IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE DISCONTINUATION OF METROCHEKS

AND TRANSITION TO SMARTBENEFITS VOUCHERS

Why SmartBenefits Vouchers?

Metrochek sales by Metro ended December 1, 2008.
Metrocheks will not be accepted by Metro in exchange for other fare media after March 31, 2008.
SmartBenefits Vouchers cannot be loaded onto a SmarTrip card, but it provides a medium of exchange for MARC, MTA Commuter Bus, VRE, Ride On Monthly passes and several types of Metrobus passes, until these transit systems are able to accept the SmarTrip card.

NOTE: MARC/MTA offices will continue to accept Metrocheks that have been previously distributed until close of business, March 6, 2009.

How do I get Vouchers?

SmartBenefits Vouchers are available only online from the WMATA SmartBenefits web site: http://www.wmata.com/bus2bus/smartbenefits/index.html

Employers must be enrolled in SmartBenefits in order to receive SmartBenefits Vouchers for current or future employees who need them.

To enroll in SmartBenefits through the Montgomery County Super FareShare program and to order SmartBenefits Vouchers please e-mail or call Montgomery County Commuter Services, (240) 773-BWTW (2989).

How can I get credit for unused Metrocheks?

Extra Metrocheks can be loaded onto the SmarTrip card. A cutoff date has not yet been determined.

Last day to exchange Metrocheks at Metro Sales office: March 31, 2009.
