RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

 

June 20, 2006

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 06-07-06, at 12:30 a.m., the 7-Eleven store, located at 785 Rockville Pike in Rockville was robbed. Three suspects entered the store and brandished a gun and a knife. One of the males acted as a lookout. The other two males took merchandise from behind the register. The victim fled to the back of the store. The 3 suspects fled the store in an unknown direction.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 22-25, 5’9”, 160-170 lbs., thin, gray sweatshirt.
            -Suspect #2 & #3 – B/M, 16-19, 5’8”, 150-160 lbs., white shirt, black hat.  

            -On 06-02-06, at 6:45 a.m., a 25-year-old Gaithersburg woman was waiting to turn left from Old Georgetown Rd. onto Ryland Ave. in Bethesda when Suspect #1 got out of a blue Nissan Altima, 2006, with DC tags, which was stopped behind her. Suspect #1 ordered her out of her car and drove it away. The victim’s car was a green Nissan Altima. Suspect #2 drove the original vehicle. Both vehicles drove north on Old Georgetown toward I-495.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 25-40, 6’0”, 175 lbs., black baseball hat, dark clothing.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M.  

            -On 06-02-06, at 5:25 a.m., a 71-year-old Silver Spring man was in the 8300 block of Tahona Dr. in Silver Spring when a black SUV with Md. Tags drove up. Suspect #1, the Hispanic female driver, got out and asked for directions. Meanwhile, Suspect #2 got out of the vehicle, grabbed the victim, and cut his wallet from his pants with a knife. Both suspects then fled down Tahona in the direction of Osage Street.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/F.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 5’8”-5’10”, 150-180 lbs., black T-shirt.  

            -On 06-06-06, at 11:05 p.m., a delivery person for Pizza Hut in Silver Spring was making a delivery to the 8800 block of Piney Branch Rd. in Silver Spring when 3 suspects approached the victim. They displayed a knife and demanded money and a cell phone. 
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 18-20, 5’9”, 150 lbs., red shirt, black slacks, red bandana.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 18-20, 6’1”, 200 lbs., black pants, yellow shirt.
            -Suspect #3 – Hispanic/F, 17-20, 5’4”, 145 lbs., long hair, yellow shirt.  

           -On 06-06-06, at 8:20 a.m., a 51-year-old Silver Spring woman reported that a suspect entered a home in the 12200 block of Selfridge Rd. in Silver Spring and went to the kitchen. He produced a knife and demanded money from the victim. She said she had none. He told her to leave the house and followed her out the door.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, 5’7”-5’9”, black coat, red hat, black slacks, red shirt. 

            -On 06-01-06, at 9:45 a.m., a suspect forced his way into a home in the 1100 block of Navahoe Dr. in Silver Spring. He took cash, jewelry and other property. The homeowner was not injured.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, 25-35, 5’5”-5’7”, 150-170 lbs., very short hair, green shirt, black pants. 

            -On 05-21-06, at 10:40 p.m., a Silver Spring man was driving a blue 1999 Mitsubishi SUV and had stopped on Carroll Ave. at Piney Branch Rd. in Silver Spring when a suspect approached from an unknown direction. The suspect opened the door and produced a knife and demanded the money and the car. The victim was then forced to drive to another location before he was forced from his vehicle. The suspect drove the vehicle onto southbound New Hampshire and fled.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, 6’0”, white shirt, tan pants. 

            -On 06-02-06, at 3:30 a.m., a 22-year-old College Park man was driving northbound on Piney Branch Rd. when he stopped for a light at Dale Drive in Silver Spring. Suspect #1 approached and pulled him out of the car. Suspect #2 got into the driver’s seat. Keys and CDs were taken. The vehicle was described as a yellow Honda roadster, with Pa. temp tags.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, 26, 6’0”, 180 lbs., light skin.
            -Suspect #2 – Hispanic/M, 26. 

            -On 05-26-06, at 9:45 p.m., a delivery person for Pizza Hut in Olney was attempting to make a delivery in the 18100 block of Pond Ridge Rd. in Olney when the resident said she had not ordered any. When the victim returned to his car, he was accosted by 3 suspects. They hit the victim with a baseball bat and took cash. All suspects then ran to a wooded area.
            -Suspect #1 and #2 and #3 – B/M, 15-20, 5’11”, 160 lbs., black shirt, black slacks.

