ARMED ROBBERY

            -On 07-01-04, at 10:30 p.m., a 26-year-old Washington, D.C. man was in the parking lot of the 4300 block of Post Gate Terrace, in Wheaton, when he noticed a suspect following him. A Ford Mustang then pulled in front of him and suspect #2 (B/M, 22-24, 6’2”, 200 lbs., short black hair, black T-shirt, tennis shoes,) jumped out of the car and pointed a black pistol at him. Suspect #1 (B/M, 22-24, 5’9”, 175 lbs., black hair, goatee, white T-shirt, blue jean shorts, tennis shoes), who was following him, pointed a black gun at him and demanded money. The victim complied and both suspects got into the car and left.  **Previous release written on this incident.** 

            -On 06-29-04, at 7:40 a.m., a 51-year-old Gaithersburg woman was walking in the area of the 800 block of Quince Orchard Blvd., in Gaithersburg, when a suspect approached from behind. The suspect (Hispanic/M, 20s, dark shirt, black pants) started cutting her purse strap with a knife. A struggle ensued and in the process both the strap and the victim’s arm got cut. The suspect left in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to the local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

-On 06-30-04, at 11:37 p.m., a 26-year-old Beltsville woman was in the 11800 block of Cherry Hill Rd., in Silver Spring, when a car stopped.  Suspect #1 (B/M, 18-25, 5’4”-5’6”, 130 lbs., black baseball cap, white T-shirt, black shorts) got out and began running towards the victim.  The suspect was armed with a handgun. The victim screamed and ran to the middle of the road where she dropped her handbag. The suspect picked up the bag and ran towards the car but the driver of the car drove away before the suspect got in.

 

ATTEMPT ARMED ROBBERY

            -On 07-01-04, at 9:15 p.m., the Sandy Spring Store, located at 905 Olney-Sandy Spring Rd. in Sandy Spring, was the scene of an attempted robbery. A lone suspect (B/M, 25-30, 5’7”-5’8”, 175-190 lbs., black shorts, black T-shirt, black coat) approached a store employee outside the store. The suspect displayed a gun and demanded money. The victim said he had none. The suspect left without obtaining any property. 

            -On 07-01-04, at 3:40 a.m., a 19-year-old Silver Spring man was in the area of the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace, in Silver Spring, when he was approached by a suspect. The suspect (B/M, 20-30, 5’10”, 170 lbs., short black hair, black top, black pants).  The suspect threw the victim to the ground. The suspect implied a gun and took the victim’s property. The suspect ran down Ruatan St. towards Carrol Street.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY

            -On 06-30-04, at 12:20 p.m., a 70-year-old Silver Spring man was the victim of strong-armed robbery in a parking garage located in the 1400 block of East-West Highway in Silver Spring.  The victim saw two suspect and felt something was wrong.  He began to run but the suspects knocked him down and grabbed the victim’s backpack.  The suspects were last seen running through the garage.  The first suspect was a black male, 20-25 years,  6’0”, 180 pounds, wearing dark clothing.  The second suspect was a black male, 20-25 years, 6’0”, 200 pounds, wearing a white shirt and jeans. 

            -On 06-30-04, at 7:25 p.m., a 20-year-old Montgomery Village man was the victim of a strong-armed robbery in the 19500 block of Brassie Way in Gaithersburg.  Two suspects walked up to the victim, punched him, and took his wallet.  The suspects were last seen running towards Montgomery Village Avenue.  Both suspects were described as black males, 17-19 years, one was wearing a red shirt and the other a blue shirt. 

            -On 06-27-04, at 11:15 p.m., a 35-year-old Gaithersburg man was the victim of a strong-armed robbery in the 18500 block of Bayleaf Way in Germantown.  Four suspects approached the victim and began to punch and kicked him.  The suspects then took the victim’s boots.  The suspects were last seen running on Bayleaf Way.  The suspects were described as black males, 20-29 years, wearing white shirts.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 06-22-04, at 4:00 p.m., a 38-year-old Clarksburg man was the victim of a aggravated assault near the intersection of Preakness Drive and Show Pony Lane in Damascus.  The suspects followed the victim for a period of time in a Cadillac SUV.  When the victim stopped his car, the suspects got out and threatened the victim with a knife.  When the victim stated he was calling the police, the suspects got back in the SUV and drove away. The first suspect was a white male, 20-29 years, 5’10”, average build, with curly hair.  The second suspect was a white male, 20-29 years, 6’1” to 6’2”, with a stocky build.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARREST 

            -On 07-03-04, Raul Castro, age 39, of the 300 block of N. Summit Ave., in Gaithersburg, was arrested and charged with First-degree Assault, Second-degree Assault, and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.  The arrest was the result of an incident in the 300 block of N. Summit Avenue.

