The Damascus Community Recreation  Center is located on Oak Drive near the north intersection of Oak Drive and Ridge Road (Route 27). The center is next to John T. Baker Middle School. It is a 31,064 square-foot facility which features a full size gymnasium, a social hall, kitchen, exercise/weight room, a game room, a conference room, a classroom, an arts and crafts room equipped with three kilns and five potter’s wheels, and a computer lab. Some rooms are available for rental use. If you are interested, please see the front desk staff for a preliminary application and to check on date availability. There are outdoor facilities located on the property: basketball courts, two football/soccer field, two baseball/softball fields, an amphitheater with lawn seating and four dedicated electrical outlets.
Sports participants and spectators, alike, appreciate the Damascus Community Recreation Center multi-sport gymnasium, which includes regulation basketball, volleyball and badminton courts. The gymnasium is used for a multitude of organized leagues, competitions, and instructional programs. The gym is also scheduled for self-directed 'open gym' play. The gymnasium’s room capacity is 750 participants with the operable partitions in place and 1,100 with the partitions in open format. The gymnasium is equipped with telescoping bleachers, electronic scoreboard, overhead stereo and retractable basketball hoops. Gym memberships are available for purchase.
TheExercise/Weight Room is equipped with a full circuit of self-administered weight machines, exercise bicycles, stairclimbers, treadmills and an elliptical trainer. Anyone age 16 or older can purchase an Exercise/Weight Room membership. YOUTH AGES 14 - 17 Resident and *Non-Resident are eligible to register WITH SIGNED PARENT AUTHORIZATION. **AGES 14-17 must have adult supervision from a paid adult member in the weight room with him/her at all times. Participation in a certified training program is encouraged. *Non-resident fees apply.
A Social Hall provides space for a variety of classes, business, community, and social activities. This space can accommodate up to 350 participants and has portable round tables which seat eight with chairs available for use along with a overhead stereo system. Rental fees are based on the type and duration of the specific event. There is a small warming kitchen convenient to the social hall. For smaller meetings, groups with 25 or fewer, Damascus Community Recreation Center has an executive conference room with a TV/VCR and overhead screen; a projector must be supplied by the renter. A Classroom with tables, chairs, and TV can accommodate up to 70 participants. The classroom is the currently used for the After-school program, local home owners associations’ meetings, as well as, frequent birthday party rentals.
The art room is a multi-purpose space for a variety of activities including crafts, meetings, and small parties. Looking for a game, you'll find opportunities for table tennis, billiards, air hockey, and foosball, among the activities available in the Game Room.
The Computer Lab has ten computer stations each equipped with a high speed wireless Internet connection, computer with flat panel monitor, Windows XP, MS Office Professional and Internet Explorer Software. There are three color inkjet printers available for member use. The lab may be used provided a staff person is available to supervise the lab.
The Damascus Community Recreation Center is a multi-purpose recreational facility for all ages, offering activities and experiences which provide customers with personal enjoyment and satisfaction. We strive to promote health, physical fitness, learning, growth, and opportunities for socialization. Whatever your interests may be: sports, fitness, dance, music, art or the opportunity to join together with friends and neighbors for a special celebration, or social gathering, Damascus Community Recreation Center has something to offer you.

Special thanks to William Leonard for the flower bed in the shape of a “D” for Damascus to the right of our front door, Nick Barrows for the hand carved benches, Brian Green for the outdoor fire pit and benches, Brian Wilkerson for the tent pad site, Jon Ryan for the expansion of the Wilderness Trail and Jonathan Carts for the butterfly garden on the left side of the building.
