Active Adults 55 Fitness Clinics An opportunity for persons 55 years and older, to attend a clinic designed to inform beginners about the basics of healthful activity and how to utilize the exercise facilities in local MCRD Community Centers. Options exist for use of these facilities free of charge during specific days and times. The clinics are conducted by a Professor of Health at Montgomery College and are free to the public. 55+ Clinics: Introduction to the Weight Room Group instruction designed for active seniors. Learn weight room etiquette, use of cardio vascular equipment, weight machines and free weights to develop a challenging circuit training routine that you can continue on your own. FREE but you must pre-register.

You also have access to an exercise and weight room at any community center that has a senior program, during their senior program hours at no cost. If you use the exercise rooms on other days and times at the community centers, you will have to purchase a regular season pass.

224622 Ski Trip January 28, 2009 Fee $30 Join in the fun at Whitetail Mountain Resort in Mercersburg, PA for our annual ski trip. The fee of $30 is for transportation only, and is payable to MCRD. The lift ticket and equipment rental fees are paid directly to Whitetail upon arrival. 8 hour lift tickets are $45 or $22.50 if you are 65 or older* 4 hour lift tickets are $40 or $20 if you are 65 or older* Equipment rental fees are $36* Leave 8:30am/Return 4:30pm – Holiday Park Senior Center * All Fees Subject to Change
Coming This Spring... SOAR trip destinations to look forward include: A cruise on the Spirit of Washington during cherry blossom time; visits to several Civil War battlefields with guided tours; our annual sailing trip on the Chesapeake Bay; whitewater rafting; visits to Smith’s Island and Annapolis; and many other destinations. Call us or send us a note and we’ll put you on our mailing list for the spring brochure.
Mini Trips/Short Day Excursions These 4-6 hour trips are available for departure from your local senior center or neighborhood program. Busses for these trips accommodate 20-22 persons per bus. The transportation fee is $7.00 payable to MCRD. This does not include lunch fees, entrance fees or any other additional fees associated with some of these trips. These additional fees are payable, by you, the day of the trip to the appropriate vendor. Since our space is limited, we can’t provide a detailed itinerary of each trip in this brochure. Prior to registering, call the senior program site (see page 82) on a day that the program meets and ask to speak to the Senior Program Director, or call our main office at 240-777-4925.
Our busses are wheelchair accessible, but we must know in advance if you require this accommodation, to ensure your space if the trip isn’t already full.
