Please Note:

If you live in a municipality, your holiday schedule for recycling or trash collection may be different from the County schedule.

Recycling/trash information for municipalities

Check whether you have County-provided trash collection service with our Collection Day Lookup tool. Or, call Montgomery County's Customer Service Center at 311 (out-of-County: 240-777-0311, TTY: 240-773-3556).

If your collection is privately contracted, ask your community manager or your hauler to find out how holidays are handled. We do not have information about private collections and their holiday schedules.

If your trash is picked up twice per week, your collection is private, and our trash collection announcements do not apply to you.

Montgomery County Recycling and Trash Collection Holidays

New Year's Day - January 1
Martin Luther King, Jr., Day - third Monday in January
Memorial Day - last Monday in May
Independence Day - July 4
Labor Day - first Monday in September
Thanksgiving Day - fourth Thursday in November
Christmas Day - December 25

We do not make County-provided recycling or trash collections on these County holidays.

If a County holiday falls during the week (Monday – Friday), all collections scheduled on or after the holiday will be made one day later that week.

If a County holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, there will not be a “slide”. Regular collection services will be provided the week before and after the weekend holiday.

If the actual holiday falls on the weekend, but the County observes the holiday on the Friday before or the Monday after the actual holiday, there is no change in the collection schedule.

Please remember, all items to be collected must be out at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on collection day.
