RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

 

June 16, 2006 

 

ARMED ROBBERY

            -On 05-30-06 at 4:24 p.m., the Golden Crown Hair Salon at 4811 Cheltenham Drive in Bethesda was robbed.  The suspect entered the store twice, once at 3:30 p.m. to ask a question about services, and again at 3:45 p.m., when he asked about services for his girlfriend.  He then displayed a handgun and demanded money from the register.  He then took money from the female clerk, and fled on foot in an unknown direction.  The clerk was not harmed.

        Suspect – B/M, 25-29, 6’0”, 150-160 lbs., thin beard, mustache and stubble, black t-shirt, blue jeans, black sneakers, black baseball cap. 

-On 05-26-06 at 7:00 a.m., four men forced their way into an apartment in the 1700 block of January Drive while the male tenant was there.  He was held at gunpoint by one suspect, while the other three stole items from the home.  The suspects then exited the apartment and left the scene in a vehicle of unknown description.  The victim was unharmed.

        Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’6” to 5’7”, 140-150 lbs., gray t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers.

        Suspects #2, 3, and 4 – B/M 

-On 05-26-06 at 9:46 p.m., the Exxon gas station at 10206 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring was robbed.  Two suspects entered the business, displayed a handgun, and ordered the male employee to open the cash register.  The suspects then stole property, to include cigarettes, the employee’s cell phone, and cash from the register, before fleeing on foot.  The employee was not harmed.

        Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 5’11”, thin build, black jacket.

        Suspect #2 – B/M, 20-25, 6’0”, muscular build, dreadlocks/twists, muscular, green and white jersey-style shirt. 

-On 05-28-06 at 10:00 p.m., a 16-year-old Silver Spring male was at the Silver Spring Metro Station when he was approached from behind by two suspects.  Suspect #1 implied a gun and demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim gave up his wallet to Suspect #2. The suspects then walked away and headed toward Colesville Road.  The victim was not harmed.

        Suspect #1 – B/M, 18-20, 6’1”-6’3”, 150-160 lbs., dreadlocks, blue jeans, red collared shirt.

        Suspect #2 – B/M, 18-20.

-On 05-29-06 at 1:02 a.m., a Wheaton man was waiting for a bus at the Silver Spring Metro at 1171 Bonifant Street in Silver Spring, when he was approached by two males, one of whom produced a handgun and demanded money.  The victim’s wallet was taken, and cash removed. The suspects then returned the wallet before running down Colesville Rd. toward East-West Highway.  The victim was not injured.

        Suspect #1 – B/M, 25-30, 5’9” to 5’10”, 170-180 lbs., thin build, brown eyes, black hair, medium brown skin tone, white shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers.

        Suspect #2 – B/M, 25-30, 5’8” to 5’9”, 150-160 lbs., medium build, brown eyes, black hair, corn rows, red shirt, cutoff blue jean shorts. 

-On 06-03-06 at about 12:40 a.m., a 37 year-old Silver Spring man was leaving the Silver Spring Metro on Colesville Rd. when he was approached by a black male suspect. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money and the victim’s wallet, and obtained cash from the victim. During this robbery, a second suspect took other personal property from the victim’s pockets.  The suspects fled on foot, last seen traveling south on Colesville Road towards East West Highway.  The victims were not harmed.

        Suspect #1 – B/M, 18-25, 5’8”-5’10”, 140-170 lbs., white shirt, gray pants. 

            -On 06-05-06 at about 1:00 a.m., 3 Hispanic males, ages 19, 24, and 32, all of Silver Spring, were standing on Quebec Ave. near Ruatan St. in Silver Spring when a dark 4-door car approached.  Suspect #1 exited the car, displayed a gun, and demanded money from the victims.  One of the victims pulled out his cell phone and said he was calling the police. Suspect #1 pointed the gun at this victim and fired one round, striking one of the victims. The victims ran away. The suspect fired more shots, but none of these rounds struck the victims. The struck victim was later transported to a local hospital to be treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

        Suspect #1 – B/M, 18-25, 5’8”-5’10”, 140-170 lbs., black  hair, brown eyes, white tank top-style t-shirt, grey sweatpants.

