Captain Johnson was hired in February 1985 and assigned to the 4th District patrol. While assigned to there he completed many additional assignments to include firearms instructor at the police academy, auto theft investigator, and personnel background investigator. In 1989, he became a field-training officer and has remained active in this role.
Captain Johnson has competed in the regional Council of Government Patrol Officer Competition with the Departmental team and won first place three years. In 1996, he was promoted to corporal and transferred to the 5th District. In 1997, he was promoted to sergeant and assigned to the 4th District again. While in the 4th District he was assigned to a patrol shift, midnight shift, central business district, and Olney beat team. In January of 2004 he was assigned to the newly created position of Educational Facilities Officer supervisor. Lieutenant Johnson remained in that assignment until his promotion to lieutenant in July of 2004. After his promotion to Lieutenant, he was assigned to the 3rd District where he was responsible for the central business district of Silver Spring and surrounding areas. He subsquently transferred to the 2nd District where he served as Deputy District Commander.
Captain Johnson was promoted in June, 2007 and is currently assigned as the Commander of the 3rd District. He is a life-long Montgomery County resident, and attended University of Maryland in College Park. He is married with six children and resides in Olney. |
