Fingerprints
The hours of operation are the same at all of the Montgomery County Police District Stations. The cost is $10.00 per card. We only accept cash. You must provide your own cards. The cards are provided to you by the organization requesting that you be fingerprinted. <

Monday through Friday Monday through Wednesday Thursday and Friday |
9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. |

Due to unforeseen circumstances, fingerprinting services may be temporarily suspended. Please call your local district station before you arrive.
As a courtesy, groups of 4 or more are requested to make an appointment at your local district station so that sufficient personnel are working to handle your request. Otherwise, you risk being declined service at that time.
We do not fingerprint on weekends.
In order to be fingerprinted, you must:
- Be a Montgomery County resident, work in county, or are applying for a job in Montgomery County. If you do not live in the County, your employer must provide us with a letter, on their letterhead, displaying a Montgomery County address. The letter must state that they require you to be fingerprinted for employment with their company. You must have proof of current County Residency. By Maryland law you have 60 days to correct the address with MVA if the address is incorrect or no longer current on your MD driver's license or MD ID card. During the 60-day grace-period, you may use a current utility bill, deed, and or lease agreement as proof of current County residence.
- Have a picture identification card, which has been government issued. An example would be a Maryland driver’s license, a Motor Vehicle Administration ID card, and a government ID (such as IDs from the US Department of Justice or State Department, etc.). There is Military exception, which requires a current Military ID, along with a current utility bill, deed, and or lease agreement.
- Be an student whose permanent residence is out-of-state. You must bring your out-of-state driver’s license, as well as your student ID. Also required is proof of current Montgomery County residence in the form of a current utility bill, deed, lease agreement, bank statement, or pay stub.
- Bring your fingerprint cards with you. We do not provide fingerprint cards. The cards are provided by the organization requesting that you be fingerprinted. We will not provide FBI fingerprint cards as they must be pre-printed with information that we do not have. If you have not been given cards by the organization requesting them, please contact that organization.
We do not fingerprint for INS. This is at the request of Immigration and Naturalization Services, who prefers to do their own fingerprinting. If INS has requested that you have a background check, please call them at 1-800-375-5283 for further information.

An on-line help document is provided with the on-line application that provides step by step instructions on how to use VARPS to purchase a report. Open the application by clicking http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/accidentreports and selecting the Help link in the application header located at the top right of the web page.

The reports cost $10.00.
- Who do I call or contact if I am having trouble with the on-line system?

- How can I find my accident report?
The on-line system allows users to search for a non-fatal vehicle accident report on-line by submitting an accident or collision report number (CR#) into a search form field. Accident report numbers are unique and are given to the driver(s) and/or to the pedestrian(s) involved in the vehicle accident by a Montgomery County Police Officer. If you do not have the CR#, then call 240-773-5330 and staff will assist you with finding it.
- When will my accident report be available on-line?
Non-fatal vehicle accident reports are typically published on-line within 5 to 7 business days after an accident or collision has occurred. In some cases, the reports may take longer to be published.
- Why can't I find my accident report on-line?
If the on-line system is unable to find your vehicle accident report, then the following may be the cause:
- The non-fatal collision or accident involves an associated incident (i.e. DUI)
- The collision or accident involves a fatality
- The officer has not yet completed the report
- There is a collision report number (CR#) typo error in the system's database or in the CR# that you entered into the application
- The County web server may unavailable due to a system error
- You may be experiencing a network connectivity error with your Internet service provider
If the collision report that you are unable to find does not involve a fatality, an associated incident, a web server error, or a network connectivity error and you believe that you are submitting a correct CR#, then select the Contact Us link in the application header and contact the County Police Department for assistance.
- I paid for my report, but I was unable to download it to my computer. What do I do?
If your payment transaction has been approved and you are unable to download the non-fatal vehicle accident reports, then please select the Contact Us link to contact the Montgomery County Police Department to obtain a copy of the report that you purchased. If possible, please provide your accident report order number, which is provided in the confirmation web page and email, to the County Police customer support representative
- How do I purchase multiple reports at the same time?
The application will enable you to purchase multiple reports by selecting the Continue Shopping button. Once you have completed shopping, then you will be given the opportunity to review and edit your shopping cart as necessary prior to checking out and purchasing the reports.
- What do I need to use the on-line system?
It is recommended that you use an Internet Explorer 6.x or better or FireFox 2.x or better web browser to purchase accident reports on-line. In addition, you will need a zip file utility to uncompress the downloadable zip file containing the accident report files and Adobe Reader to read the PDF files.
Note... Microsoft XP and VISTA operating systems have zip file uncompression utilities built-in to their operating systems, so a third party utility may not be required. For more information on free zip file software utilities, please click the following link http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=free+zip+file&aq=f&oq=.
The downloadable zip file contains an accident report or several reports stored as an image or as images in an Adobe PDF file format. As a result, you will also need to install the free Adobe Reader (http://www.adobe.com), if it is not already installed on your computer, to display or print the vehicle accident report(s). To open an accident report, double-click the PDF file presented on in your Windows - My Computer folder. Adobe Reader will open the file for you.