            -On 06-28-04, Dolores Pena, age 26, of the 19000 block of Mills Choice Rd., in Montgomery Village, was arrested and charged with First-degree Assault, Second-degree Assault, Destruction of Property, Theft Over $500, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Motor Vehicle Theft, and traffic charges.  The arrest was the result of an incident near Russell Avenue and Odenhal Avenue in Gaithersburg.

 

PEEPING TOM 

            -On 06-27-04, at 2:45 p.m., a 30-year-old Gaithersburg woman was in the dressing room of a department store at Lakeforest Mall trying on clothes when she noticed the bill of a  baseball cap protruding from the bottom of the dressing room curtain. The partially undressed victim looked out and startled the suspect (W/M, 30s, blue eyes, ball cap, blue T-shirt, tall/thin build, fair complexion) who got up and ran from the dressing room area.

 

INDECENT EXPOSURE 

            -On 06-23-04, at approximately 4:30 p.m., two men entered the bathroom at Montgomery Mall and encountered a male suspect exposing himself. Mall security was notified and the defendant was issued a trespass notice.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -CUSTOM CLEANERS, 180 Rollins Avenue, Rockville, between 5:20 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on 06-18-04. Pried window, cash register and currency taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -6600 block of Greyswood Rd., Bethesda, between 10:30 a.m. and noon on 06-30-04. Pried door, silver, crystal, and jewelry taken.

-11500 block of Goodloe Rd., Veirs Mill Village, at 3:20 p.m. on 06-30-04. Entered residence, homeowner inside, suspect fled without taking anything.

 

2nd DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -COMPUTER SHOWCASE, 8129 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda, between 8:30 p.m. on 06-25-04 and 8:30 a.m. on 06-28-04. Pried office door lock, laptop and desktop computers taken.

            -STUDIO NUOVO, 8120 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda, between 8:00 p.m. on 06-25-04 and 8:45 a.m. on 06-28-04. Pried office door lock, computer equipment, CD player, and Palm pilot taken.

            -ECONOWAY GAS STATION, 3745 University Blvd. West, Kensington, between 4:45 a.m. and 4:55 a.m. on 06-29-04. Broke garage door, nothing taken.

            -DEAN’S CUSTOM FLOORS, INC. 4302 Howard Ave., in Kensington, between 6:00 p.m. on 06-25-04 6:30 a.m. on 06-28-04. Entered garage door, 93 Chevy burgundy van, electric tools and generator taken.

            -DU-SHOR DANCE STUDIO, 7800 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, between 10:30 p.m. on 06-23-04 and 10:00 a.m. on 06-24-04.  Unknown entry point, CD combo deck and dual cassette deck taken.

            -KAULKIN GINSBERG, 8120 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda, between 6:30 p.m. on 06-28-04 and 6:30 a.m. on 06-29-04. Pried lock, broke door, computer monitors taken.

            -RESURRECTION LUTHERAN CHILDREN’S CENTER, 3101 University Blvd. West, Kensington, between 6:05 p.m. on 06-28-04 and 7:00 a.m. on 06-29-04. Entered building, cordless phone, Television, and VCR taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -4900 block of Strathmore Ave., Kensington, between 10:30 a.m. and 11:50 on 06-27-04. Entered residence, currency taken.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -A-1 DENTAL LABORTORY, 912 Silver Spring Ave., Silver Spring, between unknown time on 06-25-04 and unknown time on 06-28-04. Climbed in window, dental equipment taken.

            -HAMPTON HOLLOW RENTAL OFFICE, 3408 Hampton Hollow Dr., Silver Spring, between 11:00 p.m. on 06-28-04 and 9:00 a.m. on 06-29-04.  Pried open window, unknown what was taken.

            -DJAMA HAIR BRAIDING GALLERY, 9410 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, between 7:00 p.m. on 06-27-04 and 10:00 a.m. on 06-28-04.  Entered business, unknown what was taken.

            -SNIDER NAILS, 9416 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, between 7:00 p.m. on 06-27-04 and 10:00 a.m. on 06-28-04.  Forced open door, money taken.

