RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

July 12, 2005

ARMED ROBBERY 

                        -On 07-07-05, at 4:00 a.m., a 33-year-old Rockville man was at a bus stop in the parking lot of the 12200 block of Veirs Mill Rd. in Rockville, when two suspects approached him. One of the suspects displayed a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim complied and the suspects got into an unknown type, black 4-door car and fled on Randolph Rd. towards Rockville Pike.

• Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 5’5”, black T-shirt, blue jeans.
• Suspect #2 – B/M, 20-25, 5’10”, black T-shirt, blue jeans.

                        -On 07-08-05, at 1:05 a.m., a 54-year-old Silver Spring man was walking in the 9200 block of New Hampshire Ave. when he was approached by two suspects wearing ski masks. Suspect #1 threatened the victim with a silver shotgun, while suspect #2 went through his pockets. The suspects took cash from the victim and then ran towards Avenel Road.

• Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 5’10”-6’0”, 170-190 lbs., black clothing.
• Suspect #2 – B/M, 20-25, 5’9”-6’0”, 170-190 lbs., black clothing.

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 07-05-05, at 11:48 p.m., a 43-year-old Silver Spring woman had just exited her vehicle in the 3500 block of Castle Way in Silver Spring, when she was approached by the suspect.  The suspect demanded the victim’s purse and grabbed if from her shoulder. The suspect fled in the direction of Castle Boulevard.  The suspect is described as a B/M, 25 – 30, 5’10”, 160 lbs., wearing a dark shirt and dark pants.

BANK ROBBERY 

            -On 07-25-05, at 10:01 a.m., a lone suspect entered the Chevy Chase Bank at 5476 Wisconsin Ave. in Chevy Chase.  The suspect demanded money from a teller. The teller handed over some cash and the suspect fled the bank, heading north on Wisconsin Avenue.  The suspect is a B/M, 40 – 45, 6’0”, 200 lbs., thin build, wearing a blue button down shirt.   ***See previously issued press release*** 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On  07-05-05, a 12-year-old male from Silver Spring and a 13-year-old male from Gaithersburg were arrested and charged with Second Degree Burglary, Theft Over $500 and Theft Under $500.  The arrest was the result of an incident that occurred overnight at Fergenson’s Plumbing Supply located in the Layhill Shopping Center.
