About Us

The Office of Agriculture (OAG) was created in July 2016 and exists to promote agriculture as a viable component of the County's economic sector as well as to preserve farmland as a resource for future agricultural production. By providing support to our farm community and working to educate our residents, the goal of the OAG is to elevate Montgomery County as a leader the agricultural industry. The OAG oversees the day to day operations and functions for all agricultural agencies located at the one-stop Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood. The Office also serves as a liaison between the Executive Branch and the agricultural community and provides agricultural program coordination with all of the agricultural agency partners including the University of Maryland-Extension, the Montgomery Soil Conservation District, the Natural Resource Conservation Service and the Farm Service Agency.
