Lieutenant Thomas Jacocks is the longest serving police officer in the history of Montgomery County, having been sworn on July 1, 1955.
His first assignment was as a Patrol Officer in the Bethesda Station. In 1959, he was promoted to Detective in the Bethesda Detective Bureau. He moved up the ranks from Detective Private First Class to Detective Corporal, to Detective Sergeant, to Detective Sergeant First Class, and worked in the Juvenile Aid Bureau, and the Warrant and Fugitive Squad. He was promoted in 1982 to the rank of Lieutenant, and has served in the Silver Spring (3rd District) Station, and as the Court Liaison Officer.
In 2002, Lieutenant Jacocks returned to Bethesda, where he remains today as a very active Deputy Commander of the 2nd District. Lieutenant Jacocks oversees the Day/Evening patrol shifts, CBD Unit, and the Traffic Section. |
