ATTEMPT ARMED ROBBERY/ARREST

            -On 06-29-04, Juan Manuel Garcia, age 37, unknown address, was arrested and charged with Attempted Armed Robbery, 1st Degree Assault, and carrying a concealed weapon. The arrest was a result of an attempted-armed robbery at a bus stop in the 8500 block of Piney Branch Rd. in Silver Spring. The defendant displayed and knife and demanded money. The victim ran away.

 

ATTEMPT ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 06-26-04, at 2:00 a.m., a 26-year-old Wheaton man was walking in the area of Elkin St. and Blue Ridge Dr. when he was approached by 3 suspects. One of the suspects asked for money. The victim said he had none. Another suspect hit the victim with a bottle that was in a paper bag. The victim sustained cuts and was taken to a local hospital. The suspects walked off toward Blue Ridge Street. No property was obtained. The suspects were all described as black males, 20-25, 5’11”, 200 lbs., dark shirt, and dark shorts. Two suspects had Afro style hair and the other had long braids. Two had light mustaches and the other had a light goatee.

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 06-27-04, at 9:50 p.m., a 27-year-old Montgomery Village woman was in the 18600 block of Walkers Choice Rd in Montgomery Village when she was approached by 2 teen-aged males. Suspect #1 (B/M, 18-20, 5’6”-5’8”, 150-160 lbs., hat, white shirt, grey jogging pants, white shoes) asked for an address and then pulled out a handgun and grabbed the victim’s purse. The suspects were last seen running down Walkers Choice Road. A purse and cell phone was obtained. Suspect #2 was described the same as Suspect #1.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 06-23-04, at 10:40 p.m., a 21-year-old Silver Spring man was riding his bike on the sidewalk in the area of Connecticut Ave. and Grand Pre Rd. in Wheaton when he was approached by 5 black males. The suspects were described as dark skinned, 20-25, two with white shirts, one with black pants, and one with a jersey type shirt. They pushed the victim to the ground and took his bike and Walkman and ran towards Grand Pre Road.

            -On 06-18-04, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a 35-year-old Gaithersburg man was in the area of Nike Missile Park in Gaithersburg when he was struck by an unknown suspect and knocked unconscious. When he awoke his wallet and cell phone was missing.

            -On 06-28-04, at 3:50 p.m., a delivery person for China King in Silver Spring was attempting to make a delivery to an apartment in the 3200 block of Hewitt Ave. when a suspect punched him and knocked him to the ground. He took the victim’s wallet and food and fled through the rear basement door. The suspect was described as a black male, 6’0”-6’2”, 200-220 lbs., purple shirt, blue jeans, with a black ski mask.

            -On 06-20-04, at 1:00 a.m., a 21-year-old Rockville man was at a party at an unknown residence near the area of Norbeck Rd. and Muncaster Mill Rd., in the Flower Valley subdivision of Silver Spring when he was attack by an unknown group of males. They beat the victim and took his jewelry. The suspects then left the party in an unknown direction.  The victim went home to call police and was unable to provide a location for the incident. 

            -On 06-28-04, at 8:30 a.m., a 48-year-old Sterling, Va. woman was loading groceries in front of the Safeway Store in the 10100 block of New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring when a suspect pushed her and grabbed her purse. The suspect (B/M, 6’0”, red, white and blue bandana, black and white shirt, slim build) then fled the area on foot. The victim gave chase and saw the suspect enter a white box style van.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARREST  

            -On 06-30-04, Christopher Michael Myers, age 43, of Rocky Ridge, Md. was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment. The arrest was a result of an incident in the 27600 block of Ridge Rd. in Damascus where the defendant produced a shotgun and threatened the victim, a 38 year-old Damascus man.

 

SEX ASSAULT 

            -On 06-30-04, a 15-year-old Rockville youth was arrested and charged with 2 counts of sex offense, 2nd degree. The arrest was a result of the defendant sexually assaulting a 6 year-old family friend.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -5900 block of Montrose Rd., Rockville, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. on 06-26-04.  Forced door, money taken.

            -12000 block of Middle Rd., Silver Spring, between 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on 06-25-04.  Forced open door, money taken.

 

2nd DISTRICT  

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -THE CARPET CLEANER, 2604 Garfield Ave., Silver Spring, between 11:05 p.m. and 11:22 p.m. on 06-21-04.  Entered garage, floor-cleaning equipment taken.

            -LAB PRODUCTS INC & BIOMEDIC DATA SYSTEM, 11300 Rockville Pike, between 5:30 p.m. on 06-22-04 and 8:30 a.m. on 06-23-04.  Attempt only, pried lock.

            -B.L. BLACKWELL CO., 7758 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, between 8:00 p.m. on 06-22-04 and 8:00 a.m. on 06-23-04.  Entered business, unknown what was taken.

            -UNIVERSITY CAMERA REPAIR, 7758 Wisconsin Ave, Bethesda, between 8:00 p.m. on 06-22-04 and 8:00 a.m. on 06-23-04.  Entered business, camera taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -9100 block of Quintana Dr., Bethesda, between 8:30 a.m. on 06-25-04 and 1:00 p.m. on 06-26-04.  Broke out window, rug taken.

