Processing, Transportation, and Disposal Services

Montgomery County, Maryland (“County”) is issuing this Request For Information (“RFI”) to obtain information from organizations interested in operating the County’s Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station (“TS”) and providing acceptance, processing, transportation, and disposal services for approximately 600,000 tons per year of acceptable solid waste (Acceptable waste: materials remaining after recycling and not classified as a Hazardous Waste).

Responses are intended to inform and educate the County on available options for acceptance, processing, transportation, and disposal of acceptable solid waste received at the TS. The County may use responses to this RFI to develop a Request for Proposal (“RFP”) in the future.

This RFI does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise. The County will not be responsible for any costs incurred by respondents to prepare and submit their response to this RFI.

Important dates to keep in mind:

  1. Transfer Station Site Visit: October 27, 2021 at 10:00 am and at 1:00 pm.
  2. Last Day for Questions: November 15, 2021 by 5:00 pm. Revised by Amendment 1 until December 15, 2021 by 5:00 pm.
  3. RFI Responses Due: December 10, 2021 by 4:30 pm.  Revised by Amendment 1 until January 28, 2022 by 4:30 pm.

Responses to this RFI are due no later than January 28, 2022*, by 4:30 p.m. Responses must be submitted by email only to: marilu.enciso@montgomerycountymd.gov.
