RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

July 7, 2005 

 

RAPE 

            -On 06-30-05, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a 35-year-old Gaithersburg woman reported that she had been raped by an acquaintance.  She had been picked up at a bus stop at Lakeforest Mall by the suspect and taken to his home in Gaithersburg.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

          -On 07-01-05, at 12:44 a.m., a 41-year-old Silver Spring man was walking in the 11600 block of Lockwood Dr. in Silver Spring when a vehicle approached.  The suspect, while in the vehicle, threatened the victim and demanded property. The victim ran away and called police. No property was obtained. The suspect is described as a B/M, 18 -22, 5’6” tall, with an athletic build, wearing a red and white shirt.  The suspect was operating an unknown type of maroon vehicle.   

 

HOME INVASION ROBBERY 

            -On 06-30-05, at 4:50 p.m., a 50-year-old Rockville man returned to his residence in the 15300 block Diamond Cove Terrace in Rockville, and observed the three suspects standing in the stairwell of the building.  After entering his apartment, suspect #1 asked came to the door and asked to use the phone.  She used the phone then left.  A short time later, the victim answered the bell again and all three suspects were at the door.  Suspect #2 displayed a knife and all three forced their way into the apartment.  The victim was tied up while the suspects ransacked the apartment.  The victim’s vehicle, a 2004 white Chevy Malibu with Maryland tags, was taken along with other property.

          Suspect #1 – W/F, 20’s, 5’7”, 115 lbs., medium blonde hair, light-colored short sleeve shirt, and dark pants.

          Suspects #2 and #3 – B/M, early 20’s, 6’0” tall, 170 -180 lbs., dark button-down shirt, and dark-colored long pants.

 

STRONG ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 06-29-05, at 9:50 p.m., a 23-year-old Silver Spring woman was at the bus stop at Georgia Ave. and Hewitt Ave. in Silver Spring, when a black female walked in her direction. The suspect approached, slapped then victim in the face, and then the victim gave the suspect her shoulder bag.  The suspect then ran from the scene.   Victim refused medical treatment.

          Suspect #1 – B/F, unknown age, black pants and black shirt.

            -On 06-30-05, at 4:35 p.m., the Paradise Market, 7847 Eastern Ave. in Silver Spring, was robbed by a lone suspect who entered the store and posed as a customer.  When the clerk opened the register, the suspect jumped the counter, took the cash drawer and fled.  While running the suspect took emptied and dropped the cash drawer, then got into a waiting late model white vehicle, which was last seen heading toward 16th Street in Silver Spring.  The suspect is a B/M, 20 to 30, 5’8” to 6’0”, 150 to 160 lbs., wearing a blue baseball cap, blue shirt with a white stripe, and blue jean shorts. 

            -On 06-29-05, at 8:45 p.m., a 33-year-old Gaithersburg woman returned home to the unit block of Prairie Rose Ct. when she was attacked from behind by an unknown suspect who was already in the home.  The victim was assaulted, but was able to get away and call police. Her purse containing additional property was taken.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARREST 

            -On 06-28-05, Jeison Gustavo Ortiz, 23, of the 4000 block of Havard St. in Silver Spring and Roberto Herrera Meza, age 26, of the 11900 block of Andrew St. in Silver Spring were arrested and charged with First and Second Degree Assault, and Disorderly Conduct. The arrests were a result of a fight between the two at an Exxon station on Veirs Mill Road. 

            -On 06-30-05, Jeffrey A. Martins, 42, no fixed address, was arrested and charged with First and Second Degree Assault, Telephone Misuse, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Theft under $500, and Driving While Revoked.  The arrest was a result of an incident that had just occurred in the 700 block of Quince Orchard Blvd. in Gaithersburg.   

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 07-04-05, Corena Macias Schumm, 30, of 5700 block of Westward Street in Houston, TX, was arrested and charged with First Degree Burglary, two counts of Second Degree Assault, and two counts of Malicious Destruction of Property over $500.  The arrest was the result of an incident that had just occurred in the 2100 block of Hildarose Drive in Wheaton.

3rd DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -13600 block of Colgate Way in the Colesville area of Silver Spring, between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on 07-05-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -11600 block of Lockwood Drive in the White Oak area of Silver Spring, between 11:30 p.m. on 07-01-05 and 4:11 p.m. on 07-03-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -9700 block of Dilston Road in the Woodmoor area of Silver Spring, at 1:06 a.m. on 07-02-05.  Attempt only.

            -9700 block of Dilston Road in the Woodmoor area of Silver Spring, at 2:57 a.m. on 07-04-05.  Attempt only.

 

5th DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

-10800 block of Sir Barton Circle in Damascus, at 7:00 p.m. on 06-29-05.  Entry made, no force, property taken.

-12100 block of Skip Jack Drive in Germantown, between 5:00 p.m. on 07-02-05 and 2:30 p.m. on 07-04-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

-13100 block of Shadyside Lane in Germantown, between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 07-03-05.  Forced entry, nothing taken.

 

6th DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL 

            -BEST FRIENDS PET RESORT, 395 Muddy Branch Road in Gaithersburg, between 4:00 p.m. on 07-01-05 and 2:00 p.m. on 07-03-05.  Attempt only.                       

RESIDENTIAL 

-Unit block of Napa Valley Road in Gaithersburg, at 11:03 on 06-27-05.  Entry made, no force, nothing taken.

-Unit block of W. Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg, between an unknown time on 05-01-04 and 12:00 p.m. on 07-03-05.  Forced entry, property taken.