            -5400 block of York Lane, Bethesda, between 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. on 06-25-04.  Pried open door, fare cards and money taken.

                       

3rd District 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -AMERICA HAIR DESIGN, 8551 Piney Branch Rd., Silver Spring, between 10:30 p.m. on 06-22-04 and 10:30 a.m. on 06-23-04.  Attempt only, window broken.

            -BURTONSVILLE AUTO BODY, 15408 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville, at 1:40 a.m. on 06-26-04.  Pried lock, unknown what was taken.

            -SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, 8900 Colesville Rd., Silver Spring, between unknown times between 06-23-04 and 06-24-04.  Entered church, unknown what was taken.

            -COLESVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 52 Randolph Rd., Silver Spring, between 2:30 p.m. on 06-22-04 and 8:38 a.m. on 06-23-04.  Forced door, unknown what was taken.

            -HARRY’S CAFÉ, 13816 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring, between 1:30 a.m. and 8:48 a.m. on 06-26-04.  Broke out window, nothing appears to be missing.

            -SEAFOOD IN THE BUFF, 649 University Blvd., Silver Spring, between 5:00 p.m. on 06-25-04 and 8:50 a.m. on 06-26-04.  Pried door, money taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -2100 block of Walsh View Terr., Silver Spring, between 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 06-17-04.  Forced door, unknown what was taken.

            -11400 block of Lockwood Dr., White Oak, between 10:00 p.m. and 10:16 p.m. on 06-21-04.   Entered home, unknown what was taken.

            -13700 block of Colgate Way, Briggs Chaney, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on 06-21-04.  Climbed through window, jewelry taken.

            -13600 block of Colgate Way, Briggs Chaney, between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on 06-24-04.  Pried door, weapons, camera equipment, and Playstation games taken.

            -8900 block of Walden Rd., Silver Spring, between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on 06-28-04.  Attempt only, pried door.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -BROOK RUN TREE FARM, 18201 Brooke Rd., Ashton, between 5:00 p.m. on 06-21-04 and 6:45 a.m. on 06-22-04.  Forced open door, radio, microwave, and computer equipment taken.

            -SOLE D’ITALIA RESTAURANT, 12 Olney-Sandy Spring Rd., Ashton, between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on 06-28-04.  Broke out window, cash drawer taken.

            -GRAND PRE MANOR CONDO ASSOCIATION, 3850 Bel Pre Rd., Wheaton, between 11:00 a.m. on 06-23-04 and 9:00 a.m. on 06-24-04.  Cut locks, locks taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -13300 block of Dove St., Silver Spring, between 3:15 a.m. and 3:45 a.m. on 06-24-04. Attempt only, pried door.

            -600 block of Kemp Mill Forest Rd., Wheaton, at 7:27 p.m. on 06-24-04.  Climbed through window, camera and computer equipment taken.

            -3300 block of Buehler Rd., Olney, between 3:00 p.m. on 06-18-04 and 8:00 a.m. on 06-22-04.  Forced window, unknown what was taken.

            -5400 block of Olney-Laytonsville Rd., Olney, between 11:30 p.m. on 06-21-04 and 2:00 a.m. on 06-22-04.  Forced door, camera taken.

            -14000 block of London Lane, Rockville, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on 06-22-04.  Entered shed, bicycle taken.

            -2300 block of Georgian Way, Wheaton, between 2:30 p.m. on 04-27-04 and 5:00 p.m. on 06-27-04.  Climbed through window, jewelry taken.

            -3000 block of Gwayne Terr., Wheaton, between 3:00 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. on 06-25-04.  Broke out window, money taken.

            -1200 block of Cavendish Dr., Silver Spring, between 4:00 p.m. on 06-13-04 and 6:15 p.m. on 06-26-04.  Attempt only, pried door.

            -11800 block of Saddlerock Rd., Silver Spring, between 6:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. on 06-24-04.  Entered home, computer equipment and money taken.

            -Unit block of Barkwood Ct., Rockville, between 1:00 p.m. and unknown time on 06-23-04.  Forced open door, Playstation game system and game, DVD player, and money taken.

            -22000 block of Eagle’s Nest Ct., Germantown, between 8:00 p.m. on 06-26-04 and 11:30 a.m. on 06-27-04.  Attempt only, window broken.

            -20400 block of Cabana Dr., Germantown, between 2:30 p.m. on 06-25-04 and 11:30 p.m. on 06-27-04.  Entered home, jewelry taken.

            -19600 block of Selby Ave., Poolesville, between 7:00 p.m. on 06-21-04 and 2:00 p.m. on 06-23-04.  Attempt only, pried door.

-TENIUS VISION CENTER, 16819 Crabbs Branch Way, Derwood, between 7:53 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on 06-24-04.  Entered business, money taken.

            -PAMPERED NAIL SALON, 356 Main St., Gaithersburg, between 6:00 a.m. on 05-25-04 and 12:00 p.m. on 06-25-04.  Pried door, unknown what was taken.

            -JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY, 9601 Medical Center Dr., Rockville, at 3:11 a.m. on 06-25-04.  Attempt only, pried door.