 

BANK ROBBERY 

            -On 06-07-06, at 5:40 p.m., the Chevy Chase Bank, located at 101 Halpine Rd. in Rockville was robbed. Suspect #1 entered the bank and went to a teller’s window. Suspect #1, a female, produced a note announcing the robbery. She demanded money and the clerk handed over some cash.  Both suspects then fled the bank. (Previous Press Release Issued)
            -Suspect #1 – F, white T-shirt, blue jeans, black sunglasses.
            -Suspect #2 –M, white tank top shirt, blue jeans, black sunglasses.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 05-30-06, at 9:30 p.m., a 52-year-old Rockville man got off a bus at Connecticut Ave. and Georgia Ave. in Wheaton and was immediately accosted by 2 suspects. Suspect #1, a female, grabbed the victim’s hand while Suspect #2, a male, punched the victim. The victim ran away. The suspects fled in the opposite direction. No property was obtained.
            -Suspect #1 – W/F, 14-19, glasses.
            -Suspect #2 – W/M, 14-19, 6’0”, white T-shirt. 

            -On 06-03-06, at 11:00 p.m., a 35-year-old Silver Spring man was at the 2500 block of Newton St. in Silver Spring when 2 unknown Hispanic males attacked the victim. They punched the victim and took his cell phone and wallet. The suspects then fled toward Georgia Avenue. 

            -On 06-05-06, at 1:10 a.m., 2 male victims, ages 16 and 17, from Silver Spring were robbed at the intersection of University Blvd. W. and Sutherland Rd. in Silver Spring. Two suspects approached them and Suspect #2 punched one of the victims. One of the victims gave up his wallet. The suspects then fled down Sutherland to a waiting vehicle.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 18-20, 5’10”, 170 lbs., bald, twists hair, white shirt, blue jeans black doo rag.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 18-20, 5’6”, 150 lbs., blue jeans, black shirt. 

            -On 06-05-06, at 4:40 p.m., 3 male Germantown youths, ages 12, 13, 14, encountered 4 suspects in the Germantown Commons Shopping Center. All 3 victims were then assaulted by the various suspects. Property was taken from the victims. The suspects were last seen walking toward the Germantown library.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 14-19, 5’6”-5’8”, 130-160 lbs., long hair.
            -Suspect #2 – Hispanic/M, 14-19, 5’6”-5’8”, 120-160 lbs., short hair.
            -Suspect #3 – W/M, 14-19, 5’6”-5’9”, 120-160 lbs., long hair.
            -Suspect #4 – W/M, 14-19. 

            -On 05-29-06, at 9:00 p.m., a 30-year-old Rockville man was in the 4400 block of Aspen Hill Drive in Rockville when Suspect #1 approached the victim from behind and said something to get the victim’s attention. The victim turned around. Then, Suspect #1 walked away and Suspects #2 and #3 tackled the victim from behind and began assaulting him and took his wallet.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 6’3”-6’5”, 220-240 lbs.
            -Suspect #2 and #3 – B/M, 20-25. 

            -On 05-29-06, at midnight, a 34-year-old Rockville man was walking in the area of Connecticut Ave. and Weller Dr. in Wheaton when 2 black males approached him and asked for money. The victim said he had none. The suspects pushed him to the ground and kicked him and removed his wallet which contained cash.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, thin, black pants, white shirt.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 20-25, very short hair, black slacks, white shirt. 

            -On 05-29-06, at 11:00 p.m., a 38-year-old Wheaton man exited a bus at Randolph and Veirs Mill and walked to Dean Rd. where he was approached by a red mini van with 4 suspects. Suspect #1 and #2 exited the vehicle and punched the victim and took his wallet.
            -Suspect #1 – Unknown.  (no description of the suspects) 

            -On 05-30-06, at 10:30 p.m., a 55-year-old Silver Spring woman was leaving the Super Fresh Grocery Store in the 3900 block of Aspen Hill Rd. in Silver Spring when a suspect ran up behind her. He proceeded to grab the victim’s arm and removed her wallet. The suspect then ran towards the Giant Food across Aspen Hill Road.
            -Suspect #1 – gray T-shirt, blue shorts. 

            -On 06-01-06, at 1:00 a.m., a 35-year-old Silver Spring man was walking south on Connecticut Ave. near Littleton Street in Wheaton when 4 suspects jumped him from behind. They took his wallet and ran south on Connecticut toward Kayson and entered a dark 4 door sedan. The vehicle then fled south on Connecticut toward Randolph Road.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, blue shirt. 

            -On 06-01-06, at midnight, a 44-year-old Rockville man was walking near the Twinbrook Recreation Center in the 12900 block of Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville when he was struck in the back of the head with a blunt object. Four black males took his book bag, wallet, and cell phone from his shirt and pants pockets. The victim was taken to the local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 18-20, black T-shirt.
