Street Lighting: Maintenance

Streetlight Malfunctions
Streetlight malfunctions may be reported to us in several ways. These methods help to improve our accuracy and repair time. Please note that approximately one-half of all County monitored streetlights have been identified and mapped. Efforts are currently underway to provide County-wide coverage in the near future as resources permit. Choose from one of the following methods:

  1. Report a malfunction using a color GIS (Geographic Information Systems) map. Begin with a map of the entire County and zoom in / out to visibly locate and select a malfunctioning streetlight.

  2. Report a malfunction using a street address or nearby intersection. Search with an address or intersection to generate a color GIS (Geographic Information Systems) map to visibly locate and select a malfunctioning streetlight.

  3. Report a malfunction by street name and / or pole number. Search by street name and / or pole number to generate a list of matching streetlights. This is the fastest way to report a malfunction if the street name and pole number are known.

  4. Report a malfunction by the Streetlight Outage Form. If the malfunctioning streetlight cannot be located using the above methods or if your Internet connection is less than 56kbps, use this form to report a malfunctioning streetlight.

When you have submitted information regarding a malfunctioning streetlight, the request will be investigated within five (5) business days. Repairs can range from simply replacing a light bulb to more extensive work, or even no power, which will require a longer time to repair. However, if a taped RED “X” appears on the streetlight pole, a “NO VOLTAGE” condition (no power) has been identified and the local utility company will be notified to repair the service disruption to the streetlight. This process may take several weeks or months to properly complete the repair.
