Anjali Kumar learned yoga at the Bihar School of Yoga in India under the guidance of Swami Niranjananandaji. She teaches yoga because it allows us to unwind, relax and be with ourselves. When physical stresses are released, mental preoccupations dissolve and we become creative in redefining ourselves beyond the “To do” lists, roles and labels we’ve catered to for so long.
The instructor only acts as a facilitator in this process by introducing postures and other exercises. With guidance, the student’s individuality determines how to apply a posture to dissolve his / her tensions. In a relaxed state of mind, openness and acceptance may arise in one while another may want to pursue a latent interest in painting or writing.
As we work towards the union of our inner wisdom and outer personality we become practitioners of Integrative Yoga.
