Stanley E. Kensky
Stanley E. Kensky is the Adult Recreation Basketball instructor. The class provides an opportunity for good exercise in a friendly, casual atmosphere, and in a competitive environment for all skill levels in a wide age range (18-70). Play is conducted in a “pickup” team-oriented game, realizing the necessity to rely on teammates to achieve the common goal.
Mr. Kensky has been involved in various competitive sports for many years: basketball, tennis, table tennis, softball. He applies his knowledge of the game, sportsmanship, organizational, administrative and dispute resolution skills to the informal environment of competitive basketball for adults of all ages.
The primary objective of participants: exercise, competitive athletic activity within a basketball environment, with emphasis on sportsmanship & cooperation, recognizing the limitations of older adults by playing half-court, rather than full court games.
Mr. Kensky has been running this MCRD Monday night adult basketball program since 1999, while participating for about 15 years. The Program has been in existence for about 40 years! He has lived in the Silver Spring, Maryland area for almost 40 years, attending Montgomery Blair HS (’70) and the University of Maryland (Labor Relations/Business Administration; BS ’74; MBA ’75). He has been an Umpire, Referee, Mediator, Negotiator, Administrator, & Ombudsman, among other things.
