MD 355 BRT South Corridor Advisory Committee
(South of the Beltway/I-495 to the Bethesda Metro Station)

MD 355 South is an urban corridor planned for a high level of development that will support all-day travel. It is characterized by shorter trips (than in the MD 355 North corridor) representing a wide variety of travel purposes (shopping and recreation, in addition to commuting).

The corridor has several planned or existing activity centers, including

  • Rockville,
  • Twinbrook,
  • White Flint,
  • National Institutes of Health/Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and the
  • Bethesda central business district.

It is also characterized by very heavy congestion and high transit ridership potential.

For more information on this corridor, see the MD 355 BRT Project Page and  Countywide Transit Corridors Functional Master Plan.
