RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

June 14, 2005

 

RAPE

            -On 06-09-05, at 9:35 p.m., a 44-year-old Silver Spring woman reported that on five occasions between 01-10-05 and 04-12-05, she was raped by the father of the child she was babysitting at her house and at his house.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 06-08-05, at 1:30 p.m., a 21-year-old Gaithersburg man was walking with a friend on a path behind Winding Creek Way in Germantown, when a suspect approached from the bushes.  The suspect displayed a silver handgun and demanded the victim’s property. The suspect then hit the victim over the head causing him to pass out.  When the victim regained consciousness, he discovered he was missing cash.  The victim then went to the hospital for treatment.

        Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-30, 6’2”-6’3”, 200-250 lbs., black scarf on head and face, blue jeans, black shirt.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY

            -On 06-06-05, at 7:00 p.m., a 19-year-old Silver Spring man was leaving Wheaton Plaza with his girlfriend when he got into a verbal altercation with three suspects.  The suspects then left in a black Lexus SUV.  A short time later, the victim saw the suspects in front of the Metro garage.  Suspect #1 got out of the black Lexus SUV and approached the male victim.  Suspects #1 and #2 assaulted the victim then fled in the vehicle.

        Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, 23-26, 5’9”, 170 lbs., green eyes, braces on teeth, black T-shirt with “Scarface” picture.

        Suspect #2 – Hispanic/M, 23-26, 5’7”, 190 lbs., crew cut, unshaved, yellow/green/white striped shirt.

        Suspect #3 – Hispanic/M, 23-26, 6’3”, 200 lbs., goatee, white shirt.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY ARREST

            -On 05-27-05, six juvenile males, two 15 years old, two sixteen years old, and two 17 years old all of Washington D.C.,  were arrested and charged with Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Theft Under $500, and 2nd Degree Assault.   The arrests were the result of an incident the same day. 

 

INDECENT EXPOSURE

            -On 06-06-05, at 7:15 a.m., a 19-year-old Silver Spring woman reported that while she was running in the area of Hermitage Ave. and Nairn Rd. in Wheaton she saw a man sitting in a white Ford van that was parked at the dead-end. The suspect got out of the van, dropped his pants, and exposed himself.  The victim continued jogging and called police when she returned home.

        Suspect #1 – W/M, 5’7”, 150 lbs., blue eyes, mustache, blue jeans, white T-shirt, glasses. 

            -On 06-07-05, at 2:50 p.m., an 18-year-old Silver Spring woman and her sister were walking in the area of Glenallen Ave. and Layhill Rd. in Wheaton when they encountered a male suspect standing in a small group of trees. The suspect exposed himself to the women and then fled the scene.

        Suspect #1 – unknown race male, blue jeans, white tank top. 

            -On 06-08-05, at 3:45 p.m., a 45-year-old Silver Spring woman was walking with her children into an apartment building in the 2100 block of Dexter Ave in the Forest Glen area of Silver Spring, when she noticed a man following her.  She turned around as she entered an apartment and saw the suspect pulling his pants down. She screamed and closed the door, then looked out the window and saw the suspect leave in a green vehicle with MD tags.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 06-07-05, at 11:37 p.m., Gerry Jerome Bigelow, 41, of the 4300 block of Kinmount Dr. Lanham, and Corey Anthony Dunbar, 40, of the 4800 block of Wood Rd. in Temple Hills were arrested.  Both were charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Burglary, Burglary – 4th Degree Theft, Theft Over $500, Malicious Destruction of Property Over $500, and five counts of Conspiracy.  The arrests were a result of an incident that day at the Quattro Auto Body Shop, at 9151 Brookville Rd. in Silver Spring.

3RD DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -UNIVERSAL SUPERMARKET, 8639 Flower Ave. in the Rolling Terrace area of Silver Spring, between 5:47 a.m. and 5:49 a.m. on 06-08-05. Forced entry, property taken.

            -SELF STORAGE PLUS, 11105 New Hampshire Ave. in the White Oak area of Silver Spring, between 2:15 p.m. on 06-03-05 and 4:00 p.m. on 06-06-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -BERKSHIRE OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT, 3900 Blackburn Lane in the Blackburn Village area of Silver Spring, between 4:00 p.m. on 06-07-05 and 10:00 a.m. on 06-08-05.  Forced entry, property taken. 

RESIDENTIAL

            -100 block of Croyden Court in the Highland View area of Silver Spring, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on 06-07-05.  Entry made, no force, property taken.

            -9400 block of Biltmore Road in the Indian Spring Terrace area of Silver Spring, between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on 06-08-05.  Attempt only.

            -14800 block of McKnew Road in Burtonsville, between 12:00 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. on 06-09-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -1900 block of Luzerne Avenue in the Forest Glen Park area of Silver Spring, between 8:20 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on 06-08-05.  Forced entry, property taken.
