TIGER VIII Discretionary Grant Application

US29 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Improvements

On April 29 th, 2016, Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) submitted an application to the U.S. Department of Transportation's TIGER VIII program. This discretionary grant program corresponds to the fiscal year 2016. The grant application requested funds of $33.6 million, which would be matched locally by the same amount. Winning the grant would greatly assist Montgomery County in successfully funding the implementation of BRT service on US 29.  In early 2017, MCDOT worked with the Federal Transit Administration to remove the managed lanes from the project, reflecting the County's current plans to implement the BRT using the existing roadway configuration on US 29.  For more information, see the application package that appears below.