        Suspect #2 – B/M, 18-25, 5’8”-5’10”, 140-170 lbs., black hair, brown eyes, black and red t-shirt, black baseball cap. 

            -On 05-28-06, at 10:05 p.m., a 39 year-old Silver Spring man was walking on Linton St. toward Patton St. in Silver Spring, when he passed a white, newer model minivan parked on the street with four suspects standing outside it.  Two suspects approached the victim from behind.  One suspect displayed a long gun and demanded money. Suspect #2 pressed what the victim thought was a small handgun to the victim’s back. The victim complied with the demand, turning over his wallet. All four suspects then fled in the van in the direction of University Boulevard.  The victim was unharmed.

        Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 5’10”, very short hair, black T-shirt, dark-colored blue jeans.
·
        Suspect #2 – B/M, 20-25, 5’7”, thin, black tank top, dark blue jeans.  

-On 05-27-06 at 2:50 a.m., the McDonalds located at 504 E. Randolph Rd. in Silver Spring was robbed.  A lone suspect approached two delivery men outside the McDonald’s, and asked them to be quiet.  They saw the gun he held and physically confronted him.  The suspect broke away and went into the McDonald’s, where he displayed the gun and demanded that an employee open the safe. The employee complied, and the suspect soon fled in an unknown direction.  Unknown if proceeds were obtained.  None of the victims or witnesses were harmed.

        Suspect – B/M, 6’0”-6’2”, green army-type jacket, black pants, black police-style boots.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

-On 06-06-06 at 4:21 p.m., a 13-year-old girl from Silver Spring reported that she was walking home from school, when a female suspect of middle school age told her to move away from her building in the area of the 100 block of Schuyler Rd. in Silver Spring.  As the victim walked past the building again later, the suspect brandhished a long kitchen knife at the victim, and the suspect and several others chased the victim all the way back to her home in the 100 block of Croyden Ct. in Silver Spring, where the victim escaped inside unharmed.

        Suspect #1 – B/F, 5’2”-5’5”, 100 lbs. 

-On 06-07-06 at 1:57 a.m., the residents of a home in the 20000 block of Appledowre Cir. in Germantown, called police to report shots fired at their home.  Preliminary investigation reveals that the victim family had just fallen asleep, when there came the noise of shattering glass.  They found that a window in the children’s room had been shattered, and that shots had been fired into the room.  No family member was physically hurt.  There is no suspect information. 

-On 06-02-06 at 5:15 p.m., a 25-year-old  Frederick man, and a 26-year-old Montgomery Village man were attacked by a group of black male suspects, who beat and stabbed them, after they went outside to retrieve the Frederick man’s 4-year-old son.  Both were treated at local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.

        Suspect #1 – B/M, 12-20. 

 

INDECENT EXPOSURE 

-On 06-02-06 at 8:00 a.m., a 49-year-old woman and a woman (unknown age), both from Rockville, were jogging near the intersection of Auburn Ave. and Princeton Pl., when they noticed the suspect walking toward them.  As he got closer to them, he unzipped his pants and exposed himself to them.  He then casually walked away.

        Suspect – B/M, 20-25, gray t-shirt, worn blue jeans, blue cap.

-On 06-05-06 at 2:00 p.m., a 54-year-old woman was in the area of the 800 block of Pheasant Run Dr. in Gaithersburg, when she saw a male neighbor, naked and standing in his back yard exposing himself.

 

SEX OFFENSE 

-On 06-05-6 at 5:55 p.m., a 15-year-old girl reported to police that she was in an apartment laundry room in the 500 block of Southampton Dr., when the male suspect, who was also in the laundry room, grabbed her, and touched her inappropriately.  He then fled on foot, leaving his laundry behind.

        Suspect – H/M, 18-20, 5’5”-5’6”, 150-160 lbs., very short hair.
