05-05 and 12:00 p.m. on 05-20-05.  Possibly used key, property taken.

            -9600 block of Bruce Drive in the north Hills of Sligo Park area of Silver Spring, between 8:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on 06-06-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -1200 block of Cresthaven Drive in the Hillendale area of Silver Spring, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on 06-05-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -14500 block of Perrywood Drive in Burtonsville, between 8:10 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on 06-06-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -WESTFIELD SHOPPINGTOWN WHEATON, (Wheaton Plaza), 1110 Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton, between 8:00 p.m. on 06-03-05 and 6:30 a.m. on 06-04-05.  Forced entry, nothing taken.

            -MT. CARMEL METHODIST CHURCH, 22222 Georgia Avenue in Brookeville, between 11:00 a.m. on 05-29-05 and 2:00 p.m. on 06-04-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -THREE AMIGO’S RESTAURANT, 13643 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, between 11:30 p.m. on 05-31-05 and 9:08 p.m. on 06-01-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -GRIFF’S PLACE, 5500 Olney-Laytonsville Road in Laytonsville, at 1:37 a.m. on 05-31-05.  Forced entry, nothing taken.
