RECENT CRIME SUMMARY
June 22, 2006
STRONG ARM ROBBERY
-On 06-04-06, at 12:20 a.m., a
23-year-old Hyattsville man was walking on New Hampshire Ave. at Fox
St. in Silver Spring when a white Oldsmobile approached him. Two
suspects got out and demanded money. They grabbed his cell phone and
then released him. A passerby was pulled from his vehicle and became
a second victim. He also lost his cell phone.
-Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, white T-shirt, blue jeans,
blue bandana.
-Suspect #2 – Hispanic/M, 26, 5’8”, 160 lbs.,
multicolored shirt, blue jeans.
-On 06-02-06, at
4:05 p.m., the Spring Beer and Wine Store, located at 8645 16th
St. in Silver Spring was robbed. Two suspects entered the store and
grabbed the owner/victim. The victim broke free and yelled. The
suspects escaped out the back door. No property was taken.
-Suspect #1 – B/M, 18-24, 5’11”-6’1”, 170-200 lbs., bald, white
sweatshirt, blue pants, black bandana.
-Suspect #2 –
B/M, 18-24, 5’7”-5’10”, 150-170 lbs., white Redskins hat, white
sweatshirt, black jeans.
-On 05-27-06, at 1:30 a.m., a 21-year-old
Silver Spring woman was in the hallway near the elevator of a
building in the 11200 block of Oakleaf Dr. in Silver Spring when a
known suspect struck her in the face and took her cell phone. The
suspect’s identity is known to the victim, and the investigation is
continuing.
-Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 6’1”-6’2”, 180-200 lbs.,
goatee, very short hair, blue shirt, tan shorts.
-On 05-26-06, at 6:00 p.m., a 17-year-old
Silver Spring youth exited a bus at a Wheaton Metro in the 11100
block of Georgia Ave. and brushed up against a suspect. The suspect
pushed the victim and a fight ensued. The victim was knocked to the
ground and his cell phone was taken.
-Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’8”-5’10”, 200-220lbs., very short
hair, black T-shirt.
-On 05-29-06, at 4:29 p.m., an
18-year-old Gaithersburg female was exiting a Metro bus at Veirs
Mill Rd. at Robindale Dr. in Wheaton when two female suspects pulled
the victim from the bus, beat her, and grabbed her purse. The
suspects fled the scene on foot into the apartment complex across
the street.
-Suspect #1 – B/F, 15-18, 5’3”, 170 lbs., red hair, pink
shirt, red pants, white shoes.
-Suspect #2 – B/F, 15-18, 5’6”, 120 lbs., red shirt,
blue jeans.
-On 05-28-06, at 3:20 p.m., an Orlando,
FL couple was in the parking lot of the Gold’s Gym in the 300 block
of Muddy Branch Rd. in Gaithersburg when they were approached by a
person. After a brief conversation the suspect hit the male victim.
When the female victim tried to intervene, he also hit her and took
cash from her hand. The suspect then fled on foot towards West Side
Drive.
-Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’11”, 170-180 lbs., short hair,
goatee, blue jeans, white shirt.
-On 06-02-06, at 5:45 a.m., a 21-year-old
Silver Spring man was in the Unit block of Manchester Rd. walking
with known individuals when they began to kick and punch him. They
took his money. Four suspects were positively identified. The
investigation will continue.
CARJACKING
-On 06-02-06, at noon, an 18-year-old
Germantown woman was using an ATM machine at the Montgomery Village
Shopping Center when a suspect jumped into her car as she was
leaving and forced her drive away. He took cash from her purse as
she drove to the Milestone Shopping Center in Germantown. The
suspect then fled on foot when a person approached the vehicle.
-Suspect #1 – black hat, white shirt, white shoes.
UNDERAGE ALCOHOL PARTY
-On 06-09-06, at 8:40 p.m., police
responded to the 5300 block of Crown St. in Bethesda for the report
of an underage alcohol party. There were 7 people in attendance.
There were 6 juvenile alcohol citations issued. There was 1 adult
alcohol citation issued. There were 5 arrests for CDS (marijuana).
ARMED ROBBERY
-On 06-07-06, at 10:00 p.m., a cab driver
for a company in D.C. had picked up a fare on N. Capitol St. in the
District and took him to the area of Cashell Rd. and Bowie Mill Road
in Wheaton. When they stopped, the suspect produced a handgun and
took cash from the driver. The suspect then fled the vehicle and
into a nearby wood line.
-Suspect #1 – No description was available.
ROBBERY ARREST
-On 05-12-06, at 3:00 p.m., 2
twelve-year-old Burtonsville male juveniles and a 14 year-old male
juvenile from Burtonsville were arrested and charged with robbery,
theft under $500, and 2nd degree assault. The arrests
were a result of an incident in the unit block of Scarlet Sage Ct.
in Burtonsville that had just occurred.
-On 05-26-06, at 11:30 a.m., a
17-year-old Gaithersburg male juvenile was arrested and charged with
robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. The arrest was a result of
a robbery at the Gaithersburg High School that had just occurred.
-On 06-12-06, at 9:40 pm, four juvenile
males (two 15-year-olds, two 14-year-olds) were arrested and charged
with 1 count of Attempted Armed Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit
Armed Robbery. The arrests were the result of an incident that just
occurred in the Unit block of Cross Ridge Court in Germantown.
-On 06-13-06, at 8:45 pm, two juvenile
males (16-years-old) were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, 1st
and 2nd degree Assault, and Theft under $500. The arrests
were the result of an incident at PRO SPORTS, 12337 Georgia Avenue
in Wheaton that had just occurred.
-On 06-8-06, at 10:15 pm, Osman Martinez,
age 18, of the 14100 block of Valleyfield Drive in Silver Spring and
Anthony Lopez, age 18, of the 15000 block of Dinsdale Drive in
Silver Spring were arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd
degree Assault, Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Assault,
Conspiracy to Commit 2nd Degree Assault, Armed Robbery,
And Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery. The arrests were a result of
an incident in the 13300 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver
Spring that had just occurred.
ASSAULT ARREST
-On 06-08-06, at 6:10 pm, a juvenile male
(17-years-old) was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd
degree Assault. The arrest was the result of an incident in the
11400 block of Applegrath Way in Germantown that had just occurred.
BURGLARY ARREST
-On 06-08-06, at 6:00 am, Heather Nicole
Miner, age 18, of the 3100 block of Hewitt Avenue and Anthony
Lafonta Green, age 20, of the 3100 block of Hewitt Avenue were
arrested along with a juvenile male (age 17) and charged with 4th
degree Burglary. The arrests were the result of an incident in the
3000 block of Hewitt Avenue in Wheaton that had just occurred.