            -UNIVERSAL SUPERMARKET, 8639 Flower Ave., Silver Spring, between 9:30 p.m. on 07-03-04 and 8:15 a.m. on 07-04-04.  Pried door, money taken.

            -OAKVIEW COMMUNITY POOL, 1101 Corliss St., Silver Spring, between 6:00 p.m. on 07-01-04 and 8:20 a.m. on 07-02-04.  Forced open door, unknown what was taken.

            -SISTERS OF MERCY OF THE AMERICAS, 8300 Colesville Rd., Silver Spring, between 5:00 p.m. on 06-30-04 and 8:00 a.m. on 07-01-04.  Forced open door, computer equipment taken.

            -SEAFOOD IN THE BUFF, 649 University Blvd. E, Silver Spring, between 9:45 p.m. on 06-28-04 and 10:45 a.m. on 06-29-04.  Pried door, credit card machine, stereo equipment, and money taken.

            -HARRY’S RESTAURANT, 13816 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville, at 5:45 a.m. on 06-29-04.  Pried lock, unknown what was taken.

            -LYNN NAILS, 15452 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville, between 9:00 a.m. and 9:50 a.m. on 06-30-04. Broke out door, unknown what was taken.

            -AFRO CARIB GROCERS, 15458 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville, between 9:00 a.m. and 9:50 a.m. on 06-30-04.  Broke out door, money taken.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -10000 block of Portland Pl., Silver Spring, between 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on 06-23-04.  Entered home, computer equipment, music equipment, DVDs, Playstation game system and games taken

-4300 block of Thistlewood Terr., Burtonsville, between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on 06-30-04.  Attempt only, window broken.

-13700 block of Colgate Way, Silver Spring, between 6:50 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. on 06-30-04.  Attempt only, climbed onto balcony.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -GEORGIA AVENUE BAPTIST CHURCH, 12525 Georgia Ave., Wheaton, between 6:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on 06-30-04.  Pried lock, unknown what was taken.

            -KO’S BEER AND WINE, 14 Randolph Rd., Colesville, between 11:00 p.m. on 06-29-04 and 11:00 a.m. on 06-30-04.  Attempt only, pried door. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -14600 block of Tynewick Terr., Wheaton, between 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on 06-28-04.  Pried open window, unknown what was taken.

            -15300 block of Holly Grove Rd., Silver Spring, between 6:00 a.m. on 06-21-04 and 8:45 p.m. on 06-24-04.  Broke out window, unknown what was taken.

            -13000 block of Hathaway Dr., Silver Spring, between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 06-27-04.  Entered residence, unknown what was taken.

            -13400 block of Justice Rd., Rockville, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. on 06-30-04.  Broke out window, stereo equipment, Playstation game system and games, jewelry, tools, and money taken.

            -3400 block of Randolph Rd., Wheaton, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. on 06-30-04.  Entered home, Playstation Game System and games taken.

            -POPEYE’S, 417 N. Frederick Ave., Gaithersburg, between 1:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. on 06-20-04.  Entered business, unknown what was taken.

            -HENRY’S TOWING, 8321 Beechcraft Ave., Gaithersburg, between 10:00 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on 06-29-04.  Forced open gate, unknown what was taken.

            -SUMMER RIDGE CONDOMINIUMS, 18407 Guildberry Dr., Gaithersburg, between 10:30 a.m. on 06-30-04 and 7:00 a.m. on 07-01-04.  Attempt only, pried lock.

            -AVALON FIELDS, 15615 Marathon Circle, between 9:00 a.m. on 07-04-04 and 8:30 a.m. on 07-05-04.  Pried doorframe, tools taken.

            -FOREST OAK MIDDLE SCHOOL, 651 Saybrooke Oak Blvd., Gaithersburg, between 1:21 a.m. and 1:25 a.m. on 07-01-04.  Entered through window, unknown what was taken.

            -100 block of Deer Park Lane, Gaithersburg, between 1:00 p.m. on 06-22-04 and 3:00 p.m. on 06-25-04.  Entered home, Playstation Game System and games taken.

            -10700 block of Wayridge Dr., Montgomery Village Ave., between 11:50 p.m. on 06-26-04 and 1:00 a.m. on 06-27-04.  Forced open door, unknown what was taken.

            -17800 block of Mill Creek Dr., Rockville, between 6:15 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. on 07-03-04.  Entered garage, lawn equipment taken.

            -12200 block of McDonald Chapel Dr., Gaithersburg, at 10:30 a.m. on 07-03-04.  Entered garage, bicycle taken.
