Reporting Missed Collections

Recycling and trash trucks making collections for Montgomery County may work until 9:00 p.m.

County-provided recycling collections for blue bin recyclables, yard trimmings, and mixed paper are made by different trucks. These trucks typically have different schedules. For example, even though your blue bin was emptied at 7:15 a.m., the yard trimmings truck may not arrive until 2:00 p.m., possibly giving the appearance throughout the morning that the leaves and grass were left behind.

Call Montgomery County's Customer Service Center at 3-1-1 (out-of-County: 240-777-0311, TTY: 240-773-3556) the next morning to report a missed collection. Missed collections must be reported no later than 5 p.m. two business days after your collection day. In the meantime, do not remove your items from the curb.

The information on this page applies only to recycling and trash collections provided by Montgomery County. If your collection contract is directly between you and a hauling company, or is arranged by your homeowners' association or municipality, please contact the company, association, or municipality directly.

Check whether you have County-provided trash collection service with our Collection Day Lookup tool. Or, call Montgomery County's Customer Service Center at 3-1-1 (out-of-County: 240-777-0311, TTY: 240-773-3556).
