1. Exactly what is an Access Card?
  • Your personal card to access Montgomery County Recreation Department programs, activites, and facilities.
2. What does it cost me?
  • It's FREE!
3. Why do I have to have one?
  • All users of Montgomery County Recreation Department facilities are required to have an Access Card for entry into any Recreation facility, or they will be required to manually sign into that facility on each visit..

  • Access Cards are issued to individuals.
6. How does the Access card benefit me?
  • Express entrance into activities; FREE open gym memberships for youths; seasonal guides mailed to your home; enhanced safety at pools and centers; AND MORE!
7. How much does the card cost?
  • It's FREE!
8. Will I be able to enter a facility without the card?
  • We want all MCRD participants to have this FREE card. It's the quick easy way to gain entry into our facilities.  If you don't have an Access Card, you will be required to sign in manually upon each visit to one of our facilities.
9. What happens if I forget to bring my card when I go to a facility?
  • While the community gets accustomed to using Access Cards, staff will be able to look up information after all other participants have scanned their cards. If you lose your card, you will be issued a replacement card for a $5 fee.
10. Will I need a card to register for a class?
  • No, but you will need a card to attend the class.
11. Will I need a card to register for a program that is not in a facility?
  • We want all MCRD participants to have this FREE card.
12. What happens if I lose my card?
  • Staff will issue a replacement card at a cost of $5.
15. What if I want to bring a friend who doesn't live in Montgomery County?
  • Your guest can sign in with staff at the front desk.

  • We want all MCRD participants to have this FREE card.

  • We want all MCRD participants to have this FREE card.
16. Is there an age requirement?
  • Yes, any individual 4 to 104 should have an Access Card.
17. What about people who assist those using a facility such as caregivers, parents, interpreters, nannies, or in-home aides? Do they all get a card or is there some type of guest card/temporary pass/limited pass?
  • We want all MCRD participants to have this FREE card. However, these caregivers can sign in as a guest with the staff at the front desk.
18. Does this replace my library card?
  • No, the Access Card is for Montgomery County Recreation Department facililties and programs.
19. Can I get a corporation Access Card?
  • No, Access Cards are issued to individuals.
20. Does the card expire?
  • No, Access Cards do not expire.
21. How often do I need to get one?
  • You only need to get an Access Card once unless you have a significant change in appearance.
22. What about replacement cards?
  • Staff will trade in an old Access Card for one with a new picture if you have a significant change in your appearance. If you lose your Access Card, there is a fee of $5 for a replacement card.
23. Is there a cost for a replacement card if lost?
  • If you lose your Access Card, there is a fee of $5 for a replacement card.
24. What if my card is defective?
  • Staff will trade in a defective Access Card for a new card at no cost.
25. Is there a minimum age?
  • Yes, individuals 4 years or older should have an Access Card.
29. Will my child need a card to attend a program?
  • Yes, we want all MCRD participants over the age of 4 to have this FREE card.
26. Will my child have to get one to register for a program?
  • No, but you will need an Access Card to attend the program.
27. Will my child have to carry a card?
  • We want all MCRD participants over the age of 4 to have this FREE card while using MCRD facilities.
28. Must individuals be able to produce their card on demand?
  • We want all MCRD participants over the age of 4 to have this FREE card while using MCRD facilities.
29. Can I get one for my child who is under 4 years old?
  • Sure, we can issue Access Cards for individuals under 4, but they will not be required.
