Proposed Ride On Fare Change
The Montgomery County Council hereby notifies the general public that a hearing will be held to receive testimony on the County Executive’s proposal to raise the cost of the Ride On monthly pass by $5 effective January 1, 2010. The hearing will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 starting at 1:30 pm. The hearing will be held in the 3rd Floor Hearing Room of the Council Office Building, 100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, Maryland.

Notice of Public Hearing on Metrobus Q2
Metro will host a public hearing to receive the public’s input on proposed changes to Metrobus route Q2, the Veirs Mill Road line.
The hearing (number 546) will take place at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, October 13, at the First Baptist Church of Wheaton, Fellowship Hall, 10914 Georgia Avenue, Wheaton, MD. An open house will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Metro, in coordination with Montgomery County and the Maryland Department of Transportation, has developed a service plan that restructures Metrobus route Q2 (Veirs Mill Road Line), which currently operates between Shady Grove and Silver Spring Metrorail stations. This route is being proposed for restructuring to address continuing performance-related issues, including schedule adherence, bus bunching, traffic congestion, delays, passenger crowding and long trip durations.

Bus Stops Now included in MyMontgomery
Online Locator Service
Now residents can easily find a bus stop by using Montgomery County’s award-winning website feature “My Montgomery,” an online system which helps locate a variety of County facilities and services. Visitors can locate nearby bus service by typing in an address and zip code. “My Montgomery” can be found at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/mymontgomery or by clicking on the icon on the left side of the County’s front page. Bus stop information includes the bus service route, route schedules and maps, as well as information about the availability of benches, streetlights and shelters. Residents may also report bus stop problems to Ride On by simply clicking on a link and completing a brief on-line form that is automatically associated with the bus stop selected.

Transit Information Center (TIC) Now Accepts Certain Credit Cards;
TRiPS and TIC Will Add Value to SmarTrip®
Ride On’s Transit Information Center is now accepting MasterCard, Visa, checks and cash as methods of payment for purchasing Ride On and Metro bus passes. Click for TIC location and sales information.
Customers can now also purchase or add value to SmarTrip® Cards at TIC. Customers can make payment using MasterCard, Visa, or cash. For the first time, TRiPS commuter stores in Silver Spring and Friendship Heights will also be able to add value to SmarTrip.

Schedule Changes Effective September 6, 2009

Ride On will make changes to Ride On Routes 6, 18, 25 and 37 beginning September 6. These changes are the result of County studies and a public hearing held last Spring. Thank you to all of you who provided feedback during this process.

Ride On to Directly Serve Rockville Town Square
‘Round Rockville shuttle service will begin April 20, serving new stops in Rockville Town Square. Riders should look for Ride On buses painted with a new blue, red and white design and featuring ‘Round Rockville. The route is the existing Route 45 which operates between Rockville Regional Transit Center (RRTC) at Fallsgrove and Twinbrook Metro Station, also serving Rockville Metro Station. The new stops will be on Gibbs St. going westbound in the direction of Fallsgrove/ RRTC and on Maryland Avenue between Beall Ave.and East Middle Lane going eastbound toward Twinbrook Metro Station. There is also a stop on Beall Ave. Regular fares will apply. For timetable and map click here.

Seniors (age 65 years) now have a new Senior SmarTrip card that may be used to ride free on Ride On buses and some Metrobuses in Montgomery County starting July 1, 2008.
Until further notice, Ride On's fareboxes will not accept the new $5 bill. Please use other denominations for your transactions until programming can be done. We apologize for any inconvenience.
As of January 1, 2008 Seniors and People with Disabilities Ride Free
Seniors and people with disabilities ride FREE, anytime on Ride On and certain Metrobus routes in Montgomery County. Seniors must be 65 years or older and have a valid Metro Senior ID card or Medicare card and photo ID and persons with disabilities must have a Metro Disabled ID card.

All school age children may board any RIDE ON bus and most Metro buses in Montgomery County for FREE from 2:00PM to 7:00PM Monday thru Friday.

Order Call-N-Ride Coupon Online now available-This Montgomery County program provides subsidized taxi trips for low-income persons with disabilities and seniors.
To be eligible for the Call 'N' Ride Program, you must be low income, at least 67 years of age or disabled.
